think that Poland or rather the Polish film industry / institute with financial assistance from the Polish government ought to embark on the production of English-language films or documentaries on the lives of these many Polish heroes from the WWII era. There are people such as Irena Sendler, Witold Pilecki, Maximilian Kolbe and so many others that many don't know about. This effort should be undertaken in the intention of distributing it internationally.
yeah right ... the economy is getting better :) Radzio j have a great temptation of not going back ..ever and j belive the the 1.5 milion factory workers with the masters diploma have the same opinion .. its f... sad , that no one miss us ... wait few more years and Poland will became a COUNTRY FOR A OLD MAN
Let me prove my point. At the end of this interview, the 'journalist' 'quotes' English skin-head-types who hate immigrants (he only says Poles, of course). Now let's be real: This man could NOT CARE LESS, what such Englishmen believe. Normally, he would not be caught dead associating with what he believes these people are: HIS LESSERS! SO, FAILING TO GET SIKORSKI TO BOW TO VOICES WHOSE MAIN GOAL IN LIFE IS TO AVOID PERSONAL DISCOMFORT, HE STOOPS TO QUOTE RABID RADICALS! INTERVIEW HIM!
We all have tremendous responsibilities accompanying our free wills. Just being human, and thus having legitimate self-interests, help one PERHAPS understand cowardice, but does NOT excuse it. Sometimes it is better to have a clear conscience, especially when these are SISTER COUNTRIES! That is the main point of this interview, not whether or not a man believes the parish should have painted the church white, instead of red. I think it is a case of 'kill the messanger to save our conscience
The interviewer's main goal was to get a headline with the sound bite: "Siksorski Does Not Agree With EU!" Why? Because he knows most EU'ers, being human, are self-centered. That is, they do not want to face the consequence of their decision - guilty consciences - for not backing new EU aspirants, Georgia and Ukraine.
Any normal conscience residing in a human being knows these countries, SISTER COUNTRIES, is being menaced by Russia, is having her freedom Seriously threatened! Continued:
it's sad that Polish people must go abroad to earn some "real good" money;/ We aren't lazy nation, we work hard miles from PL apart of family, home etc. We also work hard here in our country, but it will take much time when imparity betwen west and east EU will be clean out.. Don't argue us! My parents didn't want to live in Rusians's Poland. It was another partition of my country. That we work in wester union, usa is our own "Marshall plan" that we have never been given in in past..
I take your point however, from previous interviews that I have watched I can discern no difference in his approach, as a matter fact the previous interviewer, I am not sure what his name was apart from the fact that he was sporting a moustache at the time, was a lot harder and more aggressive.
Why is the interviewer so needlessly pompous? Or, does he actually think he needs to be that pompous or does he really believe that in a rich modern country all interviewer, unlike those in a poor and backward Eastern European country, have the right to go that blunt? Is he examining to what extent Mr Sikorski is patient or submissive?
That is absolutely a pointless excuse. It is the questions that are to be hard, not the way the interviewer throws them to Mr Sikorski. Imagine what if a Polish TV man interviewed David Miliband in the same manner. Oops, Milliband is also a Pole.
As the answer to the very last question of the interview, Mr Sikorski should have asked the millions of British jobless to tell him why they do not work and to go to Poland to work at the short-handed motorway construction sites by telling them and the important-looking interviewer that all British people are entitled to be migrants in Poland.
We can't have enough Poles in London, clever, polite, hardworking and the women look so healthy.
If they weren't here a lot of business' would close.
As for taking more than they give - nonsense. The Scots have caused infinitely more damage. The collapse of RBS and HBOS has cost the English taxpayer billions, closed business' and lost thousands of jobs to the UK economy.
Anyway now from complaining about why there are so many Poles here, cos I understand the rest, they have reasons to be here you got yourself an immigration that will come and go within few years. In the aftermath well all see the gains :)
Thirdly I do not compare India to Poland (anyway fading reminiscence of communist past and India as one of the BRICs will soon make it comparable whichs a great thing for both) I just wanted to point that there are other large groups of immigrants here in UK ,which (as I understand from your WE point) are tormenting Brits.
Wait a minute if you really say 'WE' as British you just being fascist :( You know that the growth in UKs nominal GDB has been accounted mostly to the increase in population? You need immigrants because you live in what Steinbrueck rightly called casino economy. Secondly you cannot account emigration as failure of Sikorski's gov as it came to power only a year ago, which actually has contributed largely to increasing numbers of Poles coming back to the country.
Maroshitake there is 21 million Poles and people of Polish origins living outside Poland. In that terms yes 1 million (4.7%) is a lot or comparing to Indian immigrants 1.6 million it is also a lot. Is it important how many and if its a lot or not? If you say its a lot you think it will justify why you and others look down on us here in UK? Or does it justify why you and Brits can be annoyed with us Cos its just so many of them. Tell me is this what you are after? How open minded, truly
mareknufc I have to agree with you that they were crafted. However why should it be up to Poland to create diplomatic spats with other countries when we clearly know that nobody would back us up. It wasn't long ago when we were seen as the biggest troublemakers of the EU. We are tired of standing up against ignorance of western Europe and the aggresion coming out of Russia when in the end it will be only Poland that will suffer.
what about nigerians, albanians, arabs and the rest-Why this stupid ignorant reporter dont mention them??-Well obviously most of them are not white-thats a problem
Poles have always headed where no one wanted them to go. No other problem is in terms of emmigration. As far as Sikorski is concerned it is true he speaks well English and for this had to be appreciated and praised but try do glimpse the real value of this interview. He was very careful, in my view much too careful and all he said was cliches and opinions that perhaps did not correspondent to truth but were politically correct and it unfortunately sufficed.
marekfunc, he said the truth, what is the point of UE then? we are uniting. when a frienk from UK came over to Poland he said that there is alot of other kind of people that come to UK and they just sit on walefare, Poles mostly come to work.
Some people perhaps are not so eager to "unite". We must not forget that today UE is far cry from what it used to be at the beginning of fifties. Then it was all about economy, free market, flow of people and goods; now there is morbid socialism in UE just as it was in Soviet Union and people are put to jail when they contest the necessity of integration. Politicias are pushing forward Lisbon T. notwithstanding that it was turned down in France,Holland and more recently Ireland. They build empire
Nice to hear from you! So what do you think; is this whole energy thing (oil/gas) going to become more serious and, in time, involve Poland as a US ally against Russia? Personally I think the masks will fall within the next 15 years or so, but untill then everybody (much like Radek here) will play the smiling game. Russia is weakened but growing slowly and I do not think Germany will aid Poland, so the shield is a good idea as Michalkiewicz contends.
I support the shield but only if Russians will not have a permanent mission in Poland and if US contributes to our Army. They give so much money to countries like Turkey and if they don't support us, then we are not important to them as an ally in Europe. It is not us, who would be loosing. Germans always played their game with Russia over our heads. Poland is against Russia, some people even say that we should put up the shield just to piss them off :)
Yeah, we should put up the shield not only to piss off Russia but Germany as well. The more the Americans are involved in Central Europe the worse for the German-Russian power game. And I agree;we should be allowed to strengthen the conventional forces with US cash so that Poland does not become an outpost but an ally-and some offensive capacity would be nice(medium range missiles, bombers and an increase of manpower in the GROM).Poland be able to deter rather than just be a tough nut to crack.

Sikorski jest świetnym dyplomatą. Among other things his perfect English sets an excellent example for Poles learning British English.
