I've made a let's play on this game, feel free if you wanna watch my let's play of, Revenge of Shinobi. This was a pretty good game, Shinobi III was better but still was one of my favorites!
@GoliathGrowler He did Shinobi 3 as well, and did some of the tracks from SoR2 and few from SoR3. And yes. "Terrible Beat" is probably my favorite song from Revenge of Shinobi.
for the nuclear transporter boss you could also go to the otherside of it, just below, you can stand on that ledge safe from the elctiric shock thing.
To be fair, Marvel actually gave them the license to use Spiderman in later versions of this game, (Said license was lost for the Virtual Console re-release, therefore Spidey got replaced in that version with someone in a Pink Leo-tard. Same boss though)
Of course, this meant the Batman boss got reskinned in the next release, and in the release after that Godzilla got replaced. (As did a Rambo enemy.)
Oddly enough, the Terminator is in ALL versions of the game.

But IF Terminator [he's clearly Terminator] becomes Hulk to turn once again into Terminator and die, so as well when Batman is getting closer to death he becomes Batgay. :DDD
actually boss 3 there is a note. you could have used the blind spot to your advantage. when the computer opens itsel,f stand right next to the shell, you won't get hit and the lasers wont fire. much easier like that.

The shadow dancer that you named in the second boss fight is actualy the masked ninja final on the shinobi arcade! though he is not do exactly the same stuff.Nice run.

you say at 7:43 that you need a power-up to get the good ending. Yes it helps but even without it i can have the good ending. All you need to do is hit the black spot on the wall (left or right) and it stop for a few seconds the ceiling from coming down on the girl. Alternate hitting this spot and Neo Zeed without the POW and you'll win the good ending (always work with me)
So this was the end of the story. A girl trapped in a cage. And I had been wondering about the game's end for the past 20 years that what could it be because I never reached the final round.
Think the bosses are trying to make a statement Shinobi is better than other ninjas Shinobi is cooler than a samurai Shinobi is better than the terminator Shinobi is better and fast than a missile transporter with an electric coating Shinobi is better than spider man Shinobi is better than batman Shinobi is better than friggin godzilla Shinobi is better WTF IS THAT!? AAAH KILL IT! Shinobi is better than everyone :P Shinobi 3 shinobi takes on All the Xmen at once :D
They didn't technically get sued, but they needed to make several revisions to the game in a short space of time to eliminate any copyright issues. I believe the first version of the game, Sega was allowed to use Spider-Man's likeness, but in the next revision they actually put a disclaimer at the beginning to back it up. Then Batman was replaced with Devilman...Godzilla became a walking skeleton, and so on and so forth.
This is the English version, However in the Japanese version you do have spiderman and the terminator-look-a-like, but not batman and godzilla. In the Jap.version there is a mutated batmonster and a skeleton-dinosaur or something...
That's not the japanese version, it's the B and C revisions to the game. They're also shown in the English versions as well. Batman changes to Devilman from the anime comics and films, and Godzilla loses his skin.
If someone incorporated big names like terminator, godzila and spiderman so blatantly in their games during this day and age, there'd be lawsuits up the ass
Best ninja game EVER. I've always loved this game and its bosses, some taken from Marvel characters (5:30) with Spiderman, and even the Terminator (2:19). If Ninja Gaiden set the standard for Ninja games, Revenge of Shinobi PERFECTED it. Also, I'd like to note that in the European version I got, Batman doesn't look like Batman, but rather some kind of devil. Also, the Godzilla boss has no skin, and instead a skeleton with guts showing.
I've loved this game forever, and it's amazing to me the different ways to defeat these bosses. I've NEVER done that with the level 3 boss, for instance, and your way is MUCH quicker :). I'm going to give that a go!
I was in awe of this game when it came out,because I only had the NES at the time.I picked up the Genesis soon after playing this and Streets Of Rage.Though my favorite system of the era is still the SNES.
i can see this game is telling me that i wont like it when its angry so it will be back, its my frendly neighborhood godamn batman and TO RUN ITS GODZILLA!!! i can see it now YAY!
And so, our hero Shinobi beat the very generic and odd villain, rescued the girl, saved the world from nuclear destruction, and gave everyone a reason to sue SEGA.
Oh my god! Its been ages since I have played this game. Those were the days when I was bored of playing every game I owned, this one at least kept me semi-entertained.
Lovely ending to a great game :) Do you see that every arcade game you have to rescue your loved ones?? like splatterhouse (jenifer and david) Sonic the hedgehog (the little animals) lol :L

One star for using a power up to beat the last boss. I searched up a boss run to find out how to beat the last boss and this video is useless since I don't have the power up.
How to beat the final boss without a power up? The same way you beat him with a power up, and every so often you fire a shruiken into the little hole in the wall.
That's it. No difference. Hell use the lightning magic if you're finding it that hard.
Happy? Are you aware this video is nearly 3 years old and is therefore quite out of date.
Also, this is a video with over 143 4-5 star ratings, do you really think a single one star is even going to make a dent?

Nice video, the game is one of my childhood favorites as well. A few points:
1- You can stab the terminator, you kill kim very fast doing it.
2- On the nuclear transport you can jump at the edge of the truck behind the last mechanism to safely avoid the electricity.
3- Had never noticed the bra thing, and it's been 21 years since I played it lol.
4- It's easy to get to Zeed with a power up. There is one hidden on the left wall in the room just before him.
5- Indeed, awesome music.

Best ninja game EVER. I've always loved this game and its bosses, some taken from Marvel characters (5:30) with Spiderman, and even the Terminator (2:19). If Ninja Gaiden set the standard for Ninja games, Revenge of Shinobi PERFECTED it. Also, I'd like to note that in the European version I got, Batman doesn't look like Batman, but rather some kind of devil. Also, the Godzilla boss has no skin, and instead a skeleton with guts showing.

I've loved this game forever, and it's amazing to me the different ways to defeat these bosses. I've NEVER done that with the level 3 boss, for instance, and your way is MUCH quicker :). I'm going to give that a go!

I was in awe of this game when it came out,because I only had the NES at the time.I picked up the Genesis soon after playing this and Streets Of Rage.Though my favorite system of the era is still the SNES.

One star for using a power up to beat the last boss. I searched up a boss run to find out how to beat the last boss and this video is useless since I don't have the power up.

How to beat the final boss without a power up? The same way you beat him with a power up, and every so often you fire a shruiken into the little hole in the wall.
That's it. No difference. Hell use the lightning magic if you're finding it that hard.
Happy? Are you aware this video is nearly 3 years old and is therefore quite out of date.
Also, this is a video with over 143 4-5 star ratings, do you really think a single one star is even going to make a dent?
