Brown was not doing a good job. He was totally unqualified for the job he was given. They either had no intelligence of what was going on or they had it and just didn't care enough. There were people of all classes and races who chose to ride that storm out. your comments about foodstamps and welfare are totally unfounded and ignorant. There was a failure at all levels for the aftermath and devastation of Katrina. But the federal government is the federal government for a reason.

@sh8896a What response were they suppose to have? Navy vessels going to pick up everyone? They just weren't prepared for a disaster of such proportions. No one knew it was going to flood a whole state -- but people assumed it could and it was best to leave. There was too much of a mess -- it was overhelming there wasn't enough man power wasn't enough acces to the city. It's only now we understand the capabilities of natural disasters and have made better preparations for them as too relief.

@kjeezy101 Canadian Mountain police were in NOLA on Day 3 and you mean to tell me that the U.S. National Guard, Reserve or any of our forces could not be deployed? The Crescent Connection was never under water. It was a direct line to the convention center & Super Dome where thousands of people waited in sweltering heat for days and hundreds died waiting. Buses could have easily come and rescued people. We were in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami on day 2. I'm sorry but those excuses don't fly.

@MillerIsJesus First, there is a difference between African Americans whose ancestors were slaves here, and the African Americans who willingly came to america. The latter tend to have a better reputation, even though they are more often then not lumped together as Blacks. The school system back in Massawa, Eritrea (east Africa) was actually much more challenging than in most places here in America. Calculus had to be taken and finished by the end of your junior year in high school.
