  • @hempsi135 LOL!

  • kick-ass music!

  • Nice fake Sapphire.

That's an interesting idea to consider. However, I'm not sure I'd be willing to do that to my SCD unit. You definitely have a good reason to do it, though. The LT SuperCD adaptor is pretty rare.

  • You're certainly braver than myself attempting these mods. But yeah!.. think once you've smoothed out the edges/marks etc, the jobs a good'un imo! The LT looks really sweet hooked up as well, especially with improved output. At least you've achieved the main objective on this mod mate and thats the main thing isn't it for yourself. Interesting stuff, THANKS! :)

  • Neat - well done.

You gotta smooth out that edge and it'll be 100%

Question though - why not use a dremel?

  • @c0ldb33r It was a gonzo mod! Don't have a dremel, and anyway those shiney plastic inside edges scratch real easy, I used a simply knife to get a sharp edge.

  • nicely done matt... is that a real copy of spirrigan or a bootleg. they make the bootlegs so real its real hard to tell... if its the real copy my god man... god bless your soul... haha

  • @dankss LOL!!! No they're backups my friend, I almost picked up the official bootleg of Sapphire but when the price went over £100....I was out. Yeah I got the original Spriggan but I think you meant Sapphire.

So....are you tempted by this setup or is it a freak of nature>>?!

  • @futurematt5

lol yea thats what i meant.... i got that bootleg you speak of for 20.00 from a close friend...... he ended up getting the real version and didnt need it anymore so he gave it to me for a steal. i dont have the arcade card yet so its useless at the moment.

  • @dankss dude check out the pcenginefx turbografx forum, it's got a great thread going which covers every conceivable piece of PCE hardware, the dude has even made up some bizarre hardware combos....spitting viper....gangsta's briefcase...LMAO.!!! Thread is called pce back catalogue I think..

  • Well done, you have done a great job, I would love to have this set up @ work :).

  • @oldskoolrc cheers man, and thanks for all the dope comments from you on the back catalogue!! I tell you, the LT is well worth the investment, just playing it, the screen really is clear although not as high contrast the telly obviously, but the proportions suit the native resolution and most games look dead nice on it.

  • Try heating the blade.

  • Dude that is sweet, you could well be the only person in the world to have an LT and super cd-rom2 combo like that. Its even colour matched!! The quality of those PCE hand-held's screen still continues to impress, even by today's standards. No wonder they were so expensive. You have Sylphia!?! Is there no end to the rarity of your collection!?! Yeah, now I'm REALLY jealous!

  • @alexgameroom bootlegs my friend. Sorry, backups. No game is worth £250.....until I''m at my wits end and money is burning a bright hole in my pocket!

  • Gd job Matt. It sits in neatly as if it's built for it! The color scheme even matches! It's a sad thing that my SuperCDROM2 doesn't fully function now =( I tried to attach the two together, but there's the bracket in the connecter that always gets in the way. Cutting it out would be the only solution =)

  • @PhatPhunk I'm right in saying that your SCDR2 has no video and audio, but I expect the CD spins up and powers OK>? In that case the ext bus is probably 100% and using the gonzo mod here, you could get it to hook straight up to the LT and have yourself a bloody nice set up with your LT!! Happy to assist in any way, should you decide to go down that path.

  • You are a very brave man! I home-modded an old Megadrive I've had in the cupboard and despite it being a simple job, I still made a bit of pig's ear. It works, but doesn't look too pretty.

Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire! Very nice indeed.

  • @stormyinthenorth I went through a stage of 'modding' console stuff, this largely involved painting and replacing bits of plastic like a f*g idiot and the results were always awful. I have a PC Engine pad which bears the marks of my attempts and it's not pretty!!

  • perhaps there would have been a way to fix the adaptor but that mod does make it all look nice and it all matches as if it was inteded to be like this, its how it should have been made in the first place thats for sure, nice job.

  • @RallyDon82 thanks mate, I think they look like they were made at around the same time, same colour scheme pretty much, so yeah, it looks tight! Thanks for the comment.

  • It's a shame they didn't just bring out an extension port for it.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope Well they certainly should have made the flippin SCDR2 a little better...it's a beast really, nothing like as nice as the briefcase unit. That's why I didn't mind hacking mine to bits. Sort of.

  • *cries* Can't you see it's in pain!?

  • @wip3outguy7 Think of it as a cosmetic procedure. Now its smile is wider and its teeth are, er, shiney and black..!
