Lee Bollinger made us look like crap in front of Ahmadinejad. Bollinger is not a scholar, he is a damn flower child on a BAD acid trip. Ahmadinejad, while I still think he's one shady bastard, actually made sense! Bollinger has a God-complex and thinks he is the lone bastion of Western Civilization. Who told Genius here that he could speak on my behalf? He's not my freaking lawyer you know!

i'm not a big fan of the Iranian President,because i didn't know about the man.Thanks to Lee Bollinger,who bypass, the political view by the US politician not to invite him. After watching the clips, all i can think is the president of Iran is not just a president but also a scholar, all his points are logical and i think the President of a country should be knowledgeable just like him. ROTC wasn't allowed on campus because of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, a policy that would prevent openly gay members of the Columbia community from participating in the military. It is Columbia policy not to allow any organization on campus that would prohibit membership based on sex, race, sexual orientation, etc. Since the repeal of DADT, ROTC has actually been reinstated. You should do some research before you call an entire university population hypocrites.

@TheBoonPlatoon Liberals are known for their hatred of the military. That's the real reason Columbia banned the ROTC. It all goes back to Vietnam. You liberals ARE hypocrites. You claim to be champions of gay rights and use that excuse not to allow the military on campuses, yet you have no problem inviting Muslims who advocate the murder of gays.

Bollinger is provoking not a 'robust' discussion but hostility from any reasonable man. That is not the only way, as he claims to do things particularly if it is going to be an intellectual debate on very serious matters. I regret that he thinks confrontation is the best way to deal with important matters. He is obviously self-important, and this is the worst example I have ever seen in a well reputed academic world.

Bollinger did overstep the mark for an introduction. He could have asked his questions and made statements just as effectively further into the address in a more moderate tone. I think he was in some form of face saving mode given the excessive emotion generated by psy-ops in the media.

Bollinger got emotional - you could hear the quiver in his voice - not just because of his feelings about the abuses in Iran but because he felt compelled to go beyond a more respectful academic tone.

Mr Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran, has invited Mr Bollinger, staff and students of Columbia Uni an open door invitation to go to Universities of Iran and speak on the issues there.

Will Mr Bollinger and Columbus Uni take up the hospitality and generous offer?

Would the US Government intervene and would excuses be made to prevent a delegation from Columbia from taking up the offer to go to Iranian Universities?
