@HuntinAndFishin101 yer probably over bending your elbow. try bending your elbow slightly less. ive never been able to bend my arm fully straight so i dont have the problem of the inside of my elbow being too close to the string. i saw a friend do it to himself. the only thing i could say is 'dude, get yer elbow out of there.' give er a pull, lemme know how it goes
@crazydriver1978 sometimes even if its bent it still hits, do you think its because its an older bow I have a Martin Ocelot (you've probably never heard of it) i was wondering if a string stopper would help?
when i first started shooting compound i was less acurate then when i shoot recurve you still need a lot of techinque no matter what you shoot even if you shoot with a release aid
did anybody here first become interested in buying a hunting bow,,after watching Burt Reynolds ,Jon Voight in the 1972 movie DELIVERENCE...they say bow sales, sky rocketed after the movie was first released..
@awesomesauce117 They almost feel harder to draw until you reach the point on the compound when you experience "let off", and you hold a lot less weight at full draw. Regular bows have the full weight all of the time
I'm getting a bit tired of all these haughty people talking about how they shoot a medieval long bow. Guess what? I'm a 110 pound girl. I have to shoot a compound to get the poundage to guarantee I'll kill a deer not just injure it. So stop trying to be so snotty and superior. And to all those who think only rednecks shoot compound bows, tell it to my gucci purse and my 4.286 gpa.
I just bought a pse carrera for $150. Its been maybe shot 6 times and the reason i know it belonged to my step dad and hunted twice with it. It has everything with case. My ? is is this bow still a good bow or is it to outdated. Its 8 years old and not a scratch on it. Also how much is it worth? thanks to anyone who answers..
@1219548tom still a good bow i have a sixteen year bow that still works fine keep shooting it and take care of it and it well last a long time you should even pass it on to your kids some day
i have a "peep hole" or whatever its called on my bow. it's a hole in the string that you look through at the sights. i want to upgrade to a better bow when i get a little better at shooting so how should i aim then? should i just try to make the sights level with my eyes? sorry, novice bow hunter, thanks
@shmellhole123 dude have you ever tried to shoot a pig at 50 yards with a recurve? its possibul but it sucks we use compound because there faster and they kill the animals alot faster most of the time the arrow goes right threw them and they bleed out in 30-75 seconds... and you cant shoot it with your fingers it would cut them off with the force it takes to breake its tention....
Hey everybody I just got a new compound bow and I am very very new to bows and I don't know how get my bow to fire because the string doesn't move.It is brand new never been used. If anyone could help me with this I would very much appreciate it.
@GermanMachine7 it would only move if you pull on it matelol get it to turn the cams and bob's your uncle if the draw length isn't to long set the weight down a bit till you get the hang of it.
@spearouys hahahaha thank you.hey I have another question.my draw stop was loose and I lost it during shot and i was wondering do bow places sell draw stops?
it's funny because he thinks people aren't good enough to just your fingers to releases so he says that 99.99 people hunt with a mechanical and that is obviously not true. hunt the way that kept us alive and use recurve that is what non-rednecks do
@NinjaReptiles If you have a BassPro shop near you you can call them and ask if they have an archery department and they should be able to adjust your bow for you but even then it can still not fit you since they can only adjust it so much.
Yes you can shoot this without a release. That's what he called finger shooting. However you won't get as good of a shot every time finger shooting as you will with a release
What is there to learn ? it does everything for you. You just pull it back , line up the sights and shoot. Medieval warbows take years to master and real skill to shoot.
I shoot a medieval style English longbow-no arrow rest, just wood, the string and my hands. Compounds with the gears, release, trigger etc--are like bow guns. Yow. I guess you can learn to shoot these pretty quickly--the true longbows of old take forever to master, but it feels lie you're moving Nature. But compounds are fascinating technical machines.
@prohumanbeing yea but there harder to shoot because you can adjust the poudage and its not a garented hit every time because the shights move your longbow maby classic but its nothing ones me and my father were shoot our bows and his arrow went it to the branch we found a couple days later it had went thruogh all a small tree
@prohumanbeing I got a traditional longbow but it has a arrow rest and it really makes me wonder how the indians ever got food shooting these things. Lol im new to bows but ide still never be a pussy and buy a compound bow which does all the work.
It may as well be a crossbow, honestly. The crossbow was designed as an unskilled version of the bow for peasants and conscript soldiers in the BC and dark ages, as a hunting utility and weapon. A compound bow is just.. strange. its a bow that's made to be easy to use, but if you are buying a bow that's made to be easy to use you as well use a crossbow since that's what a crossbow is.

