LOL! Flash Gordon was the first Mac Daddy Of Them All!!!! Check out his wardrobe!!! Pimpin! BTW...Without him, who knows what science fiction would have become. Plus, so much of what we have today, cell phones, radar, space travel, robotics, computers, etc, began with kids watching these matinee movies and saying to themselves, "Hmmmmm..why not?" I hope there's a writer visionary in today's generation who will create an inspiration like Flash. Peace.

George Lucas grew up watching serials like this. He heavily borrowed from Flash Gordon. Dramatic orchestral music, titles in perspective, shooting electricity, robots, and this particular episode is the snow level, which influenced...Hoth.

Greatest use of Public Domain music ever! Les Preludes! And where else can you find Retarding Rockets? Ming finally drops the gown with lightning bolt act, and looks his best in the Sherwood Forest meets Sgt. Pepper outfit. Zarkoff actually Does stuff in this serial; and Prince Baran, who looked like a pro Wrestler in the first two, turned into Errol Flynn! Ming's daughter's makeover defies description - from Mata Hari to Donna Reed.

Has George Lucas seen this? Talk about ripping off George's original ideas, 40 years before he thought of them as well.

In all fairness, Lucas is open about his love for this classic television series and for being the main inspiration for SW. Also, note that episodes 1-4, which were directed by Lucas, share the same style of performance of its cast.
