  • Natural Born entertainer. God's latest gift to music.

  • 2 people don't see in color

  • DAMN!

  • do you know a better song? well, i don't. this is such an amazing song *-*

  • the best is Eric Church just singin along an grovin to it at the end you can tell he really likes the song an gets into the lyrics with Jamey

  • That man, could talk about nothing and it would still make perfect sense. How amazing was that!

  • The 2 people that dislike this, have no soul!

  • @jbird0524 TRUE.

  • I'm only 29.. but.. my whole generation and under is filled with dipshits that wear sideways hats and think they are "gangsta's". as sad as it is to say .. maybe a war would have made some appreciate life a little more.. rather than taking pride in hurting others.

  • come on people stop comparing jamey johnson and eric church they have different styles but both are great. In my opinion they are the two best country artists today and i will be a huge fan of both for life...they put on the best concerts out there bar NONE

  • @joekirk321 Amen, seen both live and they are both true country. And both have amazing live shows!

  • that guy playin guitar behind him is smokin it

  • God bless REAL country music

  • Yes, one of the best songs written in a long time. Very moving lyrics.

  • saw him live at the rhyman....it was freakin sick

  • i want to know the one asshole that staid they didn't like this song

  • man this reminds me of my papaw, and he was my step'paaaw but there was no step with him and i just recently lost him, but i will see again i hope, and this song just reminds me of him he was the best man i have ever known

  • I am not an Eric hater,, but Erics band is like 5 strong,, and Jameys is only a two man band and even sounds better!!!!!

  • Way Cool !

  • Went to the James Otto concert and he talked through this song it was real emotional it gives me chills too. But I love this song;

  • dob, its that eric is doing that for the fans as well, i went to a songwriters showcase 2 months ago with.... josh turner, bucky covington, kelly pickler, and joe nichols. and joe just sat there, and bucky was enjoying the show from the other artists, and joe stood out bigtime. looked as if he was forced to be there. he sang well, but had no interaction with the other singers. BY THE WAY, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ERIC IN CONCERT, U MUST.... WAY DIFF. THAN THIS WHERE HE HAS TO BE SEATED.

  • Sorry, I like Eric Church. He's a Carolina boy and I am too -- but he didn't even know how to play the most legendary song in country music (He Stopped Loving Her Today). That tells me a lot about how serious he is about continuing the tradition. He's a country rocker....just like everybody else.

  • @mistascott007 THAT SONG IS COUNTRY MUSIC

  • @mistascott007 I have no problem with what alot of people call country rock, sure as hell is better than that country pop bs. You know even Jamey has some some country songs that many old schoolers would consider country rock. Just because eric had trouble playing one song doesn't mean he doesn't know the traditions. Go look up "lotta boot left to fill"

  • @svtlincoln amen

  • @mistascott007 Listen to "These Boots" and "Pledge Allegiance to The Hag". You don't know what you are talking about.

  • @365cliff I've softened up on Church a little bit after hearing more of his songs. I still think Jamey's writing is on a much deeper level than Church and has more appreciation for tradition than Church does. Nothing wrong with some rock in country music, hell the outlaw movement was pretty close to rock at times. My point was that everyone who takes the Grand Ole Opry stage needs to know "He Stopped Loving Her Today" inside and out, backwards and forwards.

  • Eric Church,, looks like a retard because he is in awe of Jamey!!!!, which I understand!!,, I am also!!

  • a two man band!!!!,, simply amazing!!

  • gave me chills....awesome

  • I like how Eric Church is paying so close attention so he can learn the song.

  • dang, i love listenin to my grandma tellin me stories and showin me pictures.

  • thanks again caz1997 for posting this this is true true country

  • Jamey Johnson is the truth!

  • i know those chills you're talkin bout this song fits me and my granddad to a tee. i love this song. rip grandpa

  • this song gives me chills awsome

  • Did he tell you about Norad too?

  • True

You should have seen it in Colour.

  • If this song doesn't give you chills to hear Jamey sing this you dont appriciate good country music!!!

  • Man i cant get enough of this song. im learning it as we speak. It reminds me so much of my late Grandpa. alot of soul searching in this song.

  • i can listen to him all day!!

    #1 this year

  • love you jamey!!! thanks for saving your style of singing, waylon would be crying too!!

  • shit gave me chills listening to him talk and sing, so amazing its not even funny

  • AMAZING!!!!! This brought me to tears! I am in Love with his voice!

  • I like the stories of his grandfather that he tells during breaks in the song. it gives u a reality to it meaning that it was written from personal experiences and memories of jamey himself instead of just some1 writing the song for another artist. its almost a tribute to his grandfather in a sense.

  • Go to his site and get the free download of "My Way To You". It is awesome as well. This guy is the best out there right now!

  • I don't think anyone is a threat to country music. Someone like Jamey will always carry the torch.

  • i like to hear songls that are country not about country

  • This is a slap in the face to all those b.s. wannabe country songs that try to demonstrate how wisdom is passed across generations (Kenny Chesney, The Good Stuff, pay attention -- this is real country music)

  • Wow what a song and what a singer!!! Fantastic

  • IM GONNA SEE HIM TOMORROW!!!!

  • Thanks for posting. Can't get enough of this guy. AWESOME CD!!

  • my pepa was in world war 2

  • that is a mixed of furgy and jesus

  • i love how he adds the story to the song , it fits perfect...He could have easily recorded this song like this..such as johnny paycheck and David Allan done on several songs. Real country music.