i dont like these machine thingys, any person can shoot one of these and it takes no tallent, i dont use these pieces of plastic i shoot a real bow, A warbow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Drivinfast247 and of course you dont have 1000 lives to spend! LOL I love the game, but I am also a bow hunter.... this people need to get off the couch and do real stuff!
i have a 45lb redzone falcon and i have it turned up to the maximum poundage but it says it is only at 37 pounds do you know what is wrong. I bought it second had so is the string streched or something.
@Drivinfast247 they do need to get a life. but compound bows exist for a reason. silencers don't actually muffle gun fire noise, if you need to kill with as little sound as possible and as reliably as possible then a compound bow is a very legitimate option.
@facelessred A silencer/ supressor (i'm never sure of the differance) does make a gun allot quiter- I should know, I shoot with one.
Normally I wear ear defenders, with one on it's like a car door slamming.
If you want to kill with no noise- everyone forgets the slingshot- they can go straight through your skull if you have a powerful one, and they are silent to load, draw and fire.
@Drivinfast247 yea because recon that are behind enemy lines should use grenades so they wont get noticed right?Navy Seals and special forces WILL use a crossbow or regular bow.But i definelty agree about the COd comments.
@Drivinfast247 Actually some special ops forces do have cross bows in their firearms locker. Probably not the most commonly used weapon but they do have them.
@2B4UAZReppin Actually some special ops forces do have cross bows in their firearms locker. Probably not the most commonly used weapon but they do have them.
@Drivinfast247 They have been used in stealth infiltration scenarios due to the silent nature and superior range over suppressed rifles with subsonic ammo. That's a niche application though.
Thank you for posting this, I just picked up my first compound bow, and have not yet shot it. I would like to accomplish my first shot without hurting myself, and your video will help me stay safe. I have been told that my bow (an old Jennings T-Star II) is a highly accurate competition model that won tourneys in the 70's and 80's, but I need to learn how to shoot it. I guess I need to buy a release now. Thanks again.
p.s. Why are so many idiots talking about video games on this post?
@fttrx2 do you play COD or what? M16 weak? bullshit, a m16 will send a 55 grain bullet at 3000 feet per second, with 1700 foot lbs of energy. A 5.56 exit wound is even larger than a 7.62x39 due to hydrostatic forces. a 5.56 keeps these ballistics way past 300 yards, much farther than a crossbow. STOP PLAYING CALL OF DUTY AND LEARN SOMETHING REAL ABOUT GUNS.
You should also mention, on the draw, keep your finger BEHIND the trigger until your are ready to shoot. I see a lot of people at my local range that do not do this, and it leads to some embarrassing moments. It could even be dangerous. Good video though!
@Drivinfast247 You said it perfectly. The draw weight it would require to pierce through body armor would take too long to cock, plus ammo would be impossible to scavenge. Guns have more range as well.
An army with 1000 men with TAC-15 crossbows versus 500 men with M16's? M16.
@arcadeimpact123 Yes you can , though it's rare to find anyone who does .
Anybody who tells you there are hard and fast rules to shooting a bow can stuff it . Shoot it , enjoy it , don't get hurt and don't hurt anybody . That's all .
@Drivinfast247 I have a darton 30mx compound bow, think its from the 80's i dont know much about bow's is it a good one? is it worth keeping? what is it worth?
i was wondering if you could shoot a right handed compound bow while holding it in your right hand. I have done this with my recurve and i have shot fine
@darc587 Well it's not impossible , but the first problem you would have would be the cables bumping against your arm . And the second might be arrow clearance of the riser depending on your release method .
@darc587 no you cant dumbass, arrow rest is going to be on the other side, plus compound bows have some desings that wont let you hold it with your right hand
@ceilingkatt obviously you never shot an arrow .. wanna talk about animals in pain go to your local slaughter house .. i personally had a crossbow once .. 50 pounds .. that thing was shooting through a phone book .. and if you shot an animal with it it would die just as quick as from a hunting rifle ..
@punkpropaganda I have a darton 30mx compound bow, think its from the 80's i dont know much about bow's is it a good one? is it worth keeping? what is it worth?
@DIABOLI999666 uhm first thing rambos a movie, im sorry to let you know:P and second thing is rambo uses a compound bow like in the video not a cross bow like what the other guys talkin bout
