I think you're confused or I'm misunderstanding. Mandela absolutely did use terror to accomplish his goals. Martin Luther King on the other hand accomplished the same thing in the USA without violence. Mandela is a great hero to South Africa and the world, so his forgiveness and grace is focused not the terror, but it's not a secret either. The first thing he said when he was released from Robin Island was that they have no choice but the take up arms again... a few yrs later apartheid ended.
