  • i'm a spy.

i steal your laptop, you bricked it but i have extracted the hard disk from it and connected it to my pc. the laptop itself ? i think i gave it to some hobo on a random street's corner.

  • @patachu666 ummm... Both PC and HDD are LOCKED.

  • All it takes to defeat this is to change CPU's on the motherboard.

  • THE NUMBER OF JELLY INTELBOTNET WEEBOS IN DELICIOUS

  • Right, I am definitely sticking with my LGA1366 for quite a while. Yes, yes, I know desktop Sandies don't have killswitches, but I do not want to support a product line that promotes killswitches and DRM.

  • Intel: A Hackers' Paradise.

  • @Agronymous bruteforcing will be much faster with sandybridge :)

  • i like these little kids that think they know shit about computer. its so funny :)

the feature is off by default, and a program cant easily be made to "brick" computers, because the option is enabled by the BIOS. AMD, while cheaper, doest give same performance that intel does, deal with it. also, who came up with bulldozer? such a lulzy name

  • Also trolling AMDfags, enjoy your garbage "value" performance which flagships barely compete with last gen i5 series. HAHAHAHA faggots

  • @dingumfCallofDuty no need to get all jelly botnetfag.

  • @EpicPoseidonBeard btw "botnet" is disabled on p67 mobos

enjoy your corei5 performance in 2011

    u amd?

  • @dingumfCallofDuty this wont last long, bulldozer is due in a small handful of months.

  • @TheCompyshop you really think anything from amd will beat sandybridge? more cores doesn't mean crap. it's just like the megahertz myth.

  • @dingumfCallofDuty AMD is reviving the FX series processors. FX was known for the HIGHEST performance processors back in the old pentium 4 days. It was shut down due to core 2 EXTREME processor release, but after sandy bridge was released, they said they were reviving the FX, thats quite a big hint that they have something BIG cooking up in their labs. 4 moduals/ 8 cores will beat i think anything intel has to offer till maybe ivy bridge which is in the waay future.

  • God you people are retarded

Do you really think this option is turned on by default and cannot be turned off?

    Ya'll niggas trolling

  • well this is fucking gay.

  • Shit that plane's going to crash in to the terminal everybody get the fuck down the new scanners didn't work oh my god

  • Inb4 griefers write a program to brick random computers.

What the fuck is this shit intel?

Don't sync up to my computer every time I connect to the internet. That's fucking soviet apple level of bullshit.

Go fuck yourself, I'm going bulldozer. Even if it's shit.

  • @johnaiton you're retarded

do you read up on ANYTHING before spouting bullshit? IT'S NOT TURNED ON BY DEFAULT.

  • SO LONG SANDYBALLS, BULLDOZER HERE WE COME

  • HAHAHA Time to buy AMD!

  • Longhorn?

  • AMD MASTER RACE REPORTING

    WHY SO JELLY INTEL PEASANTS?

  • But then i simply remove the hdd and put it in another computer?

If it's not optional to buy a processor without this feature i will say bye bye to intel.

  • At first this sounds great: if an owner loses a laptop it can be remotely disabled to ensure no sensitive data is compromised. But essentially we are giving up control of our computers and putting that control in another’s hands.

With the Patriot Act in place and and legislation like the ‘kill switch’ bill, many of the rights we took for granted are threatened. It is well within reason to fear this type of technology as it could be used as a means of control and censorship.

  • I think the chinese goverment is so happy about this option

  • @neshi3 *cough* Office of Cyberspace Policy, Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010 *cough*

  • I think the chinese goverment is so happy bout this option

  • I really don't know if this is a good thing or not.

If it's optional AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE, then sure. Go right ahead. But if it's just an option you turn off in the BIOS, then I would be really *really* scared. That means it's still on the chip, and hackers can always find a way to break these sorts of encryption technologies in the name of reputation.

Either way, it's safer and cheaper to just buy AMD. Price per performance, AMD beats Intel every time. Do the research guys.

  • Say there's a business using a Linux based operating system. Would this feature prevent them from using the Linux based OS on these systems? From the way it sounds, yes, I'm assuming the firmware locks out new operating system installs. Looks like I'm going to AMD for my system, and implement my own security layer.

  • so this will be optional? or no?

  • does it work with my alienware M15x? I've an i7-740QM non vPro

  • intel never ceases to amaze me.

  • dont do this it going to be the most haked program of all time

  • most research companies are aleardy using this kind of technology. :)

  • awesome. great technology at work.

  • PEELZ HEER.

  • This is why Intel is better then AMD.

  • I liked the acme part

  • sweet

  • 9th

  • Ima go tell ma homies about this magic.

  • So this is why Microsoft said that PC with Windows 8 is going to be new safe game console that will remove PIRACY!

  • 2k is coming!!!

  • a poison pill

    OR A VIRUS
