Yeah my Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage build is a bad ass.. Level 14 and I have 75 resist all, 100 mental and physical resistance, like 60+ dmg, and 56 armor or so. I still have another 11 levels to go.. lol Oh and like 96 defense.
I dont think your MANA regen is 11, I think its more than that because FADE SHROUD gives you a bonus to mana regen in combat, and also the SPIRIT HEALER specs gives you a bonus to mana regen as well
Did you get the fade wall drop without toolset? If so then I commend you. Haven't reached the unbound quest yet since I'm trying to complete all the other quests before heading to orzammar, but thats a really nice AM build. Just a question, wouldn't it be better to supplement AM build with a blood mage specialization?

dude i tried soloing flemeth on casual with almost the exact same build (wade dragon bone set instead of scale and fade wall instead of howes shield) my stats were about the same. but even on casual the dragons grab destroyed me. how do you stop it? i used the same basic buffs (shimmer shield, combat magic, spell shield, arcane shield, tele weps, and rock armor)

You shouldn't compare it with WoW, simply because they are completely different games. One is a single-player game and the other a mmorpg. @Rosvosektori Most players would go for Fire or Frost. Fire does more direct damage; Ice does less, but slows/paralyses foes at the same time. Electricity is somewhere in between, but harder to estimate its effect so it isn't as popular. And no, I didn't use Haste.

My problem with this however is that it ruins the point of the game. The way I see it Arcane warrior are meant to be Offensive units, not defensive. I try to play the characters as I imagine them to be!!! I am sure that the makers of he game did not intend for such char to be possible (Same with my version of Arcane warrior)
While I like the idea that the Arcane Mage gives, I've always pictured mages as the person who sits in the back, casting spells and ripping shit up. For that reason, I don't think I'll ever be able to play a Arcane Mage and be satisfied. :\

I saw the shimmering shield collapsing a couple of times there. Cailan's armor set is better for greater resistance and best health regeneration. It's almost pointless to heal then.

during the quest with the elves you'll come across a ruins/lair. I can't give specific directions as I suck at that but keep an eye out for a gem or vial (like the ones for the revenant fights), follow the dialogue options to unlock the spec.
Alternatively you can hop onto Awakening and buy the spec manual if you can from that DLC ^_^
Any idea if +stamina regeneration increases mana regeneration in the 360 version? I thought they remained separate modifiers meant for different character classes since some items say stamina and some say mana.
yea I'm just gonna say in Awakening it's really unfair against the darkspawn with three Arcane Warriors/Battlemages/Spirit Healers; never went for Blood Mage found it useless to have cause I sacrifice my own blood or one of my party members to power my spells or replenish mana? Don't think so

ok, i seriously need to see how you got started with this line up, cause it seems like in advancing the stats you need in the end, you'd sacrifice power in the early game, which is a huge no-no on nightmare difficulty. How'd you level up your character?
@TheForgottenEagle What do you mean by "how did I level up?" Level up. Can add attribute points and pick spells. That's it. Admittedly I didn't add pick any spells after 1st level until, well, my Archmage spells video, but it was still a Nightmare-level playthrough, and I didn't need to use anything other than my starting spells anyway - as my other vids showed.
Everybody sees gear differently! But I believe it's important to make your character look more kick ass (to be blunt your arcane warrior doesn't look like much of a beast! I don't care how well you fight --) and effective ! I have a current arcane arcane warrior. I've dived into the nature of this beast I will release the ultimate arcane warrior on YouTube!!!
Oddly enough, fans of Baldurs Gate II will notice Bioware's subtle homage to that game. Like the name of this enemy, Gaxkang? There's a demi lich in Baldurs Gate II who can be found in a little building like this called Kangaxx. Or Edwina, who tends bar in the Gnawed Noble, is a direct reference to Edwin the mage who (in BG2) was turned into a woman by Elminster. There are also pantaloons that Dog can find, referencing the pantaloons enigma.
@TheDragonCastDown Also one of the loading screen advice things says 'When all else fails, go for the eyes', which is referencing Minsc's famous battle cry. Also, the name of the guy who made this video, Carsomyr80, is a reference to Baldur's Gate 2. The Carsomyr, also known as the Holy Avenger, is the Two Handed Sword +5 which you find on the dead body of Firkraag the Red Dragon if you choose to kill him, and can only be wielded by a Paladin. My guy kicked ass with that sword
If you have Golem's of Amgarrak, you can swap the Spellward with the High Regard of House Dace so you can use the Wicked Oath ring slot for the Key to the City.
I have no idea which one's better. Spell resistance would take a dive, but if Spell Shield is being used, I don't see it that as too big of an issue. You CAN get yourself back up to 99% if you use two rune slots on Grandmaster Dweomer Runes on Duncan's Sword.
you should really get the cailans arm set, gives 5.75 stamina regen using both the sword and the shield + decent damage
also blood magic is better not only because you get to do an awesome aoe, but because you can use your own HP instead of mana. being a blood mage is riskier, but if you`ve got the skills its a better build all around.
can someone tell me what is best for warrior to have 1 weapon and a shield, a 2 handed weapon or duel weapons (2 weapons at once) i need some good advice on how to make a great warrior that has quick attack speed but also deals high damage thanks
@thegodwars73 well a simple version of the warrrior options are
Sword and sheild :Great defense less than average damage
2 hander : Great heavy damage but quite slow
Dual wielder: good attack and it is quite fast but i woul reccomend being rouge for it
I would reccomend that if you want to build a 2 hander for high damage and maby if you have a mage in your party get them to cast haste to speed it up. i think it can be found in the mage creation tree