@DIABOLI999666 hahha yeah i know where your coming from and like yeah bows are good but you only got one shot so your right guns do out perform them other than sound that is:P
Okay do a favor to all beginner archers and stop making videos I just started last summer 2010 I'm still learning but you are no where close to being helpful to beginners and what is this about please watch someone else shoot it to test D loop if everyone followed that no one would shoot the bow how about drawn a safe direction with an arrow in it at all times
@Drivinfast247 oh really? you sir are very very silly delta force is allowed to use what ever type of weapon they feel is best for the siuation they are in so it is very possiable that they coudl use a crossbow
can somebody help me, i got given a compound bow (never had one before) and the sight on it is different to the ones i see on the utube vids and i dont know how to use it.
Na I don't think 99,9% use the releaser cause the recurve shooters doesn't use a releaser but I think you know that you just said wrong or something...
@MrSTUD300 LMFAO, i've got tears running down ma face, it's 5 AM here and i think i've nearly woken up the house! awwww dear! Good vod nontheless. a can't see! awww man!
i learned alot from this vid, but all i can say is.. why the f*ck do i have to watch the same stupid commercial for "donkey kong returns"!? I never even liked him before he left!
Why does the millitary not use these, they could make arrows for: Explosives, Tracking satelite device, armor piercing tips, already pierces bullet vest, and specialist would get good at it, could carry a pistol for emergencies.
@miles305678 Well, because the enemy would be looking into their scopes 1000 yards away laughing and saying to their comrades "Bahaha Da!, Da!, Ze Bowz & ARROWEZ!" while they start picking us off one by one lol.
@tokiwartooth95 Wrong they did not become superior untill a couple hundred more years of advancement, and as I said the British millitary does use some crossbows for certain operations. So :P on you
@miles305678 Give me one advantage of a bow over a gun, A gun can shoot farther, and more accurately, more times, Bows are totally outdated. Any explosive bows are trumped by modern day artillery and portable launchers.
@tokiwartooth95 Not much, they stop use bows as a primary weapon or else they might be just as good, but because of this they cannot function as a primary weapon, but specialist do sometimes use them in the British and one other army I cannot remember, because they can launch trackers, its silent, the heavy arrows with sharp heads slice bullet vest, can be used to launch climbing ropes, also their was a 3000lbs crossbow that could fire a bolt over speed of sound, shows what possible, thats all
Unless we get automatic crossbows or some quick hands for bows thats highly doubtful unless its a sneak mission then i highly agree but honestly ide rather have a fully automatic AR for war but i love bows 10x more.
@ScarsandRevenge Finally somebody who can read! :D thats what I have been saying, 1: They DO use them for special ops, 2: I was refering to the possibilities had we used bows instead of gunz :P good day my friend! :D
@kawasakiracerdude they don't make clips for that pistol - you're thinking of a magazine. and a silencer on a .45 only sounds like a slightly, slightly less loud BOOM
@miles305678 they do..... but more crossbows than actual bows, as they are more accurate. They are primarily used for stealth missions due to their complete lack of sound and thermal trace....
@MrKicks2010 Um... Do people know how to read? They DO use crossbows in some armies like I said for Specail Operation purposes... So everyone stop spamming this video trying to correct me eh?
@miles305678 becuase if they did one none of the above you have put down would work becuase a bow has not got the right speed or power to do any of them and two a pistol would is only a side are for elite forces and generals not commandos.. sounds good in words but in actions it would never work.
@TINYSAMURAI123 Dude you can't hear bow when shooting even from 10 meters if you have right span and silencers. And yes, it works. With bow you could take almost certain hit to head from 50 meters (and if better archer from even more far.). Well don't trust me, just have shooted like 5 and half year from my small life. And what you mean with the right speed? You can shoot 2 arrows in almost 10 seconds if needed. Please stop trying to be a smartass about things that you know nothing.
@Militaizi Dude i shoot as well ( hoyte Rampage xt ) and speed is a very big factor if your 10 meters it don't mean a thing yes, and ill be profound if a commando in the army wont use a knife and that range, and if your 50 meters it takes a load of skill to get it right one time and for it to be a kill shot and not make a sound from the man you just killed. please stop trying to be a smart ass about things you only know little about at all.
I'm apparently deaf on my right ear...

