  • Is the fish you called a vermillion a grouper of some form. Other than the color the body looks nearly identical to the gag grouper we catch here on the Florida Gulf Coast.

  • @tdfsu1 Hi tdfsu1. No, the vermillion rock fish that we have here on the pacific coast are not in the grouper family. They are in the Rock Fish family and live from Mexico to Canada in rocky habitat normally around 100ft in depth. I enjoy eating their mild white flaky fillets.

  • How do i get to this place Sir?

  • @Phamkid82

I use the Gerstel Cove (Salt Point) access to launch my yak.

  • Mike, what kind of reel and rod are you using? Do you cast that out there or just drop it in and reel it up? What are the best spots for the lings and vermillion, near the kelp? I need more videos...please keep them coming...I want to learn!

It's a true adventure each time I go out Robert, Each trip offers a surprise, and that's what makes it so much fun and challenging. Ocean fishing (by boat) starts in June , and you are always welcome to join me, if this is something that you would like to try.