  • Truley amazing song sounds like jennings and also Sammy Kershaw

  • Sammy Kershaw my hind end. Jamey Johnson sounds like Jamey Frickin Johnson. Jennings is someone he models his music after. But definitely no Sammy Kershaw.

  • i swear that song was written about my grandpa(s). I've seen the pictures...

  • I was there that nite and it was hands down the best live performance I have ever heard. Finally some real country music writers and singers!

Back to the roots of country

  • i miss my paw paw

    11-12-29 ----08-16-08

    my best friend

  • This song is awesome and so real and if you can't feel it,than you're simply just not human.Go out and get his entire album"That Lonsome Song",it's worth all the money!

  • goosebumbs!!

  • Lovin this beyond words !!! Istanbul TURKEY

  • Couldn't agree with you more MSGTapp. It's great to here some real country music. I also love how ashton shepard sounds for the women country singers. She sounds country.

  • This is what music is all about, people who can sit with an acoustic guitar and belt out an amazing song like this are true musicians and storytellers. Country music is so commercialized these days it refreshing to see a real person playing and singing. GO JAMEY, YOU KICK ASS!!!!!!! None of these pop country singers can even touch you man, thanks for keeping it real!

  • this is what story telling is all about.

  • jamey johnson and eric church are the two top male artists in country music in my opinion

  • Artists like Tim mcgraw, are Great, I sing pop country myself, but i posted a vid of me singing this song. Yes this is a solid country song, but other artists are just doing their thing, if you dont like their music, just pretend like they dont exsist, if you dont like his or rascal flatts, you wont like mine, you may not, but i have great fans who do.

  • Tim McGraw may all have fans and people who like his kind of music, and that's FINE. To each his own. The problem is that this music is represented to the "masses" as the FACE of country music. When I think of country music, I think of Waylon, Hank, Willie, Cash, Coe, Paycheck, and guys like Jamey. Not saying your music isn't valid. It's just saying most true old school country music fans don't like it, and don't want to call it COUNTRY. Label it as POP COUNTRY and we're cool.

  • well said alb3y

  • lentzman i agree. this guy is what REAL country is all about. artists like mcgraw should take note; they should take a hike

  • Lovin this beyond words.................

  • if a song is devoid of purpose, no matter how good it sounds, to me it's useless, i love this song because it sounds great and is full of purpose, thanks for something truly original.

  • awesome video!!

  • BADASS, sums it all up

  • My Hat IS OFF to you!!

  • This is coming from a guy who prefers alternative rock...This song talks to me a lot more than any other song I've heard. It reminds me so much of my grandparents whom are now up visiting the man in the sky, both who grew up in the depression and grandpa who fought in hell in WWII.

  • 2 months ago, when I first heard this song on KJDX 93.3 FM, in Chester, CA . . . I got goosebumps. That hasn't changed. The DJ essentially called him "the Kristofferson of the new generation." Thank God for Jamey Johnson, he IS the best thing to happen to country in a long while. "Artists" like Tim McGraw, should take note . . .

  • just watch eric church here and it will tell you how deep and real this song is!

  • powerful, don't sell the next honkytonk bidonkydonk, bought your album, moving, but you need the kick of a radio song to move, it, then your rich and can make more songs like this, thank you brother, all the joy, all the pain, country baby, country

  • Eric Church is trying to learn the song.... haha

  • Jamey > Taylor

  • Jamey is the man!!! This song is awesome, it reminds me of my grandpas and the way they like to tell about the past as I grew up around em'. I really believe Jamey is the real deal and not just made in Nashville.

  • Jamey is the next David Allen Coe. Great voice. Hope today country music radio allows this greatness to succeed!!!!

  • Sadly, It Won't happen here in the Northeast. We are stuck with commercialized country like Taylor Swift and, god forbid, Jessica Simpson.

  • How do you categorize

Taylor Swift as comercialized country. Writing every song on your first album (if im not mistaken) is a great achievement. Now i do agree with you about Jessica Simpson. Im sure she's never written a song in her life.

  • Perfect doesn't happen very often. Sit'in on the porch with a cold glass of tea, watch'in the sun set while my kids grow up play'in in the yard and remembering my own childhood while I listen to Jamey sing this wonderful song...well...that's as perfect as it gets in this simple man's life

  • this song is huge everyone loves it!

  • closest i have found to the original! Awesome job guys!

  • it is the original dummy, hahaha, that is jamey johnson, lol

  • lmao. are you serious?

  • HAHA i was watching 2 different versions and typed on this one....so i guess i was serious but not on this video

  • These 2 guys here is what we've been waiting for and missing. They've lived it...and that's what makes a song.

  • that is awesome.....eric and jamey....one room, awesome songwriters

  • I hate to be stupid but who is Eric? Sorry for not knowing but i just think guy is the best i have seen in years.

    Peace

  • eric church the guy in the center

  • I saw Jamey in Nashville in June He played this song acoustic in front of 50,000 fans at LP Field he was awesome, what a great singer songwriter!!!!

  • Its nice to hear someone who can actually sound GOOD when they perform live! All of todays music, except country, is garbage. And this song helps prove it!

  • This is absolutely amazing!! This guy is going to be huge!!

  • Jamey Johnson is the Waylong Jennings of our time. I can't wait the see the new Outlaw movement come back to Nashville.

  • this song is amazing. jamey is a lyrical genius. eric looks like he's gonna join in at any time.

  • Jamey hit the nail on the head with this song. You could put Jamey and Eric in a room and i would listen for days! I wish his pre-album show in nashville a couple of weeks ago would have went on longer.

  • Yes!! Jamey did hit the nail on the head with this one!! I could sit and listen to Jamey and Eric for days too!!
