The ps move is not just like an hd wii you dumbasses! Yea the controls look alike but that's all! Games feel really different and you have to do more than just lightly swing the control back and forth like with the wii. Kinect's technology seems cool but it's not just of which is a better show off, it's of which delivers more fun whether it's using no control, motion control, or whatever.

Eyetoy has GESTURE RECOGNITION. that is almost the same as the Kinect has. It scans where your hand is, and by that it know where it is. So when in eyetoy, when you moved your hand, you could punch balls and so on. just like in Kinect.
But just as the Psmove is better in accuracy than the wii, so is the Kinect.

Kinect uses an IR cam to see the player in 3D, PSEye can only see the player in 2D, a big difference.
Full body tracking takes more CPU time and so it has more lag, but when tracking hands only, Kinect's lag is about the same as PSMove;

I know this is about 'MOVE' vs 'KINECT' but I haven't tried the Kinect yet. I have to say that the MOVE is a serious disappointment. I sold my Wii in anticipation of the MOVE being better - it isn't.(imo) . I'm now considering buying another Wii with Motion-plus, but it's the SAME PRICE as a new XBOX with KINECT! Which should I buy? How is it possible to play a FPS without buttons, using the KINECT?? Help please.
@GovernmentGuy - I understand your disappointment, but Move has only just launched, whereas Wii has been out for 4 years, and therefore it will take time for Move to build up an equally impressive library of games (same for Kinect). Kinect on it's own will mostly be suited to casual/party games (Child of Eden is an exception), but FPSs will still be played with a controller, where Kinect can add extra features to the game like head tracking, throwing grenades, voice/gesture commands etc.
@MTMind2 Thanks for taking the time to reply - much appreciated. I spent some more time with the MOVE yesterday and have found that it works MUCH better when the camera (PSeye) is placed ON TOP of the TV, but accuracy between the controller & on-screen movements is not as good as the standard Wii. I tried numerous adjustments to room-lighting, distances, camera-positions & find the Wii was far more pleasurable to use, and worked great from the start. I've heard there's a Wii 2 coming soon (?)
@K3ViiNES Honestly, the tracking sensor for the Kinect is rather terrible... I't doesnt track movement as immediate as the wii and playstation move. The world just isn't ready for this type of equipment....
@streetkingcivic - The millions of Kinects sold so far suggests the world is more than ready :) And the tracking isn't terrible, it's actually very good, yes the the lag is more noticeable than Move and Wii because the casual games are using full body tracking which is more CPU intensive (tracking the hands alone with Kinect has less lag in comparison), but the lag in the Kinect launch games is not enough to spoil gameplay (as I discovered this xmas when playing Kinect games with my nephews).

@BroncosBMF - A lot cheaper for one player with one wand only. But if a game needs two wands, and if you choose to buy the nav controller as well, then it's only slightly cheaper. Now buy another controller (say for two players) and it's now more expensive than Kinect. Hence be honest now, what's your current Move setup. How many wand/nav controllers do you have?
And neither Move nor Kinect sucks, they're both great in different ways.
@smokkapi - Kinect works with the controller, hence hardcore genres use Kinect to ADD extra features, not replace the controller. The next Forza and Gears of War games will use Kinect in this way, and both of those are hardcore, and MS have confirmed there are many such games in development.
As for Move in FPSs, it may be fun at first but I expect most hardcore gamers will return to DS3. More accurate for aiming perhaps (with slight lag), but more clumsy for moving (point off screen to turn).
The functionality of Move gives better aiming in FPS games. I really don't see how Kinect will compare to Move in FPS games, except for a few minor features

Kinect is not something completely new you know, Ps2 had the Ps-eye. It was a hype for a short while, but then a big fiasco. The most hardcore FPS gamers use PC's because they aim with MOTION (Mouse).
Move is motion, And is alot better for aiming than the outdated, slow standard controller.
@smokkapi - EyeToy/PSEye are excellent webcams, that's it, the 'magic' is in the software, hence there's nothing you can do with PSEye that you couldn't do with a good PC webcam. Kinect is a 3D cam, it models the world and people in 3D, that's a BIG difference.

Kinect is a 3D cam, yes. But it has alot slower reaction time than the Playstation cam.

The controller has been a joke to play with FPS since the day FPS came out for consoles. Sony is now finally trying to do something about it. Kinect is a just an improved EyeToy (EyeToy was a big fiasco).