How exactly do you unclip the release when shooting the bow? (I've never shot one before)
OutdoorDreamer733 9 months ago
@OutdoorDreamer733 i have one you just pull the little trigger, like look at his little finger at 0:20, there you go :D

@MasaruNishi Ohh..I get it now. Thanks!
OutdoorDreamer733 9 months ago
@fttrx2 do you play COD or what? M16 weak? bullshit, a m16 will send a 55 grain bullet at 3000 feet per second, with 1700 foot lbs of energy. A 5.56 exit wound is even larger than a 7.62x39 due to hydrostatic forces. a 5.56 keeps these ballistics way past 300 yards, much farther than a crossbow. STOP PLAYING CALL OF DUTY AND LEARN SOMETHING REAL ABOUT GUNS.
zhagray 9 months ago
@Drivinfast247 Thats why Black Ops is based on cold war, not 21st century!
kalorikalmo 9 months ago
@Drivinfast247 This is true if you were in battle using a ballistic knife or a crossbow you would probably get shot by your allies

You should also mention, on the draw, keep your finger BEHIND the trigger until your are ready to shoot. I see a lot of people at my local range that do not do this, and it leads to some embarrassing moments. It could even be dangerous. Good video though!

bmxer19ful 10 months ago
nice
MrRAYSIRX 11 months ago
@Drivinfast247 You said it perfectly. The draw weight it would require to pierce through body armor would take too long to cock, plus ammo would be impossible to scavenge. Guns have more range as well.
An army with 1000 men with TAC-15 crossbows versus 500 men with M16's? M16.

can you use a release on a recurved bow?
arcadeimpact123 11 months ago
@arcadeimpact123 Yes you can , though it's rare to find anyone who does .
Anybody who tells you there are hard and fast rules to shooting a bow can stuff it . Shoot it , enjoy it , don't get hurt and don't hurt anybody . That's all .

i was wondering if you could shoot a right handed compound bow while holding it in your right hand. I have done this with my recurve and i have shot fine
darc587 11 months ago
@darc587 Well it's not impossible , but the first problem you would have would be the cables bumping against your arm . And the second might be arrow clearance of the riser depending on your release method .
GlendonG 11 months ago
@darc587 no you cant dumbass, arrow rest is going to be on the other side, plus compound bows have some desings that wont let you hold it with your right hand
better go buy a left handed bow

@ceilingkatt obviously you never shot an arrow .. wanna talk about animals in pain go to your local slaughter house .. i personally had a crossbow once .. 50 pounds .. that thing was shooting through a phone book .. and if you shot an animal with it it would die just as quick as from a hunting rifle ..

