1985!!!! One of the best summers ever...I was going to Atlantic City with my best friend Madge. I am sure I watched the news everynight before we went on our vacation to see what the weather would be like......to go back to those days with Madge would be a dream come true!!!! Love Ya Madge!!!!

No matter how they did it, the sign jumping at you one frame at a time used to always scare me as a kid. Why did I still watch it? Just for that kick ass theme. Don't ever change it 6ABC.

Except for the Phillies' uniforms -- and even those, you have to look closely to see it's the 1970-91 version -- that opening could have been filmed today, due to the brevity of each clip. My cable outfit in Central Jersey gives me all the NYC stations but only two in Philly: The ABC affiliate with Action News and the PBS with some great Philly-themed programming.

Channel 6 has the coolest TV News Theme Song, that is the timed just right to the video. I hope that they never change it! I've been away from Philly now for over 15 years. I miss you guys!

Arianna - I know that you couldn't know this since you're no longer in Philly, but Gary Papa looks that way because he's battling cancer again. He fought it a few years ago and actually stayed on the air while losing all of his hair. He got better for a long while but it appears that it's back. He's good, and I agree with you that channel 6's graphics were the best.

They STILL are the best. The other thing I hope Action News NEVER does is change the theme song. That would be like cutting their own throat. That has got to be not only the most catchiest themes in Philadelphia but the entire country.

WPVI did a major revamp of "Move Closer To Your World" in 1997, using the London Symphony Orchestra.

Viewers FLIPPED OUT! It took all of 5 days for WPVI to revert to the old theme.

What do MCTYW and the 3-2-1 Contact theme have in common? They both are vintage themes that if you hear it once, it's stuck in your head.

I think he had some throat surgery (not sure whether it was for cancer or not), but I think something may have went wrong; resulting in the harsher sounding voice you'd hear in the later videos.
