3 people dislikes this song. may be they don't know what is bangla. Thank you for uploading this song. Can you upload Bhupen's song "o amar pryo janagon ami gai tomader gaan ". I will glad to you for ever.
Bhupen Hazarika first wrote this song in Assamese, then it was translated to Bengali and Hindi. The original Assamese version of the song is like this... "Bistirna Paarore Oxongkhyo Jonore Hahakaar Xunio Nihxobde Nirowe Burha Luit Tumi, Burha Luit Bowa Kiyo............ "
@dicvednaj aap log khudh pakistan iran, bahut bahut saal pehle, se kashmir aye hua hoon, aap kasmiri ban gayen....to abhi indian log hum bhi kashmir mein bahut log bhej te hain 20 saal baad indian ho jayega. same principle
WE CALLED 'INSPIRED' IT SHOULD BE SAID COPIED... THERE IS NO CREATIVITY IF SOME COPIES OTHERS TUNES,,, LYRICS CAN BE PUT EASILY TO A TUNE... PAUL ROBSONS OLD MAN RIVER IS THE CREATION ... O GANGA TUMI IS A COPY ,, OF THT.. THIS IS SAME WHT ANU MALIK, PRITAM AND BAPI LAHIRI DOES.
@saintchap First get your sources right...that is a song by someone else in the first place. lets say, someone used the tune of vande mataram to praise their motherland would you hold it against them? also, i was present in the audience when Bhupen Hazarika sang at the Andaman Tourism festival. he started this song with due credit to Paul Robson. he sang it 4 times..and started with the English version. There at that point he had separated himself from Priam and anew Mallik etc.
@prithwin IT WAS NOT A CREATIVE WORK ,, CREATIVITY DOESNT GO WITH PUTTING LYRICS IN OTHERS TUNE ,, THTS WHT I MEAN SAME THING MOST OF THE OTHER MUSICIANS ALSO DO.
I first heard this performed in our college a long time ago by Ruma Ghosh in a much slower Robeson-like tempo. That was a treat. Her voice trembled in certain parts that sent a shiver through you. Does anybody have that version?
it is definitely inspired by " Old man river" , still good work from Mr. Hazarika ... lyric is remarkable , specially " Bekti jodi bekti kendrik, shomoshty jodi bektitto rohi, tobe shithil shomaj k bhango na keno" .... ppl u should appriciate good works
@bhaskarjeetborogohain : get a life. Are you umemployed? Its for punks like you Indians are always divided. By the way b.b is short for bhaskar borogohain, which is also short for "bloody bastard"
FUCK MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i may hurt ur feelings , but it really hurts man when an assamese address him self as bengali. it sucks. Don't we assamese guys have our own culture and strategy. thousands of assamese may respect this guy but let me tell you something" THIS GUY SUCKS" and " ASSAMESE IS ASSAM AND WE BEING ASSAMESE WON'T LET ASSAM TO GO FROM OUR HEARTS. RESPECT THE DIGNITY OF YOUR HOMELAND
@bhaskarjeetborgohain fuck ur family............. this person BHUPEN JI never think bout assami bengali n hindi he is just worship music i know him very well m from maharashtra mr, hajarika got biggest bharat-ratn award why u barking .......... u son of bich just fuck ur sister
@bhaskarjeetborgohain "I am born an assamese and I am an assamese...I am the son of the mighty Brahmaputra" - Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. This is what Bhupen Da said when he was actually asked "What are you?" He is the one who introduced Assam not only to the rest of India but to the whole world....!!! WE LOVE YOU BHUPEN DA....!!!
@rikuborah1 I am nither assamese nor bangali. I have nio words for Bhupen DA. He is my soul . When I came to know that Bhupen Da is no more I sat on earth for some movement. I felt a devine voice .........I have no words sorry...
THE MEANING OF HIS SONGS IS VERSATILE AND ALWAYS TAKES ONE TO A DIFFERENT WORLD. lISTENING HIS ALMOST ALL SONGS SINCE CHILD HOOD, HE HAS BECOME A PART OF MY LIFE. WHENEVER YOU FEEL LONELY OR DEPRESSED JUST TAKE COMPANY OF ONE OF ANY OF HIS SONGS.
Hello all Iam from assam ..I can asure you that all the songs has been writen n composed in assamese first which we have listened from very small, he came outside has a brilliant academic records had a great fan following in Kolkatta thas how he transalated songs into bengali and even came in the national limelight after which his melodious tunes were translated into Hindi.
I am Punjabi, more than 50 years old, listening his songs for the last 40 years.Till today enjoy them same. Thanks to technology we have access to his sangeet khajana.Long Live Bhupen. We are fortunate that his daughter lived with us in Lucknow few years ago.He is Bharat Ratna truly.
i am again confused! i checked wikkipedia, google,So far i know he never married and had no children(i am not sure bcz i could not find about her spouses ie wife children).any body well informed heer about the private life of this great revolutionery(bhupenhazarika)?
i don't his son's name. but his wife's (or ex?) - a remarkably beautiful one - name is Priyambada Hazarika from whom Bhupenda has a son who was in Japan some 27 years ago.
thank yu puajabi vy. I do not know anyone in the world who has protested the grave social injustice through his singing.he is a great thinker and whole south asia should be proud of him
This song is not originally Assamese. It is called Ole Man River from the movie Showboat and sung by famous African American singer Paul Robson. Bhupenda met Robson while doing his Phd in America and picked up this famous song, along with the other famous Black song 'We Are In the Same Boat Brother.'
very true, barpeta. the only difference is that lots of other musicians pick-up music from different parts of the world but never acknowledge it. bhupenda has the honesty to admit it openly. in fact, in his every live performance he mentions about ole man river.
Yes but some one told me that he actually all the songs sang and wrote in asamese(that is very related to bangla) and then all he converted to bangla, hindi and so. he is ever and enourmous popular
what yu mean? yu mean that he song first in hindi? i don know but but seems to me logical as some one said to me (he is an asamese i guess) that he first sang in asamese
this song is damn gud!! it touches my heart!!! y do all of us fite??? we shud be united!! one world together widout war is even a better place to live!!!

@bhaskarjeetborgohain
My Friend,
You are absolutely wrong on this. This man never addressed himself as a Bengali and never changed his name or identity.
This is "NOT" about race, language, religion, politics, pride, status, wealth etc.
This is about "HUMANITY", a vision that highlights equality and justice for all and thus thrives to overcome all barriers and prejudices.
This is also about music that touches ones soul.
