  • How I wish, I could have had the chance to meet this man...We miss you Brad...Rest in Peace

  • Miss u

  • met brad and the guys in winnipeg.couldn't find nicer people.invited us to see them for brunch the next day.wonderful guy.truly sad

  • if you have never dealt with severe depression, you dont know what its like, this man probably dealt with this condition and struggled with it for years, you cant always see on the outside whats going on inside,he probably fought off comitting suicide many times before, their is no magical pill that just turns these feelings off,you people with your unforgiving comments, i hope you never have to deal with this condition.

  • what a strange suicide..?????

  • Such a shame! One of rock's all time greatest voices. Saw Boston live in 1987 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey-awesome show. Such great talents have been lost of late-Ronnie James Dio and John Entwistle, too. And here we are, still stuck with Lady Gag-Gag, Bieber, and all the rap/hip-hop a**holes...

  • He was the nicest guy in rock and roll.

  • RIP BRAD!!!

    ROCK ON.................

  • WHY DIDN'T THEY MENTION CHARCOAL SMOKE???? Thanks CoolerKing37.

  • @MusicbyBenjamin They didn't want to say that probably out of respect.

  • why brad

  • I'm still ticked that Brad is gone. I know first hand that xanax and other such narcotics can cause psychotropic episodes in people. The day the music died.

  • Instead of charcoal, he should've used clean burning propane. Taste the meat, not the heat.

  • @CoolerKing37 you dont die from propane smoke only if you drink it! you can die from charcole smoke cause it has carbon monoxide

  • @Vidiosmokes Propane still creates the exact same carbon monoxide as charcoal, genius....

  • Knock 'em dead in heaven, Brad!

  • I am SO grateful to have seen them way back in 1976...My god what an AWESOME comcert that was...I was only 18

  • The power of drugs, alcohol, crime, greed, evil, money, lust, etc. etc. pale in comparison to the power of......depression. Trust me on this. Brad was a lonely and sad man inside his heart, which is true tragedy. His death had nothing to do with any of those other things mentioned. Only he could attest to what he was feeling.

  • @tamerswan Yes, I have been a Christian since I was a boy. I recently (March 24, 2011) lost my precious cat. She died in my arms at 9:28pm that night right after we got home. She lost 6 pounds and the vet didn't seemed concerned. He was leaving for vacation for 2 weeks. My cat had an appointment March 25 and she died 11 hours before her vet appointment. He thought she needed her teeth cleaned because she was not eating. She starved to death. I cry everyday hoping I will see her in Heaven.

  • Best singer of all time, RIP We all love u man

  • Thanks for this the pisspoor news in Texas barely carried a byline for this legendary voice. He was something special.

  • True Polar. Clinical depression consists of the DSV-IV Criteria for Psychological Disorders. It's a shame he gave so much but couldn't get any help. Many would have given their own lives to help this good man. RIP Brad

  • I think it’s nice and all that you are paying tribute to Brad for all his musical accolades and everything. But the bottom line is; he was the father of two children who most certainly did not care that their father was a has been rock-star. His selfishness for days gone by far outweighed the needs of his children; and that is truly the tragic aspect of this story.

  • Greatest voice in rock n' roll was lost that day. He is gone, but never forgotten.

  • its been 4 years i think and i still cant believe hes dead

  • @345aerosmith Same here man, even my father can't believe it... I still feel moved about what happened when ever we play Boston over the speakers...

  • @txjignpig no one knows why he really did it

  • this was a pre-mediated suicide, that was thoroughly planned out. it's a shame. suicide is the worst scurge on mankind

  • @txjignpig bullshit. i've been on xanax for 10 years. it doesn't cause people to kill themselves. it actually mellows you out

  • @txjignpig thats bullshit. xanax is not the reason.

  • amazing voice

  • shame on you brad for leaving and hurting everyone that loved you. i can't believe you were such a coward.

  • so fucking sad. damn thats bullshit. his music brings such posative feelings its verry ironic.

  • I started listening to "Boston" in about '88 when I was 10. It didn't take me long to become a fan, and I remain a fan today! I wish he were still alive.

  • Very sad... He was a great talent, and seems like a very nice guy. I wonder if he was another victim of the so-called "anti-depressants." People fail to realize this is a multi-Billion dollar hoax, perpetrated on the public. Why is it you always hear about mass-killings when someone is "off their medication?" You don't hear so much about this side of it.

