The shots of the crew and driver readying for the drive is intercut with actual track and car footage. Once we see the car in action why do we care about the crew again? They lose effectiveness. The opportunity to create tension (crew prep) and a release (car footage) is wasted. 2 of the wide shots on the track are entirely too wide to see much and lose meaning since we have already seen the car close up. They should have been used as a bridge btwn the preparation and the drive.
Do you have nothing positive to say at all? This is a great video. Those wide shots are all about the sound of the car, the expanse of track is simply a visual reference to the sound of the engine.
@GTRalliart Yes, the shots themselves were great. They just could have been put together better. I couldn't include this comment because of the character limit. I know what the wide shots are for, but there is nothing that brings your eye to the small car in the corner of the screen. Something from the previous shot that keeps the eye in that corner would help... or more time to find the car. More time means a slowing down of the momentum, which is why it's a good bridge.
@GTRalliart the way the shots are arranged right now those wide shots bring the momentum down in the wrong way. I don't expect you to know this, it's all subconscious and you would only know that this video isn't edited well unless you saw a well edited version of it.
you think you know about film...well you obviously know shit about cars, the video was perfect from the point of view of a gear head, its visually stunning and the music is great, so get your no car loving faget troll ass out of here
Good friend of mine owns a 996 Carrera, drove it once, never plan on driving a Porsche again unless its AWD, or the engine is in the middle, or the front... I've been in a drift spec s13 with 400HP, and that going sideways wasn't as scary the Porsche... The s13 going sideways felt safer than the Porsche going in a strait line. Q___Q
The snap oversteer in rear engine Porsches was sorted out in the early 1970s. I go to track on regular basis with the Porsche club and we drive on the limit constantly and no one seemed to have any handling issues.
It handles fine, issue is it just doesn't feel right, idk how to explain it... Idk and I know its not just me, but it makes me scared to drive one/driven in one, on a track that would be fine, I love being scared on the track, but when your on angeles crest, not so much... I <3 the 997 911 Turbo though. ;)
For road cars, rich people would buy them, and rich people aren't necessarily good drivers who can handle 600+bhp in a rear engined rwd sports car so Porsche detunes the car because they don't want to see their cars destroyed everywhere especially with a model that's not quite as exclusive as the Carrera GT, but a tuner company like Gemballa or Ruf might play with it and unleash its potential.
Not really. Dr. Porsche said back in the day, "It does not matter where the engine is as long as it is light." As the engines got bigger they just had to live with the problem of legacy. Notice the Boxter, Cayman, and Carrera GT all have their engines in the middle.
But evidently they have addressed the problem quite well for the time being.
It's in den "wrong place" to get lots of traction at the corner exit and awesome brake performance. You ever watched a 911 at the brakes mate? But you hit on problems, if the engine becomes bigger and heavier.
I love all of your videos and can't wait for my updates to come in and tell me you have more videos uploaded. Keep them coming and you have a great eye and incredible videography skills. Thanks for creating another great one!
I sought an answer too. Race needs screaming lower torqued lunacy, crowd pleaser. the gt2 is indeed the bigger, faster, and anything "RS" seems to go to racing anyway...I guess they keep organized like this.
yes, i do know that the GT3 is more track oriented, but why can't there be a position in racing for the GT2, i know the car is more speed, but if Porsche(or some tuning or racing company)tuned it for racing, it may be successful
because it would probably end up in GT1 and thats kind of a dying class. GT2 cars like the RSR are fairly 'turn key' whereas GT1 cars tend to take a ton of research and development (i.e. $), its the middle ground between production and prototype racing.
great vid...awesome sound recording

I said German's complicate things for the sake of complication, and Porsche is an amazing example of that...

Porsche could have easily crank up the HP in their GT3 to 660bhp, without any real internal messings! WHY HAVEN't THEY!?!?!?

@Jamzkangster My guesses:
For race cars, it's probably just regulations.
