Incorrect. Ron Paul supports a vast overhaul of the federal government, which would result in less of a tax burden for everyone, due to the decreased spending and taxes. It is simply absurd to say that eliminating most federal taxes would somehow make states pay that money.

Heads up. the current president has not raised taxes and at the same time has maintained federal expectations and added a few more for the states to comply with. This is a new tactic of the republicans. Unless Ron Paul is able to cut federal spending as well as raise the amount of money going to states or drop services the states provide. State and town taxes will rise.

I guess I did not say this clearly. These are federaly mandated services. That means the states have to provide and meet these mandates. So the answer to your question is The federal government says so.

Ron Paul or for that fact no one running for office has made any comment on the drastic increase of financial demands being placed on the states and towns. Where are the plans to help out the states that have been forced to raise more income due to the dramatic decrease of federal aid? Why should the federal government be sending money to states? If states have financial demands, it's up to THEM to pay them, not the federal government. Read the constitution. That isn't how our government works.

Ah yes, ever so true. However if the federal government demands that for example the schools need to meet certain markers, which do cost money to meet, the states have to meet these federal demands upon them in order to be certified, yet the federal government has not paid a penny to the states to help them meet these demands. The federal government has ways around the constitution.

Also, One tactic is to cut budgets for a state with things like highways expenses, which by the way a state has to keep federal highways up to a certain standard. The federal government over the past few years has dropped the amount of money they have been paying to states.

However, I will agree with you that the federal government should not make demands on the states such as with the schools--the constitution makes no provision for federal control over education or schooling of any kind.

I believe that the Army of Northern Virginia's battle flag for infantry was 51 inches square. However, most infantry battle flags that are made today are 48 inches square; it is probably cheaper and wastes less material in those dimensions.

Those would be the national flags, such as the Stars and Bars, the Stainless Banner, or the Third National Flag. The flag they're wearing is a reproduction of the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.