  • smooth voice,, him an freddy mercury were the Two with the tones,,,,,, Brad was awsome,,, gotta love boston

  • These people dont know that it was Carbon Monoxide poisoning that caused his death. He even posted a note on his door saying there was going to be carbon monoxide present the day he died

  • BILLY MAYS HERE

  • Im sorry to hear about this, I only learned this today. I just made a slide show set to Amanda

  • will always love there songs true rockers of the 70ds rip brad

  • So sad, I bought my first guitar after hear the Boston album. His voice was the cornerstone of the band. RIP, Brad.

  • Brad was the voice of my youth

  • It is a real shame that Brad committed suicide he had a bright future but was depressed. He inhaled toxic fumes, that is how he died incase you were wondering. He was an AMAZING singer and I love all of Boston's songs especially don't look back that is my favorite song and u should listen to it. R.I.P Brad Delp you are and will be missed.

  • i hate it when someone spews their so called credentials to dispute what im saying. i know what im talking about. i survived depression and for some so called 'professional' to tell me im wrong just PISSES ME OFF. i took control of my thoughts and i conquered depression. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. this brad delp person needed richard carlson

  • I want to say first that Boston is my all-time favorite rock band. This a tragic story - very sad. Brad's death shows me that rock & roll stardom leaves your soul empty in the end. He may have had personal circumstances that nobody else knew of like serious health problems. But regardless, from my eye he had so much to live for. Only God knows for sure. Farewell Brad.

  • weak person. the people who have real problems are the ones NOT living in the most affluent society in the world. some people are REALLY SUFFERING. they are not bored, frustrated , well to do millionaires who need a swift kick in the ass. the people who should kill themselves are literally starving to death . i have no sympathy for this guy

  • @OralAgreement69 you no neither the man nor anything about the topic. I knew him, plus, I'm a 22-year professional in the mental health field.

  • @66Polarbear sorry to burst your bubble with logic, but i dont care if you are a professional in the field. i know what im talking about , when someone is depressed it is a reaction to thoughts they are having, NOTHING MORE. this bullshit about chemical imbalance is a way for drug companies to make money. once you take control of your thoughts you will be depression free, but you will not be taught that in whatever school you attend because it is not LUCRATIVE .

  • @OralAgreement69 you haven't a clue what you're talking about, i agree with polarbear and medications can be a godsend for some of us.

  • Comment removed

  • I still miss Boston to this day. The greatest band ever! RIP Brad!

  • 66Polarbear is totally right. CD doesnt't care about where you are in life. It hits like a baseball bat to your head. I know.

  • the one .........ciao brad

  • It's hard to understand serious depression, and it's often outwardly happy, confident and successful people who suffer with it. Particularly bi-polar disorder, where extreme highs are balanced with extreme lows, as a friend who suffers told me: "your whole life can fall into a thousand pieces and you try and piece it together like a giant jigsaw puzzle". I had another close friend who took his own life, it's a hard thing to accept.

  • R.I.P. Brad

  • he was on Xanax- poison

  • He already said why. He was a lonely soul. He had some sort of serious depression. Its too bad he wasn't helped. We all lost this great soul. He will be there in heaven singing for us all.

  • I agree with mrjcoolness. Something just doesn't seem right here. He had no reason to end his life like he did. I didn't know him personally but what I do know doesn't fit. Who ends there life with so much promise and plans on the horizon?

  • the reason i don't like an of this is because he was such a great man.. someone i would love to be.. and i just wish/want there to be something fishy about this.. his ex seems so weird so should i just believe that this great man gae himself away?

  • One of the first voices that made love the Rock N' Roll... I love Boston, they are part of my life...

    From Colombia...

    ¡¡Brad Delp.. rest in peace.!!

  • Delp was amazing, you can tell he truly loved what he did. When I hear Boston songs, or others sung by Brad, I get a great feeling, almost like Goosebumps. His music really touches me, and it saddens me that I could never meet the guy that had the greatest impact on my life.

If I could only say one word to him, it would be "Thanks".

  • Amen to that, man. I still get goosebumps from hearing him sing, I wish I could meet him and tell him "Thanks" also.

