  • Can go from good to bad in a blink of the eye! So we are very prepared for things to come now! God bless you and your family, so glad things are getting better for you! And thanks for the humbling video to maybe help other see the light ! Take care! P.s one thing we did was make a wish board and put it in our bedroom do every day when we woke up we could see things that we asked for starting to happen, it gave us hope and the will to keep pushing forward! Just a thought for people who may ne

  • I totally understand what you have gone thru! My family and I were a middle class family getting by ,owned our home for 15 years and after a major injury to myself we ended up loosing everything ! Our home! Our car, our savings, and ended up having garage sales to get food to eat! It's funny how things can f

  • I tott

  • The same thing happened to my family back in 2001 and luckily I store food for Y2K and we used a lot of it and then my son's family used a lot after losing a job like we had. So I started my pantry again a few years back and I never feel I am finished. I do eat out of it all the time and found what we like the most is what I can myself. Tastes a hundred times better than commercially canned foods. So build up your pantry as you can and then triple it, like you said.

  • Thanx for the vidio. It hurts me to see us all struggling so.Dam the super greedy at the top of the pyramid that destroyed our country. God bless you and your family.

  • @svennbreng Thank you. And God Bless you and your family, as well. Take care.

  • Great Video ! I recently mad my children watch the riots in Rome and Athens so when the time comes they will appreciate what they have . Good Luck Best wishes

    Pastor

  • @Redbirds1100 Well, it's something to watch as it seems our world is still going down the tubes. Not just America.

I hope its not true. I try to think that the worst is over.

  • I Don't go with cans so much..., 20pouds of rice, 20 pound of beans(white), red beans, lentils, mung beans(can be spouted into salads), whole weat pasta(keeps forever), with jars of spaghetti sauce, dried fruits and also a wide variety of nuts.Cereals can be bought whole if you have a hand mill(cheap enough)to make fresh flour(for pancakes and bread), peanut butters and jams(desserts), then,I could throw in some canned meats and fish, but not in large quantities.Make use of food banks, churches!

  • @Jai666666666 Yah, I'm just now learning how to soak and boil down pinto beans. Haha.

  • RIGHT ON EAT ANYTHING ON YOUR PLATE AS LONG AS ITS GOOD EAT! ITS ABOUT SURVIVAL AND REMEMBER WASTE NOT WANT NOT COOL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. GHOST!

  • Yeah, when I was a kid, going "I won't eat/do that" was not an option (and to be honest, I really felt I was lucky, cause things that really matter, I did had), I remember feeling grateful. Today things seem to me upside down, kids take things for granted, parents work all day to pay the bills, the rent, clothing, FOOD, but miss the fancy clothing or that new "every other kid at school have it" toy and somehow you're a mean/selfish parent. Hang in there, You're a Hero. (an uncredited one though)

  • @CRPnoVan Hey, thanks for the comment. I appreciate the kudos but I'm not a hero, by any means. Not even close.

  • Pemmican is probably the best survival food - dried raw meat (beef, venison, no pork), combined with rendered fat. Easy to make. The meat must be dried at a temp < 110 F. The fat must be rendered. Some people use organic coconut oil. You can live on pemmican (if made properly) indefinitely. Pemmican lasts 30 years. Arctic explorers who ate canned food died. Those who ate pemmican thrived

  • I had a similar experience with a rude awaking regarding not having enough food storage. Last year, for about 6 weeks, money was so tight. The electric was down several times for several days. (that means no water). Anyways, I went through our stash in the basement so quickly, that there were very few items to rotate.

I think you are right on with the "triple it" advice.

  • @tesskansas Hey, Tess. Yeah, it's funny how life turns into reality when the shit hits the fan. Haha. Makes us smarter, though.

  • @PatriotMuscle, hi again.

I hear that Wise storage food is good from a kids point of view. I buy from patriotfoods of Eldorado, KS. It is pretty inexpensive per serving, and like I say, I hear that kids like it. Not sure if yours will. Best of luck.Nice videos.

  • @tesskansas Hey, Tess. Thanks for the heads up on PatriotFoods. I'm going to look into it. My little girl eats anything, luckily. But my boy is much like his mother, too picky.

  • Thanks for this video. I too have been building my food supply. When you are back on your feet, check out Shelf Reliance. A great way to organize your canned goods.

  • @biblesnbarbells Thanks for your well wishes. We are doing better now. is Shelf Reliance a website?

  • @biblesnbarbells

Yes. It is a website that sells many diferent shelf configurations. From a table top model to large models.

  • @Dustycajungurl Hey, glad to hear from you. Yes, these troubles we are in may be difficult, but we're also learning how to take care of ourselves, even better than we did before. I will never again go without food storage - even in the good times.

I re-built our food stores, but we've come so used to using them, that when we haven't any fresh food in the frig, we just grab a couple cans, haha!

    Take care.

  • I HOPE ALL IS STILL WELL BROTHER

  • @usfreedom22 Thank you. Things are better. I have employment, not great pay, but at least it's some. And we're making plans and such for going back to school. It's a crawl, not a run, haha!

But the wife and kids are fed, clothed, and warm. That's what counts!