Pro FPS gamers use a mouse, I'm talking about navigating the game world with Move, it's no better than DS3 and imo seems a little worse (still good, but not better), so what you gain with aim you lose in mobility.
Pro gamer sit in their couch and play FPS. They don't jump around in front of the tv and hit red balls on the screen. That's something for kids. Kinects biggest market is kids (all kids play on consoles). That it sells most before christmas doesnt mean it gives you the best functionality, game experience and game diversity.
PS Move has it all.
Try Move with Killzone, Then come back and say that Kinect gives you more for the money.

I would say that aiming is the most important. If you cant aim it doesn't matter how you move, you'll get owned. Camping is a good example for this, you can stay in one place and get many kills if you aim good

When I began online FPS gaming (and mouse and keyboard control) with Quake in 96, you'd 'get owned' if you couldn't move around as well as others, because you were easy pickings for the more experienced players, and that still applies today. Camping may help you get a few cheap kills, but you'll soon be targetted, so only by mastering both can you hope to win. So yes, both movement and aim are equally important when competing online.
Move offers mouse-like control for the areas seen on the screen only, mouse offers this precision for 360 degrees in all directions. Also, the mouse has absolutely no lag at all, whereas Move has a slight lag when pointing (and please don't pretend you haven't noticed). Sure it's only about 1/10th second (as measured by some websites) and so you'll get used to it, but it's still there, and you can see it in numerous videos of Socom4 and KZ3 being played where the Move controller is in view.

@smokkapi - Poor to average FPS players online always think it's just about aiming and shooting. The best players konw the importance of agility, because a) it makes it very difficult for others to target you within a level, making you more difficult to hit, b) it means you're often the first to get to weapons, ammo and power ups, and c) you can quickly adjust your position to give yourself an advantage over your opponents. Hence I guess you were never more just than an average player online ;-D

And yes, I have VERY fond memories of those games too and I agree, it is a shame they don't make a lot of adventure games any more (the Monkey Island series were my favourite). I guess it's out of fashion now for the 'main' gaming machines, but at least that genre hasn't died out completely, with some new games on handhelds today. As for your response regarding never being more than an average player...as the french would say...'Touché mon ami'! Hehe.

Eyetoy has GESTURE RECOGNITION. that is almost the same as the Kinect has. It scans where your hand is, and by that it know where it is. So when in eyetoy, when you moved your hand, you could punch balls and so on. just like in Kinect.
But just as the Psmove is better in accuracy than the wii, so is the Kinect.
So fuck off when you don't know the facts.

The only reason its even slightly popular is because people are stupid enough to think its origional and because xbox came out first (the system) so when people where buying there next gen consoles most had a xbox and never bought a ps3 .. .anyone with half a brain did research first and bought a ps3 .I have both and i have used both kinect and move. @drfirewater - Wii began in 2001 when Gyration designed a motion sensing controller and pitched the idea to Nintendo (who loved it), and together they redesigned it to create the Wii. Google: 'Gyration 2001' and read the first two links.
Kinect uses an IR cam to see the player in 3D, PSEye can only see the player in 2D, a big difference.
Full body tracking takes more CPU time and so it has more lag, but when tracking hands only, Kinect's lag is about the same as PSMove;

I know this is about 'MOVE' vs 'KINECT' but I haven't tried the Kinect yet. I have to say that the MOVE is a serious disappointment. I sold my Wii in anticipation of the MOVE being better - it isn't.(imo) . I'm now considering buying another Wii with Motion-plus, but it's the SAME PRICE as a new XBOX with KINECT! Which should I buy? How is it possible to play a FPS without buttons, using the KINECT?? Help please.

@GovernmentGuy - I understand your disappointment, but Move has only just launched, whereas Wii has been out for 4 years, and therefore it will take time for Move to build up an equally impressive library of games (same for Kinect). Kinect on it's own will mostly be suited to casual/party games (Child of Eden is an exception), but FPSs will still be played with a controller, where Kinect can add extra features to the game like head tracking, throwing grenades, voice/gesture commands etc.

@MTMind2 Thanks for taking the time to reply - much appreciated. I spent some more time with the MOVE yesterday and have found that it works MUCH better when the camera (PSeye) is placed ON TOP of the TV, but accuracy between the controller & on-screen movements is not as good as the standard Wii. I tried numerous adjustments to room-lighting, distances, camera-positions & find the Wii was far more pleasurable to use, and worked great from the start. I've heard there's a Wii 2 coming soon (?)

@streetkingcivic - The millions of Kinects sold so far suggests the world is more than ready :) And the tracking isn't terrible, it's actually very good, yes the the lag is more noticeable than Move and Wii because the casual games are using full body tracking which is more CPU intensive (tracking the hands alone with Kinect has less lag in comparison), but the lag in the Kinect launch games is not enough to spoil gameplay (as I discovered this xmas when playing Kinect games with my nephews).

