What's the game at 5:20? It looks like a very good maked game... And by the way, does he play ALL the game only with OCZ NIA or he used a mouse? I readed somewhere, you must use the mouse, because NIA controls only key like a W,A,S,D, maybe CTRL or SPACE. And at last, sorry for my English :D
@Davis1379 NIA controls everything. You must use the mouse only to rotate the visual because moving the cursor isn't a definite command, but a free movement.
We're getting closer to the Matrix. Except hopefully with no robot rights struggle ending in our enslavement, but robots as the new immediate human equals, as a backup for our own dying. Future looks bright!
Well, by now I have seen many other products like this one, so now it isn't new, I did notice this vid has been up for almost 2 years. If it will take months to get used to, then I guess I could forget about using it for the games I have at the time of purchase. Why is it called "neural" when it's activated by facial muscle movement? Call back when I can type letters with the device, now that is something I haven't seen that would be useful.
The NIA is the most idiotic thing I've seen. So basically you are moving your eyes, eye brows etc instead of pressing buttons on the keyboard, I've used the keyboard for the last 10 years, why would I want to switch to moving my eye brows up and down to move forward and backward instead of pressing W or S.
@DJNightShade1 It's a very science fiction-y and futurology-like idea, the idea of controlling computers with your mind and it be common and well worked. The world has gone through many failed Nintendo Powerglove like systems. So such a move is pretty well on the far edge of the "woah x-files" the mainstream likes to put anything that isn't modern or usual. Pagans and aliens and technology, oh my. Easy there Dib, you're scaring the neighbors! Now, let's go to church and Starbucks.
WTF is up with people reviewing the package the product comes in. 99.9% of the time the box is just thrown away or stuffed in a closet under a bunch of other boxes. Just review the damn product.
I don't get it either. But I have to say that I am pleased with the little handy clothbag my power supply came with. It was a corsair! BUY IT! YOU GET A BAG! OUT OF CLOTH!
@falsehero2001 I appreciate good packaging. It shows the company makes effort to satisfy in any way possible. Corsair has their little touches that i really appreciate. Some companies are just known to do such things.
The frequency of your brain waves change with level of concentration and relaxation so it has nothing to do with what your thinking of but the level. Im sure when when we have mri machines that we can fit on our heads, it will be possible.
Doctors use something like this called bio feedback, i tried it for a little while, it can help you with your concentration if you use it a lot, you can tell how your brain concentrates on things. This is more advanced then what they had like 8 years ago. I want this thing soooooo bad, gotta find one
actualy, i was reading a review earlier about this and aparntly some guy that had like paplysed facial musscels and im asumeing that he was useing a keyboard poped up on the screen and typeing since he was the one that had written it. but then agian it is the internet and some one could have bluffed it but i doubt it
so does this thing actually work on call of duty and crysis n shit? well cod4 dont allow game pads but would it be able to do this ? i'd love this for the shooting games
CoD4 dont allow gamepads, BUT when you use software to MAP KEYS like Xpadder then you dont really have to reply on a game letting you, i use my xbox controller for CSS and CoD all the time thanks to Xpadder....., and yes this does work on CoD4, CSS, and Battlefield, seen it at a lan party i went to over the weekend, now im looking to purchase my own
i use to use xpadder but gave up too much faffin around i forget what i'm doing every 2 mins setting it up lol confusing.. but this nia would be awesome for games , just not so keen on using it for racing i'd be scared then with my brain i'd crash n die haha
ok...this is a little bit pointless really isn't it? more a folly for rich people. really, aren't you just better off getting a propperly calibrated mouse? i can mouve my finger a milimeter a damn site faster than I can clamp my jaw. If they actually responded to just the brainwaves, the impulses "move forward","shoot","crawl" etc then it may be worth it, cos it would be quicker. however im not giving up my mouse and keyboard just yet.
It CAN use brainwaves. It has three types of input: eye and muscle movements AND brain waves. I'm guessing it was not spoken of in this vid cause it takes lots of practice to get that under control.

