Love ur video! Btw, what is the name of ur glue? I was trying so long to buy this type of glue!!! Thx a lot! And also one stupid question. Is this foil special for nails or just colourful foil in general? Thx thx thx!! Xxx
@coolkoolaids1 it is faster to do the whole nail, but I find that if I try to do the entire nail, I get lots of crinkles and missed spots. If it works well for you, by all means, do the entire nail art once. :)
Could you use false lash glue to apply foils? I know this may sound like a dumb question but I ordered the foils for my Christmas party and didn't order the glue...
@TheEolization They don't last very long at all. personally I've found them to last 2-3 days maximum. they wear much better if you put a couple layers of top coat on them, but even then they have pretty bad tip wear. I like to reserve them for when there's a special night out.
I like how you talk about the things that can go wrong and how to fix those problems, most tutorials don't talk about "oh yeah and if this happens you do this.."
@Miss80Million How much was shipping to canada ? i was looking to buy some too, but i don't really want to pay more for the shipping than the product itself ;P
@sillyville3000 i don't recall. it should say on their website i think. but if memory serves me, i want to say it was $10. but don't forget that on their website they have a minimum credit card order of $25.
@LoLo10872 well since they shipped to me and I live in canada, the answer is yes. you can also always check their website for shipping info re: time and cost. :)
@RoRoAndLauz the first method is easier because it has fewer steps but it's more likely to crinkle due to the curve of your nail. so it's all about personal judgement. :D thanks for your comment!
@Avoidingnemo11 hi. sorry. didn't see your comment til now. I would absolutely NOT use Seche vite with foils. The fast dry top coats increase the amount that the foil crinkles.
I don't know if anyone has said this before but if you don't want to spend $25 they have an order form that you can print out and mail to them. It says so here on their FAQ under the question 'Why is there a $25.00 minimum electronic order?'
@fleurinscotland it's best to use top coats that are Not quick drying. I think they will all crinkle the foils at least a bit, but the fast dry ones will even more. Maybe try just using a clear polish instead?
Hi! Great tutorial! Have you ever tried a UV-sealer instead of a topcoat? U know, a one that has to dry under a UV lamp? I was wondering if maybe that is a solution to prevent the crincles?
@KimsKie79 No, i never have. I don't use anything like that on my nails. It could possibly be a solution to prevent the crinkling. If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out !
@kkacuniq20 I'm not sure what other brands do. I haven't tried that many with foils yet. Also, if you want to avoid the crinkling, you could probably also just use a clear polish before you apply your top coat :)
ahh i love it! I wish i could buy it, but can't find it on the ebay .. is there any way you could use other foils like the ones for wrapping gifts?? maybe i could try that out ...
@buttah7 regular foil or foil for gift wrapping definitely will not work. though I suppose you could simply glue it on to your nail like a sticker. But nail foils are a really thin layer of foil that's got that clear backing to it. So when the foil adheres to the glue, the clear backing separates from it.
@buttah7 You can try things like gold or silver leaf that you can get from a craft store. It doesn't come with the backing but adheres in the same manner. --but it's probably more expensive. and I'd definitely check the ingredients in the glue that's used with that to make sure it's safe to be in contact with your skin before applying it to your nail. :) (I've never tried it so i have no idea how it'll work. definitely do some safety/ingredients research before trying it)
@LipRouge I definitely wouldn't apply the glue over the foil. I don't think that would make them last longer at all. The crinkling is caused by the chemical reaction between the top coat and the glue (if i'm not mistaken) but as the top coat dries it should mostly uncrinkle.
you can buy top coats that are specifically for foils but I didn't feel like it'd be worth it for me. (not sure where, but i've heard of them. maybe try transdesign or ebay)
I know that fast drying topcoats are not good for the foils and I tried using the OPI top coat and it took about the shine and started to crinkle a bit and stayed :(
@iiamjessie I actually used a base coat for this video. But maybe try using just a clear polish instead of a top coat. I find that that usually works alright.

@sarahrasah I don't remember exactly, but it did take a while. If they had a FAQ section or shipping timing section it still got delivered within the time frame i think... maybe it took 2-3 weeks?? If it's been over 3 weeks i'd definitely contact them. --chances are though, that it's just caught up in customs.. hope you get it soon! :)