@BroncosBMF - A lot cheaper for one player with one wand only. But if a game needs two wands, and if you choose to buy the nav controller as well, then it's only slightly cheaper. Now buy another controller (say for two players) and it's now more expensive than Kinect. Hence be honest now, what's your current Move setup. How many wand/nav controllers do you have?
And neither Move nor Kinect sucks, they're both great in different ways.

@smokkapi - Kinect works with the controller, hence hardcore genres use Kinect to ADD extra features, not replace the controller. The next Forza and Gears of War games will use Kinect in this way, and both of those are hardcore, and MS have confirmed there are many such games in development.
As for Move in FPSs, it may be fun at first but I expect most hardcore gamers will return to DS3. More accurate for aiming perhaps (with slight lag), but more clumsy for moving (point off screen to turn).

Kinect is not something completely new you know, Ps2 had the Ps-eye. It was a hype for a short while, but then a big fiasco. The most hardcore FPS gamers use PC's because they aim with MOTION (Mouse).
Move is motion, And is alot better for aiming than the outdated, slow standard controller.

And Move offers faster reaction times for hands ONLY, Kinect offers 3D motion detection for the whole body. Move and Kinect are different, therefore they offer different gaming experiences. Both have their pros and cons, but unfortunately, certain gamers only like to see the pros of their favourite choice and ignore the cons whilst only seeing the cons of the other and ignoring the pros. Kinect is a 3D cam, yes. But it has alot slower reaction time than the Playstation cam.
Movement is awkward in comparison? Movement is what pro FPS gamers use, simply because it's better.
The controller has been a joke to play with FPS since the day FPS came out for consoles. Sony is now finally trying to do something about it. Kinect is a just an improved EyeToy (EyeToy was a big fiasco).

@smokkapi - It doesn't matter what EyeToy was, Kinect is not EyeToy. Kinect is flying off the selves and is currently outselling Move, EyeToy NEVER had that impact. Kinect has slower reaction time for HANDS only, PSMove doesn't model your body in 3D, so again pros and cons for each.
Pro FPS gamers use a mouse, I'm talking about navigating the game world with Move, it's no better than DS3 and imo seems a little worse (still good, but not better), so what you gain with aim you lose in mobility.

Kinects biggest market is kids (all kids play on consoles). That it sells most before christmas doesnt mean it gives you the best functionality, game experience and game diversity.

Yes pro gamers sit on a couch, but they use a standard controller, not wands! From the video I posted, that core gamer has tried Move, has tried the Sharp Shooter, and yet he perfers DS3 for KZ3. Yes he says there's a learning curve for Move, but it remains to be seen if it's better.
Hence the REAL test will be when Move and DS3 users are fighting each online in KZ3.

The Move is an improvement of the old analog. Yes there will be a learning curve for the Move, offcourse!
Everyone prefers what they are used to. But it doesn't mean that it's the best option. When people get used to Move, it will be a must-have i think. Accurate aiming is THE most important thing in FPS.

When I began online FPS gaming (and mouse and keyboard control) with Quake in 96, you'd 'get owned' if you couldn't move around as well as others, because you were easy pickings for the more experienced players, and that still applies today. Camping may help you get a few cheap kills, but you'll soon be targetted, so only by mastering both can you hope to win. So yes, both movement and aim are equally important when competing online.

Move offers mouse-like control for the areas seen on the screen only, mouse offers this precision for 360 degrees in all directions. Also, the mouse has absolutely no lag at all, whereas Move has a slight lag when pointing (and please don't pretend you haven't noticed). Sure it's only about 1/10th second (as measured by some websites) and so you'll get used to it, but it's still there, and you can see it in numerous videos of Socom4 and KZ3 being played where the Move controller is in view.

@smokkapi - Poor to average FPS players online always think it's just about aiming and shooting. The best players konw the importance of agility, because a) it makes it very difficult for others to target you within a level, making you more difficult to hit, b) it means you're often the first to get to weapons, ammo and power ups, and c) you can quickly adjust your position to give yourself an advantage over your opponents. Hence I guess you were never more just than an average player online ;-D

AND the Move camera has ALOT faster reaction time than the Kinect. In the long run people will realize that Move gives a bigger advantage in functionality, gaming experience and diversity in games. Kinect will slowly die out, It's only a hype for now

If you want a ps move controller and a navigation controller its $80. That 1 person. So say you want a few more players adding just two more sets from the beginning bundle (camera,wand,and navigation controller) thats more than the kinect camera! Kinect pwns ps move end of story.