Well its diffrent...but not really practical for any game...who wants to shoot by blinking or clamping their jaw? On the otherhand, the technology is awesome, picture a military pilot choosing a target by looking at it and blinking(all ready being done).
Can it actually USE the gamma and alpha brainwave inputs after a bit of training, or just the muscle input?
could just be me but the Green 'A' symbol shows that either this is Xbox 360 footage or there is an Xbox 360 controller plugged in, either way, fishy to me
I have this. To tell you all the truth, it doesnt work as it should. I get tons of interference, I went to their site, and they havent had any new driver update, this was in 2008, and they still havent done nothing about it. You need hours and hours of trying out, and at some point you will be pissed of.
Interference is coming from your surrounding electronics. The sensors that are mounted to your forhead are extremely sensitive, they have to be to pick up brain activity of course. This means that if you have any electronical device near you that has an ionisating field (mostly power adapters/feeds) it will interfere with the sensors making your measurements go way off. This can NOT be fixed by any "driver update".
Since these electrical fields probably also make your entire body electrically loaded and put off the sensors you do best always grounding your body by touching the NIA black box. When I buy one I'll try and make a wiring to connect the black box it's surface electrically to my wrist, lessening interference.
Is that a joke, hahaha. I really enjoy the idea, one problem, the headstrap cable is too short. I might have to drill a hole in metal box for it, then I'd have no more problems !
hes not the producer of this controller... hes testing it, so why should he come up whith fake game footage or sth like that... i mean, if its weak, he could show this during these ingame-scenes
This better not be a more fancy and expensive devise than the the one from the early 90's or something for SEAGA, I think..the one where you could steer using your "thoughts", but it was really just you eyebrow movements that did it.
What is this assumption based on? This device detects electrical activity in facial muscles; how is that going to be significantly different to hand/finger reaction times?
Because the muscles in your face are a hell of a lot closer to your brain than your hand/fingers are. For the same reason a lot of pro's use a slow mouse in fps' so that they have to move their arm to aim a little more, thus increasing reaction times a little.
The mouse is simply for aiming all the rest is done with pretty much thought process.. Imagine playing some sort of stealth game.. well your brain is telling you to be carefull and stealthy and accurate. that is incorporated with feelings and nueral impulses your brain gives off.. Sounds confusing but pick one of these up, Have a good amount of patience, and then calibrate and play.. the more you practice just like an instrument the better you are.. This will destroy even Elite players online.
An acronym (pronounced AK-ruh-nihm, from Greek acro- in the sense of extreme or tip and onyma or name) is an abbreviation of several words in such a way that the abbreviation itself forms a pronounceable word. The word may already exist or it can be a new word. Webster's cites SNAFU and radar, two terms of World War Two vintage, as examples of acronyms that were created.
$20 or $30 for packaging? That box probably costs less than $1 to mass produce...

but i don't get it how do you control the guy in the game..with your brain or what)??!! no mouse no keyboard?!!
wollerauman 3 years ago
The mouse is simply for aiming all the rest is done with pretty much thought process.. Imagine playing some sort of stealth game.. well your brain is telling you to be carefull and stealthy and accurate. that is incorporated with feelings and nueral impulses your brain gives off.. Sounds confusing but pick one of these up, Have a good amount of patience, and then calibrate and play.. the more you practice just like an instrument the better you are.. This will destroy even Elite players online.

jesus..NIA..its an acronym...spell it out you dumb ass
hyperpoop5000 3 years ago
An acronym (pronounced AK-ruh-nihm, from Greek acro- in the sense of extreme or tip and onyma or name) is an abbreviation of several words in such a way that the abbreviation itself forms a pronounceable word. The word may already exist or it can be a new word. Webster's cites SNAFU and radar, two terms of World War Two vintage, as examples of acronyms that were created.

Were you using just your mind nothing else?
Would this work with any game?
And how much does it cost?
roccosperanza 3 years ago
It does everything except the aiming when your use your mouse, which should be added in a later model.
and the priciest I've seen it is 125 dollars.
