watching this video and reminding myself of Game 6 of the World Series last year...I wish the Rangers had Darvish at the time. Oh well at least they have him now. GO RANGERS!
@mnomoto1989 cant believe what you hear on the internet or tv until you see the guy put on the uniform an im sure ranger fans will be satisfied with im
@mnomoto1989 Ya know, you think you're quiet erudite and educated by making a cynical yet uneducated remark to someone who was a degree because i smoked pot in college and didnt drink n piss away my education like my TOOL College buddies who were portrayed to think BEER is the absolute because (in lamest terms) Uncle Daddy Sam said weed is bad..Let me know if you get my Analogy, smart one eh?
@ismokeot420420 I, too, have a college degree, idiot. I never said smoking pot had any bearing on one's academic endeavors. Rather, I'm saying it's affecting your rational thinking and emotions. Hence, the way you act like a bitch, even when my response to you was merely retaliation. You started calling me names FIRST. Then, you get all offended when I simply dish it back. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.
This definitely brings back fond memories but you can't fully understand how good Darvish is from this clip. He was great in 2009 as a 23 yr old but now he's entering into his prime at 25 and he has the stuff to be a front end starter on any staff. This guy paints corners at 95, has a ridiculous slider (as you can see in the video), and he has an incredible forkball as well. If he comes over, might as well engrave his name on the rookie of the year trophy
He certainly has the potential to be an ace quality pitcher, but no one in their right mind should call him "the best pitcher in the world". Especially when he's spent his entire career pitching to anemic Japanese lineups.
@dmachovi that 'one slider' has been pwning almost every batter in japan for a few years..i know japanese batters arent as good as american batters but its till pretty impressive
@KoreanBoy9713 Seeing that you're Korean, I really appreciate you complimenting Darvish. I've met many Koreans who've, for reasons that aren't clear to me, slandered and condemned Darvish, refusing to admit that he has skills.
@mnomoto1989 i dont like it when people use race as an excuse to slander other people. i hve a strong dislike towards the japanese government (and japanese netizens who slander koreans for no reason) but i hve nothing against people like darvish. from what i saw, he is extremely hard working, skilled, and has a lot of potential. theres no reason to slander people like him, and those who do are either just jealous or completely stupid
I think a lot of their success has to do with the fact that we don't know much about their stuff,If he comes to MLB it's a matter of timing,He'll get lit up,by the way Jeter looked like a fucking little leager in the 06 classic.
best pitcher in the world? who has he faced? he is no where near roy halladay cc sabathia tim lincecum or felix hernandez. until he proves he can do it against major league teams for a full season i will prefer to have a staff made up of vance worley jeremy hellickson ra dickey randy wolf and tim wakefield over a rotation of 5 darvishs.
@ryanD206 i aint saying he is as good as your 1st pitching squad darish is way better than wolf and wakefield i personally think he is a much better pitcher than those guys i bet if he comes to mlb he will have winning record and mid 3 era and good strikeouts.
@Pandabearmadness there are people on here tauting him as the best in the world which is an absurd statemant. What your saying is extremly different and mid 3 good strikeouts and winning record is certainly possible after 3 years (one year is to small a sample to judge a player usually)
Daisuke was way overhyped. Darvish has some filthy stuff and seems to be the real deal. if he gets worked with in the US by his pitching coaches theres no way with his potential and talent he will end up like Matsuzaka.
if he keeps working hard, he'll be one the best pitchers...the thing about pitchers like halladay is that theyre gifted and extremely competitive
the bs about bidding ridiculous amounts of money just to talk to foreing players (like daisuke) ruins their psyche imo...they are given superstar status without proving anything...
Darvish is a good pitcher. Surely,Halladay,Lee,Lincecum are nice pitcher. But He didn't show capability at WBC.He threw onlly fastball and slider at this time. Probably you may not judge it from this movie.
Darvish is definitely a good pitcher...but he has only faced Japanese competition...that is why the MLB is still the true test of pitching prowess...because it combines the best players from North America, South America, and hopefully more players from Asia in the future.
@deadhardy "has only faced Japanese competition" LOL. Apparently you didn't watch WBC '09 where he faced Cuba and USA. Please do research before you make ignorant comments.
you are an idiot. small sample size isnt indicative of anything....even casual baseball fans know that the first few matchups between a pitcher and hitter give advantage to the hitter. If Darvish played full seasons in the MLB he would probably fare pretty well at first. But, history has shown that most Japanese players do not enjoy the same success in the MLB that they did in the Japanese league. There are exceptions to the rule of course...
not true...i love how japanese baseball stresses fundamentals and how japanese players conduct themselves. I'm just stating truth...that the Japanese league is like AAAA in comparison to MLB. Only the best Japan has to offer has even a chance to survive the major leagues (you can name the number of successful Japanese MLB players on 2 hands). It's only natural because the US is a much larger country with a bigger talent pool which consists of home grown and latin players.
@iBlue69 he's not planning to come to the american league, he's way more popular in japan and usually minority players in US don't get much attention.
@iBlue69 best pitcher in the world is stretching it, man. He doesn't have to face the cream of the world every start (pujols, hanley ramirez, ryan zimmerman, a-rod etc. etc.
@iBlue69 This is so stupid. Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Felix Hernandez, Tim Lincecum, Roy Oswalt...there are SO many more better pitchers.

@iBlue69 looks like you might get your wish in 2012. i live in the tri state area so i would like to see him pitch for the yankees so i could watch a lot of his games.
He is still young. There's no reason for him not to dominate in the Japanese league for 4 or 5 more years and then go to MLB to test himself. By that time, there will be a new wave of young Japanese pitchers to take his place anyway.
Ichiro played a good 8 seasons in Japan before going to America so he did his part for Japanese baseball.