  • Learn to pressure can. You can put up your own meats much cheaper than buying at the store. You can put up fruits and veggies. Go to orchards and purchase fruits in bulk. Shop garage sales for equipment like pressure canners, glass jars and dehydrators. Find a friend with a Costco or Sams membership and buy rice and pasta in bulk there....usually much cheaper than at the store. Shop loss-leaders at the store and clip coupons. It all adds up.

  • @fetch33 Yeah, just collecting canned food is getting expensive. Also, there's only so much variety with it.

  • thanks for your wisdom, none of us know what the future will hold, all we can do is be prepared for the worst but hope for the best.

  • @LocknL0ad Thanks for your comment. Yes, we'll see what happens after the first of the year. Supposedly, that's when the hyper-inflation will start.

  • @GulfCoastJaguarundi That's about when I started storing for us, February 2010. I have more now thanI did then, and it has spilled over into our kid's play room. Haha! But it's necessary.

    Take care, and God bless!

  • Right. I'm hording as many 12 gauge slug as I can afford.

  • Thats right eat what you have. I was raised that way and my children are being raised that way also. When you are poor that's just life.

  • @mycomama Haha. Well, unfortunately, even icky food begins to taste good after a while, if that's all you have to eat.

  • I would store for much longer. If you study the banking system, you'll see that the federal reserve's game is nearing its mathematical limit which means that we may hit hyperinflation shortly. I don't want to sound too alarmist, but stockpile on guns and ammo as well. Also, stay out of the cities, the fed may want to take out as many of us as possible.

  • Glad your weren't my Dad!

  • @pbudinsky1 I'm glad you aren't my son.

  • Hey PM, I have a small food storage of my own and I've been asking around but no one seems to know the answer: do u know of a way to extend the shelf life of vitamin and mineral supplements? Not talking 6 years longer or anything, just a few months longer to keep your body healthy as long as possible. Thanks. Great video btw.

  • @yoshie8706 Just keep them cool and dry. And best to keep them in a dark place too. The UV's might deteriorate them. Other than that, there's not much else you can do.

I have aspirin that is a year old. I take them, and they still work. So, I think that the dates put on these bottles can be misleading. The contents should still be good, if you take good care of them.

    Take care.

  • PM, I appreciated your sincerity -- and humility. It's traumatizing to be faced with the realization that something as fundamental as feeding your family may, at times be beyond your control. I've been there too, brother. Food insecurity is a growing problem everywhere. It afflicts billions and I fear it's going to worsen as time passes.

Trebling your initial canned food (and water) estimates is good advice. Once you get that, start storing quantities of wheat, rice, oats, noodles, etc.

  • @bee13zz Hey, thanks for the comment. Haha. My wife keeps telling me to not store too much rice, but then we always run out of it. So I bought two huge bags and week ago, and the next time we go to the market, I'll buy another. Noodles is a good Idea. And I already store lots of oatmeal. It's the best cereal.

    Take care!

  • I hope things get better for you.I'm prepping too, but I definately going to the store for more tomm. thanx for the advise.God bless.

  • @ilovety65 Things have gotten better, thanks! But I've already begun to rebuild our stores. You never know if or when it can happen again. So I'm certainly a believer in preparedness, now!

    Take care.

  • Hi....Feel your pain!! Great message for sure!! The mentality of eat everything on your plate comes from (in my opinion) being hungary and desperate. When I was growing up there were many times when hungary and desperate was the case. Be glad your other family members don't have that mentality. But after going to bed hungary a day or two, they might change their position. :) Not sure what area of the country you are in but check with local farmers for culls/gleaning..you can get fresh that way.

  • @CHEECHAKOSMONTANA Hey, thanks for leaving the comment. Actually, right now we're in North Carolina. We escaped from Los Angeles to here last December.

It took a few days and a few meals, but my son finally got used to the canned food - or some of it, anyway. And my wife even suggested that I buy more for the futer, just in case. That surprised me.

But like you said, a few meals of starving, and you grow a whole new attitude about food!

  • Great video.. Thanks. I have my short and medium storage and now working on long term. But still I probably don't have enough.

  • Great vid! This is a good testament for people who have not started with food storage. You need to realize that there are 3 levels of storage, short, medium and long term. You are on the right track with the medium term with the canned goods. Stock your freezers with meat when on sale for short term and then when ready, graduate to long term freeze dried items from places like shelf reliance and honeyville grain. These can be expensive, but done right month by month you can build on it.

  • @atticus9799 Thanks. We had trouble stocking meats because our freezer didn't/doesn't work very well, and the effing property manager wouldn't fix it. As the summer heat cools, the freezer seems to be kicking in again, however. Those other items, I'll take on advisement, as we don't have the bucks to goes for expensive stuff right now. Again, thanks.

  • depressing jeeshhh... Maybe if you start focusing on a better days instead of the end you'll get to a better place.

  • @crushingright Don't worry, things are getting better, even as we speak....er, type,

  • I know where yuor comming from, I've been saving food and supplies for years. this year our house burned down, we would have been fxxked if nor for food stored at our camp. It really saved our family. Hope things get better soon. Not only will you eat what you have saved you will like it cause when you have nothing even SPAM taste good

  • @tweaky12 I'm sorry all that sh#t happened to you. And I hope things are getting better. Yep, it's important to keep prepared. This has been a huge learning experience for us, especially me.

  • Awesome stuff Patriot Muscle!

Thanks for your advice and wisdom.
