I just say this movie for the first time yesterday. When I saw it a while back on previews I thought it was boring and stupid....but this is one "BAS ASS" movie! It was pretty good! Just sad how us humans treat one another because of race, religion, etc...and for that, one innocent boy who say life differently had to die.. We really have a long way to go people!

Finished reading the book last night, it was heartbreaking at the end, now I understand why everyone finds the film so upsetting! Really want to see the film now, only hope that it's as good at the book! ..sometimes the films based on books aren't always as good.

Unfortunately this type of falsification does nothing for history.

@alanheath Couldn't agree more. This film was perhaps intended as a way of showing the evils of racism but is also a trivialisation of that dark period of history. It is perhaps also true that there is still no way of representing the sheer crushing horror of the camps without a degree of trivialisation. A rather silly film, though well intentioned.

I have this entire film so touching... I cryed at the end when the boy of the Nazi General of the Auschwitz camp that is considered to be the symbol of wholesale slaughter made by the Nazis. The boy of 11yo of the general of camp become friend with a Jewish boy across the enclosure and talk with him and bring sandwich to him and try to help him and his family to escape. The end is also terrific of the story of the Auschwitz camp beleive me :(((((

This movie makes me think of the sickening things that Hitler did to these poor people in the name of...............God?! How could he initiate this plan that he twisted Germany into believing was the "Final Solution". But also it reminds us of the strength of the human heart, and how two people from COMPLETELY different worlds can come together in the face of a horror that has happened, and I hope will never happen again.