Has the game been patched to nerf this class since the video was posted? I am noticing that I can't seem to keep the shimmering shield up perpetually like he does in the video.
Isn't it better to use Cailan's Arms? When in set they give +6.5 stamina regeneration. And with Improved Combat trainig, Fade Shroud and Wade's set wit Evon you get +10 mana regeneration. And Howe's Shield drains you from 10 mana.
@Cheebajunkie Remember that this is an arcane warrior.c Which means that he/she that is playing would have to balance attributes, so that he/she can benefit from both attacks and spells. He/she wouldn't have as much str,agil etc as a pure warrior

Are these videos from PC or console version? I am asking beacause PC version has different (lower) stamina regen bonuses than console versions, so there are fewer options (only one or two, as far as I know) for AW that can best Shimmering shield mana drain.

I have to disagree with you about AW/SH being more versatile than AW/BM. At lower levels, you can't control the enemy. At higher levels, SH spells are made totally irrelevant by higher hitpoint totals and the completely over the top and insanely overpowered battlemage specialization.
As a solo character, the SH might be better, I don't know. But I can guarantee you that the BM will be faster since he'll be able to spam offensive spells and he'll have blood wound.
ive noticed you used evon's great mail armor. Isnt Wade's Superior Heavy plate chest armor better because of the 50% fire resistance,+25 stamina, and the 2% stamina combat regeneration?
@Brighamama I mean if you combine that with the warden commander boots and all the equipment you have. The mana pool is extremely large. I mean the buffs barely take up any mana.

I noticed you paired Duncan's Sword With Fade Wall, I wonder if you could also consider Cailan's Arms combo (Maric Blade + Cailan's Shield). Maric's Blade has 1.5 mana regen, but when combined with the Cailan's Shield, there is an additional +5 mana regen...
@rondivu Absolutely right!...but I had no space left to mention that combination in the text of this video, so I mentioned it in the next one...or Part 3. I forgot whether I stated it in Part 2 or 3.
If you dont mind me asking. In the starting levels what did you put your points into. I tried picking up most of the sustainables and went heavy magic to grab the dragon armor as soon as possible. But in nightmare I was struggling just to get through the tower of ishal portion of the game. Thanks in advance and thats an awesome character. Think Ill make an elf one..I never noticed the racial bonuses.
@spartanfan6 ? Duncans shield? Duncan had a shield? Maybe u were thinking of Cailan's Shield. Or Eamon's perhaps? I personally use Eamon's Shield. Its not the best, but it gives u +25 stamina, and its a good substitute till u get the Fade Wall or Howe's Shield.
@Jericho921 yes, duncan has a sheild. you have to get the warden's papers from the chest right before you meet riordan. then mention the papers while talking to him. after the alienage quest, talk to him about the secret vault he mentioned. then go to the warehouse next to wonders of thedas, and behind the bookcase, loot everything and one object is a gift for allistair. give it to him, go through cut scene, and he will be equipped with duncan's shield
@Jericho921 no, duncan had a shield. its in the warehouse in denerims market district after you talk to riordan about the old warden stache. if you go in there there is all kinds of stuff but there is a gift for allistair called duncans shield and after you give it to him it becomes a usable shield, much like asala for sten or the dalish boots for zevran
arcane warriors are way to op in this game... i managed to solo every major boss in nightmare difficulty so far except the archdemon, the only bad thing is that it takes a long time
@AntichristKJ Juggernaut is mainly for resistances. So it's only useful if you can't maintain Shimmering Shield. Otherwise you're better off with other Massive armor. IMO armor that gives mana regen is probably the most useful for Arcane Warrior.
@AntichristKJ Yea. Juggernaut and Cailan's armor are the top armors for arcane warriors. But if you don't have Ostagar then just go with Juggernaut. Or, like Carsomyr said, just get an armor with mana regen.

