Bob was indeed an incredibly beautiful man and had an absolutely perfect physicque. However, Bob had some things going on in his head and made some incredibly poor decisons career wise. He could have gone much further in bodybuilding and even acting and entertainment too, but his personal issues and bad decisions effectively killed his career. Even his homosexuality could have been used to his advantage but it alienated and distanced many instead.
I competed in a show in 1988 called the Diamond Cup in NYC where I placed 2nd as a heavyweight, and had the privilege of meeting Bob Paris who was the guest poser. He ate some of my chocolate as we got ready back stage. Overall it was a great experience as he was one of my idols next to Arnold and Ive had the privilege of meeting both.
This guy still sends shivers up my spine when i see this performance, and i remember it in '88. It will always be one of the best routines ever performed in bb history, well done Bob.

Don't worry, STEALTH872003, the current state of affairs (the 3rd trimester bloated gut look you alluded to) DESERVES no respect, and you were right on the number. The visual impact, the aesthetics in motion, simply the total presentation Mr. Paris brought to the stage hasn't been remotely approached since. In my opinion he's only been equalled among Mr. Olympia competitors by Frank Zane and Chris Dickerson, and surpassed in posing ability by Ed Corney.
Unfortunately when I've commented on the other videos for guys like Vic martinez and Dexter Jackson amongst others who have that bloated look, I get lots of thumbs down lol. It's like people like the preggo belly look or something. Mind you I never disrespect their accomplishments...I just am not a fan of guys who look like they're getting towards the end of pregnancy.

@STEALTH872003 Paris didn't win Mr.O because of Lee Haney, although at least one of his titles should have gone to Lee Labrada. Because even during most of the 1980s, freaky size won over symmetry and aesthetics. The ARnold classic winners during that era were pretty tough to beat too.

@brodiemarshallpinder Frank McGrath????? Take steroids year round and eat to much protein. That's whats wrong with bodybuilding today. A bunch of GH gutted freaks ballooning up to 300 plus. But rather than credit Paris, Ray, Wheeler, Levrone, Taylor, who take care of their bodies they'd rather award Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman as they pound down triple cheeseburgers and fries as they bulk up to over 300

I think this is the point where bodybuilders should go further... Cuz today they look like huge meatballs... This guy, Arnold Schwarzenegger and other athletes of that time had much better looking and much more symmetrical physiques

the worst of it too is that many of the guys who claim to be tight waisted is that when they turn to the side and let their stomachs relax, how far their stomachs stick out past their chest...Dexter Jackson is a perfect example of that. Guys like Vic Martinez and Kai Green are 2 of the more down to earth guys going, they've got some of the worst preggo belly going. Maybe they should have a seperate contest for whose got the most potruding stomach lol?

Bueno, yo tuve la ocasión de verlo en directo en la copa de España Profesional, en los 90 y Paris era bastante más grande de lo que muchos pensaban, lo cierto es que era muy muy grande, 110-105-100 tampoco es importante solo es un dato, ero tenindo en cuenta que media 1.83 podía pesarlos perfectamente.

How this guy didn't win a Mr.O or an Arnold Classic title is beyond me. What he does off stage has absolutely nothing to with he brings on stage. Unfortunately bodybuilding went from this to the beginning of 3rd trimester look most guys have today. JMHO, no disrespect

Don't worry, STEALTH872003, the current state of affairs (the 3rd trimester bloated gut look you alluded to) DESERVES no respect, and you were right on the number. The visual impact, the aesthetics in motion, simply the total presentation Mr. Paris brought to the stage hasn't been remotely approached since. In my opinion he's only been equalled among Mr. Olympia competitors by Frank Zane and Chris Dickerson, and surpassed in posing ability by Ed Corney.

Unfortunately when I've commented on the other videos for guys like Vic martinez and Dexter Jackson amongst others who have that bloated look, I get lots of thumbs down lol. It's like people like the preggo belly look or something. Mind you I never disrespect their accomplishments...I just am not a fan of guys who look like they're getting towards the end of pregnancy.

@Martinl792002 While I DO agree that Shawn Ray, Lee Labrada and especially Vince Taylor are heads & shoulders better than any of the current crop of competitors, which was my main point, I still maintain that Bob Paris was at least as good a poser as anyone (other than Ed Corney) EVER was, and arguably the best aesthetic physique ever. Just an opinion.

@lajeepguy Bob is the guy who I model my training after, I've got a very similar look to him as my training partners would say lol. We've elected Presidents who are total man whores, glorifed certain athletes and stars who are wife beaters and a bunch of other things. Don't hate me when I say I'm not on the pro gay side of things but sexuality aside, Bob would've been a great Mr.O

@STEALTH872003 Paris didn't win Mr.O because of Lee Haney, although at least one of his titles should have gone to Lee Labrada. Because even during most of the 1980s, freaky size won over symmetry and aesthetics. The ARnold classic winners during that era were pretty tough to beat too.
