dob, its that eric is doing that for the fans as well, i went to a songwriters showcase 2 months ago with.... josh turner, bucky covington, kelly pickler, and joe nichols. and joe just sat there, and bucky was enjoying the show from the other artists, and joe stood out bigtime. looked as if he was forced to be there. he sang well, but had no interaction with the other singers. BY THE WAY, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ERIC IN CONCERT, U MUST.... WAY DIFF. THAN THIS WHERE HE HAS TO BE SEATED.

Sorry, I like Eric Church. He's a Carolina boy and I am too -- but he didn't even know how to play the most legendary song in country music (He Stopped Loving Her Today). That tells me a lot about how serious he is about continuing the tradition. He's a country rocker....just like everybody else.

I still think Jamey's writing is on a much deeper level than Church and has more appreciation for tradition than Church does. Nothing wrong with some rock in country music, hell the outlaw movement was pretty close to rock at times. My point was that everyone who takes the Grand Ole Opry stage needs to know "He Stopped Loving Her Today" inside and out, backwards and forwards.

I like the stories of his grandfather that he tells during breaks in the song. it gives u a reality to it meaning that it was written from personal experiences and memories of jamey himself instead of just some1 writing the song for another artist. its almost a tribute to his grandfather in a sense.

Tim McGraw may all have fans and people who like his kind of music, and that's FINE. To each his own. The problem is that this music is represented to the "masses" as the FACE of country music. When I think of country music, I think of Waylon, Hank, Willie, Cash, Coe, Paycheck, and guys like Jamey. Not saying your music isn't valid. It's just saying most true old school country music fans don't like it, and don't want to call it COUNTRY. Label it as POP COUNTRY and we're cool.

2 months ago, when I first heard this song on KJDX 93.3 FM, in Chester, CA . . . I got goosebumps. That hasn't changed. The DJ essentially called him "the Kristofferson of the new generation."