  • I could not agree with you more. The group Boston will live in me till the day I die. Never was I able to attend a concert given by them. At 47 years of age I wish I could have seen them play live at least once! This is what real music "was" and will always be. My memories of this era I could write a book about! This is an era gone by sadly to say. Am I allowed to dream for something better than we listening now ??? Please don`t shoot the piano player!

  • VERY SAD DAY IT WAS!

  • he was a great singer and boston was a grea t band! what a drag! its hard to explain to people what is going on inside your head when you feel this way. depression is a crippling illness both mentally and physically.

  • @canchasay eh whatever, he's gone now, all there is to it, and we all miss him =/

  • @canchasay nope, he put on a good show for everyone, his fiancee had no idea

  • His suicide note read: "I am a lonely soul." It still makes no sense.

  • I was born and raised in NH. What a great loss.

  • Brad. <\3

  • i cried when i found out. boston is my favorite band. i will miss u brad.

  • SO GLAD I saw the Nashville show in 2004. Must have been some deep-seated

clinical depression he had, or something similar to that. To not want to live...

  • he's now rocking in heaven

  • R.I.P Brad.

  • This guy was my friend's uncle.

  • ... And I never even got to see them in concert! [Bangs head on desk.]

  • Oh Man, me 2!

  • he is still the best though

  • new singer is very good

  • BOSTON IS DEAD - RIP

  • Its really sad, he was a great singer

  • I have been in the same position as Brad Delp (Minus the major stardom). It's tough being the mediator in a band that has so much infighting. As you get older things that were once easier to handle become insurmountable. Then what happens is, you take it out on loved ones and friends, which ultimately ends in some kind of loss. You think that it is all too hard and then...you seek peace. The world should be more aware of depression and help fight that instead of each other.

  • i drank my first beer in the back seat of a camaro.....1979....rip....listening to the boston 8 track......song i remember....moe than a feeling.....song i was getting a hummer to.....smokin......

  • Clinical depression doesn't deal with "reasons"...Please, folks, stop speculating on "why?" Much info here is not accurate. His finances and his relationships were just fine.

Depression is the inability to get out of a cold, deep, dark slump, no matter HOW good everything around you is going. It's torture.

It's a chore just to get thru the day and put on a happy face. In the end, it's just too exhausting.

  • very true, depression is a sickness not an emotion

  • @66Polarbear he really needed to read Richard Carlson's book You can feel good again. most depression is NOT clinical, it is a product of our THOUGHTS. i doubt brad was clinically depressed. if he were, he would have killed himself much much sooner.

  • I know what you mean. I have Clinical depression & I am 1 year younger than Brad would be. I was born in 1952. I see a psychatrist. Since she doesn't have depression, she will never REALLY know how I feel. I feel like killing myself often, I have no purpose in life. I played in rock bands but never achieved fame & success like Brad did. My physical situation is better than a lot of people's. A friend keeps telling me, "Smile." I have nothing to smile about. I take meds. They are only a bandaid.

  • @66Polarbear You nailed it. I witnessed my ex go through several episodes, and there's no logic you can relate to it. It's simply screwed up chemical imbalances in a person's body. "Telling" a person to get happy when they're depressed is like telling a 5'-10 person to be 6'-5; it just doesn't happen.

  • it doesn't make sense, maybe it was murder,it's possible.........the only other thing would have been a major fight with his fiancee that set off the suicide,(that must be it). i'm surprised he lived in regular house like the rest of us with all the millions he had...then again,,maybe he wasn't that rich,,Tom wrote the songs, that's where the money is.

  • He was pure Vegetarian and follower of Hindu fate and had that feeling of White man burden if u know what i mean. But truly lovely man they said and lonely soul as he pinned in his shirt.

  • Saw them back in 95/96 with Fran Cosmo and Brad hit the stage and the crowd went wild!! Such a loss, like so many before him. But as Brad would want it it's "Don't Look Back!" Angelic voice....

  • i remember watching this...i was shocked

  • I thought Brad killed himself...

    Was that someone else?

  • Yes, sadly suicide. From what I know, one of the best guys you could ever want to meet. Freaking sad. Amazing voice. This makes me very sad.

  • What I don't understand was they claimed to not know the cause.

Did he not die from suffocating on grill smoke?

I would think it would be obvious the cause, if the room is smokey or for that matter there is a grill in it.

