@lacis yes however he made most of the great David Bowie records. there is more to him than this video. he may be the most accomplished player in this video (?) Look up the song "Fame" by David Bowie. Same guitar player.
me parece o en la guitarra de carlos alomar tiene la carita de soda stereo? es una parker fly igual a la que tiene gustavo cerati (el fue su productor del disco doble vida)
@KoRnithemaster def... it wasnt bad at all.. he stayed in the pocket, but he didnt even put a little solo in like everyone else did. i would have loved to hear him solo, but he didnt do anything close to it
The guitarist (Alomar) prefers a funkier tone with more high end rather than a beefier tone. It' a very common tone with bands like Tower of Power, EWF, James Brown, and other bands of that styles. It is a speciality tone that not alot of guitarists tap into....
Not saying anything negative about Carlos Alamar's playing but I hate hate HATE the tone of his distortion. I much prefer the warm tones of a ts-808 as opposed to this distortion which basically sounds the same as any guitar player in a highschool metal band i've ever heard.
I remember I was playing with Bakithi Kumalo when I was 17 in a jazz club in NY, and he was the coolest guy ever, so down to earth and very fun to jam with.
The secret to jamming is give and receive space. These are seasoned players and you would expect this at their respective levels. You can learn a lot by playing this and joining in a bit yourself. Timing is essential too.
Is anyone as stunned as I am that this video has been viewed less than 3,000 times, yet some garbage like "shoes", or "leave britany alone" has over 3,000,000? Eye dios mio!
Yeah, I completely understand your point. Pop culture is way off the mark. That's way I'm addicted to youtube...it's the only place i can see real music without having to live in a music city.
Amazing guys

its not a jam. its a series of solos.
drgglitch 1 year ago
@drgglitch - But as long as only one is soloing one at a time, and the rest are playing their roles it's a jam.
bigtexansfan 1 year ago
now that is a jam and a half

@sweetfly66 I know. His drumming is impeccable but all I can think of is getting my mouth around those daddy-mams. Car-Licious.