NObama28 1 year ago
Why does the millitary not use these, they could make arrows for: Explosives, Tracking satelite device, armor piercing tips, already pierces bullet vest, and specialist would get good at it, could carry a pistol for emergencies.
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678 Well, because the enemy would be looking into their scopes 1000 yards away laughing and saying to their comrades "Bahaha Da!, Da!, Ze Bowz & ARROWEZ!" while they start picking us off one by one lol.
300fps vs 2000+fps, your choice.
TheeAntic 1 year ago
@TheeAntic I am not saying as a primary weapon, for special ops like stuffs. And I already found that the british army uses a kind of crossbow :)
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678 That is by far, the most stupid and dangerous idea ever.
The military uses guns for a reason, because they succeeded bows over 400 years ago.
tokiwartooth95 1 year ago
@tokiwartooth95 Wrong they did not become superior untill a couple hundred more years of advancement, and as I said the British millitary does use some crossbows for certain operations. So :P on you
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678 Give me one advantage of a bow over a gun, A gun can shoot farther, and more accurately, more times, Bows are totally outdated. Any explosive bows are trumped by modern day artillery and portable launchers.
tokiwartooth95 1 year ago
@tokiwartooth95 Not much, they stop use bows as a primary weapon or else they might be just as good, but because of this they cannot function as a primary weapon, but specialist do sometimes use them in the British and one other army I cannot remember, because they can launch trackers, its silent, the heavy arrows with sharp heads slice bullet vest, can be used to launch climbing ropes, also their was a 3000lbs crossbow that could fire a bolt over speed of sound, shows what possible, thats all
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678 because machine guns are way way more powerful, the ammo is smaller, and they are more versatile for diff situations.
1a111a1 1 year ago
@miles305678
Unless we get automatic crossbows or some quick hands for bows thats highly doubtful unless its a sneak mission then i highly agree but honestly ide rather have a fully automatic AR for war but i love bows 10x more.
ScarsandRevenge 1 year ago
@ScarsandRevenge Finally somebody who can read! :D thats what I have been saying, 1: They DO use them for special ops, 2: I was refering to the possibilities had we used bows instead of gunz :P good day my friend! :D
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678
You see great minds think alike my friend.
they make tactical bows for spec op missions ive seen one there pretty sweet.
Good day to you as well.

kawasakiracerdude 1 year ago
@kawasakiracerdude Ah! The good stuff :)
miles305678 1 year ago
@kawasakiracerdude they don't make clips for that pistol - you're thinking of a magazine. and a silencer on a .45 only sounds like a slightly, slightly less loud BOOM
pacificimporters 1 year ago
@miles305678 they do..... but more crossbows than actual bows, as they are more accurate. They are primarily used for stealth missions due to their complete lack of sound and thermal trace....

@miles305678 war is not a video game, this is way too slow in a real fire fight.
MrKicks2010 1 year ago
@MrKicks2010 Um... Do people know how to read? They DO use crossbows in some armies like I said for Specail Operation purposes... So everyone stop spamming this video trying to correct me eh?
miles305678 1 year ago
@miles305678 Yes, special operations are generally unseen, covert ops. Hitting someone who's moving, and firing back? Guns are far better, I'm sorry.
iammishahearmeroar 1 year ago
@miles305678 they dont use bow but crossbow as well
jaredwii 1 year ago
@miles305678 becuase if they did one none of the above you have put down would work becuase a bow has not got the right speed or power to do any of them and two a pistol would is only a side are for elite forces and generals not commandos.. sounds good in words but in actions it would never work.
TINYSAMURAI123 1 year ago 9
@TINYSAMURAI123 Dude you can't hear bow when shooting even from 10 meters if you have right span and silencers. And yes, it works. With bow you could take almost certain hit to head from 50 meters (and if better archer from even more far.). Well don't trust me, just have shooted like 5 and half year from my small life. And what you mean with the right speed? You can shoot 2 arrows in almost 10 seconds if needed. Please stop trying to be a smartass about things that you know nothing.
Militaizi 7 months ago

@Militaizi Dude i shoot as well ( hoyte Rampage xt ) and speed is a very big factor if your 10 meters it don't mean a thing yes, and ill be profound if a commando in the army wont use a knife and that range, and if your 50 meters it takes a load of skill to get it right one time and for it to be a kill shot and not make a sound from the man you just killed. please stop trying to be a smart ass about things you only know little about at all.