    Yes, Delp was amazing.

    RIP delp

  • They claimed not to know because the story had just broken and the police wanted to get their ducks in a row before they release any statements. But yes, it was charcoal grills. He was even so kind as to post warning notes on the doors so paramedics/fire department wouldn't be hurt. Such a good guy.

  • A friend from YT and Live Video told me about it and I was also in shock, a long time fan who saw them live twice. I heard he took his own life, found in the bathroom? Car running exhaust that killed him. He didn't inform anyone, but people think he was deeply emotionally effected by conflict within the band, which Sholtz objects to of course. A real shame. No one here has announced his passing in the media and that too is tragic!

  • This still disturbs me. I have been a Boston fan since '76. Saw them once with Brad.

I keep wondering what his fiance has to say about this. Surely she if anybody would have had some insight into Brad's mental state.

  • Ya, thats a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Wonder if maybe the engagement was falling through or something. It disturbs me too. Everything I ever heard about Brad was positive.

  • God, i cant believe its over a year since the nicest guy in rock n roll passed, he will be missed forever. R.I.P.(Rock in Peace) Brad.

  • you gave me the greatest summer of my life! for that i am forever greatful, you touched more people than you will ever know!

  • Thank you for everything you did Brad. May you rest in peace and keep rockin' forever!!

  • well, we know now that brad commited suicide. he had a bright future, and yet he still commited suicide, saying in the note that he was a lonely soul. rip brad delp

  • This video marks the second saddest day of my life.

I cried many a tear for you, Brad.

The world will never be the same.

  • man i jus wished i would have seen a concert of boston with delp i cant believe it

hes gone no one is ever gonna replace him

there could only be one Brad Delp R.I.P.

  • he said regular joe because nobody thought of him of justa rock star. people thought of him as a friend and neighbour

  • Just a regular joe?!? wtf is that damn cop talking about a regular joe?!?! this man is one of the best singers in rock history. period. RIP BRAD.

  • I would imagine he was saying he was a regular Joe that didn't let success get to his head. Brad was a pretty down to earth peron...very caring. It's a shame what happened.

  • At least this news station gave Brad a report a of that length. Many times they just mention someone and maybe talk a little about the person and then move on. It really shows how much people cared and still do care about him. If I lived there and new him that well I would be completely devastated.

R.I.P. We will all miss you!

  • Nothing mentioned in Minnesota that I saw or heard. NOTHING! That is disgraceful

  • hey jimmywacked, u r a douche!!! brad killed himself retard. it wastnt tom

  • Unfourtunatly I never became a real big boston fan until after Brad died. I did see the band with a new vocalist last week and yes they still rock! Just not with as much heart.

  • yeah, i didnt get into them either till after brad died. to be honest, i didnt even know they existed till after brad died

  • That is just as shocking to hear as his attempt to kill himself with no good reason. ROCK with Boston, even in the game GTA (SanAn)

  • Fran Cosmo sang on the Walk On album, and I still like that, and the last live show they did at our State Fair (in MN), Fran's voice is not far removed from Brad's

  • You know, maybe he had tried getting help and it just added to his pain . . . There's no way to know what makes someone make this choice, but it is selfish and hurts so many left behind wondering what they could have done to make it better for him.

  • He had the world in his hands, yet; his hands were too small to hold as much of the world as he wanted to.

  • I am so so so so so so sad!!!!!!! I only found out just recently. I was seeing if they were touring. I am 32 and Boston was the only thing that my stepfather and I could agree on and was glue of our relationship. What a tragic loss! There is absolutely NOTHING that could replace some one like Brad Delp. He is a legend. R.I.P.

    Brian Hand

    You will be missed.......

  • The world got a little darker when he passed. I dont believe he comited suicide. How can someone with all those things to look foward too (marrige, reunion tour) kill himself?

not only that, but I am 100% convinced that Bostons music is Natures AntiDepressant, its gotten me thru so much, no1 who can belt that out could possibly b depressed. (Vampire hunters walk around with a boombox playing pieces of More Than a Feeling, whoever hears it and doesnt smile is staked on sight, it works flawlessly)

  • What a tragedy.

He was a very nice person, I can tell by his career and charisma even if I didn't know him personally and I know other people share the same feeling, simply, heh, more than a feeling.