I'm not sure if any stat accounts for crit dmg but that don't matter right now
I presumed seeing as I plan to be AW, would a build of Magic/Dex be good?
Constitution wouldn't matter as dex also accounts for evasion/def w,e right?
The only downfall is a lack of WPower for spells but I'd be a melee based char anyway (AW)

Also, the name of the guy who made this video, Carsomyr80, is a reference to Baldur's Gate 2. The Carsomyr, also known as the Holy Avenger, is the Two Handed Sword +5 which you find on the dead body of Firkraag the Red Dragon if you choose to kill him, and can only be wielded by a Paladin. My guy kicked ass with that sword

If you have Golem's of Amgarrak, you can swap the Spellward with the High Regard of House Dace so you can use the Wicked Oath ring slot for the Key to the City.
I have no idea which one's better. Spell resistance would take a dive, but if Spell Shield is being used, I don't see it that as too big of an issue. You CAN get yourself back up to 99% if you use two rune slots on Grandmaster Dweomer Runes on Duncan's Sword.

you should really get the cailans arm set, gives 5.75 stamina regen using both the sword and the shield + decent damage
also blood magic is better not only because you get to do an awesome aoe, but because you can use your own HP instead of mana. being a blood mage is riskier, but if you`ve got the skills its a better build all around.

@thegodwars73 well a simple version of the warrrior options are
Sword and sheild :Great defense less than average damage
2 hander : Great heavy damage but quite slow
Dual wielder: good attack and it is quite fast but i woul reccomend being rouge for it
I would reccomend that if you want to build a 2 hander for high damage and maby if you have a mage in your party get them to cast haste to speed it up. i think it can be found in the mage creation tree

Very nicely done and explained, correct grammar&stuff. This proves my point - many RPG players are intelligent/mature people.
I play a mage in every game, for years. Finished DA:O twice and Awakening three times, all on Nightmare. Wanted to make one of the mages Arcane Warrior, but never had the balls... it's so deep in my blood that I have to stay far away from the battle casting stuff, or get killed.
Maybe in Dragon Age II...

Isn't it better to use Cailan's Arms? When in set they give +6.5 stamina regeneration. And with Improved Combat trainig, Fade Shroud and Wade's set wit Evon you get +10 mana regeneration. And Howe's Shield drains you from 10 mana.

@Cheebajunkie Remember that this is an arcane warrior.c Which means that he/she that is playing would have to balance attributes, so that he/she can benefit from both attacks and spells. He/she wouldn't have as much str,agil etc as a pure warrior

Are these videos from PC or console version? I am asking beacause PC version has different (lower) stamina regen bonuses than console versions, so there are fewer options (only one or two, as far as I know) for AW that can best Shimmering shield mana drain.

@Brighamama Resistance to his Spirit Blasts. 75% resist = I take only 1/4 damage (8 points instead of 33) and he only heals 1/4 as fast.

I have to disagree with you about AW/SH being more versatile than AW/BM. At lower levels, you can't control the enemy. At higher levels, SH spells are made totally irrelevant by higher hitpoint totals and the completely over the top and insanely overpowered battlemage specialization.
As a solo character, the SH might be better, I don't know. But I can guarantee you that the BM will be faster since he'll be able to spam offensive spells and he'll have blood wound.

ive noticed you used evon's great mail armor. Isnt Wade's Superior Heavy plate chest armor better because of the 50% fire resistance,+25 stamina, and the 2% stamina combat regeneration?

Great build I love it. I am wondering though. How did you get 60 points in magic and 35 in willpower, and 25 in dexterity, because I reached level 21 with out spending any points and I can only seem to get magic to 60 and willpower to 35 but not dexterity 25.

I noticed you paired Duncan's Sword With Fade Wall, I wonder if you could also consider Cailan's Arms combo (Maric Blade + Cailan's Shield). Maric's Blade has 1.5 mana regen, but when combined with the Cailan's Shield, there is an additional +5 mana regen...

If you dont mind me asking. In the starting levels what did you put your points into. I tried picking up most of the sustainables and went heavy magic to grab the dragon armor as soon as possible. But in nightmare I was struggling just to get through the tower of ishal portion of the game. Thanks in advance and thats an awesome character. Think Ill make an elf one..I never noticed the racial bonuses.

@spartanfan6 ? Duncans shield? Duncan had a shield? Maybe u were thinking of Cailan's Shield. Or Eamon's perhaps? I personally use Eamon's Shield. Its not the best, but it gives u +25 stamina, and its a good substitute till u get the Fade Wall or Howe's Shield.

@Jericho921 yes, duncan has a sheild. you have to get the warden's papers from the chest right before you meet riordan. then mention the papers while talking to him. after the alienage quest, talk to him about the secret vault he mentioned. then go to the warehouse next to wonders of thedas, and behind the bookcase, loot everything and one object is a gift for allistair. give it to him, go through cut scene, and he will be equipped with duncan's shield

@Jericho921 no, duncan had a shield. its in the warehouse in denerims market district after you talk to riordan about the old warden stache. if you go in there there is all kinds of stuff but there is a gift for allistair called duncans shield and after you give it to him it becomes a usable shield, much like asala for sten or the dalish boots for zevran

@AntichristKJ Juggernaut is mainly for resistances. So it's only useful if you can't maintain Shimmering Shield. Otherwise you're better off with other Massive armor. IMO armor that gives mana regen is probably the most useful for Arcane Warrior.

@AntichristKJ Yea. Juggernaut and Cailan's armor are the top armors for arcane warriors. But if you don't have Ostagar then just go with Juggernaut. Or, like Carsomyr said, just get an armor with mana regen.