R.I.P. Mr. Delp. Thanks for lending your legendary voice to our hearts.

  • he commited suicide

  • I live in Nashua and my whole family still miss Brad

  • Terrible Terrible Terrible.

    RIP.

  • I still cry every time I watch this report.

    Very, very sad.

  • I saw his last show in Keene, NH. I cried when I heard the news. I still can't believe he's gone. What a TERRIBLE loss.

  • 1jaar geleden is Bred van ons heengegaan, we missen je Bred. rest in pease

  • I was watching this the night it came out, I was just flipping through the stations andsaw this I was like WTF! I almost cried, not even joking, Brad Delp was the best, and will always be the best. R.I.P. Brad!

  • i literally cried when i heard he died

  • I know how you feel. It is like "this can't be". I remember, I was watching CNN and I heard the music come across. I literally come to a stop everytime I hear his voice, especially on the Panasonic Toughbook Commercials. I was thinking, man, a tour announcement...then I saw the words "Boston rocker found dead"..I just fell apart..so sad and empty..

  • R.I.P. Brad.

  • In a business w/many talented singers, Brad's voice was singular, and brand-marked the era of my teenage years. Who of my generation will not be ever haunted by the line "I see my Marianne walkin' away"? It lingers in the memory. My own faint hope would be that in his last moment he reached out to Jesus.

  • For all we know, he is spreading the word of Jesus' love with his magnificent voice. The beauty of someone such as Brad Delp is that they will continue to inspire generations of fans to come. Most of his fans are certain that Brad has now reached his ultimate charity.

  • I heard shortly after hearing the news of his death by suicide that part of it was owed to Tom Scholz firing Brad's friend and bandmate Fran Cosmos for copyright infringement. Scholz banned Cosmos and his son Anthony from Boston indefinitely. I'm sure that Scholz must be kicking himself now for it. Future touring for Boston is by now out of the question.

  • what exactly did Fran do or was accused of?

Did he record something that sounded too close to a Boston tune?

  • Apparently Fran and his son were sued for using the Boston name to promote their own scheduled dates. Of course, I found out that this was also not the case for Brad's suicide. Whatever the reason, I do believe that Tom Scholz has suffered from enouch public accusations regarding the death of his best friend and former bandmate. Rock on, Brad!!! You shall live on in the hearts of your fans!!!

  • yes, you're right about Tom..enough already, there are a few posters here on the tube that constantly bash Tom .its gotten to be too much. the guy is Boston & Brad is / was his right hand man & "the voice " .

  • I also cannot shake the sadness felt by his death.

Although, I do understand depression first hand.

I have felt the effects and know depression can

drive a person to do many things. I also know that

it is possible to be depressed for no reason.

Not to say he didn't have one but it sure seemed

from everything I've read he had an amazing life.

Only he knows why he did what he did. And maybe

even he did not know. His voice will live on.

  • At first I was in shock and so sad. Then when I found out it was suicide it made it even worse. From this broadcast it's obvious that he was truly a kind, humble guy.

What a brilliant, stellar voice he had. He had the best of both worlds: beauty and power; the combination made him the best of all rock singers. Teach the angels a thing or two about singing, Brad. Goodbye.

  • He'll be great missed

  • MSN headline news stated "Boston singer died" Not Boston lead singer died! How pathetic!

  • Haunting; no foul play. As it turned out, Brad's pressures were turned on himself. I feel so bad about this. His neighbors thought the world of him. What must they be thinking today? Brad wouldn't hurt a fly but I suppose he carried a world of pain he couldn't reasonable address.

  • It was confirmed by his family yesterday that it was a suicide. It hurts me that he felt there was no way around his problems other than that. It really hurts me.

  • It's a shame when the world loses another talented and truly kind, wonderful human being. Brad delp is an excellent example of how to be humble, gracious and be true to your roots, not matter what your status in society may be. What a class act, unbelievable vocalist and kind human being. RIP!

  • :(

    :(

  • You're sooo lucky.. so many of his fans have been waiting to see him live, perhaps even meet him. Now they will never get that chance, myself included. Delp was the greatest contribution to any band and is the inspiration to many new singers, again, I am but one of these millions of people. I love you, Brad!!!! R.I.P. my friend..

  • so sad...

  • Sad.
