  • great video and explanation. heading out today to try some of these variations.

  • best wakeboarding vid on youtube whose explanations one can actually follow

  • im only 12 holly crap i wish i could do tht

  • Sick à nice voice

  • Merci beaucoup, thanks a lot

  • Qui pourrais traduire en français? Trop technique et trop rapide, le commentaire pour moi!

  • @pascalonandroid Si vous allez à notre site, nous avons la transcription de la vidéo. Vous pouvez utiliser Google pour traduire la transcription.

  • Next summer hoping for hs backroll but i have a ski boat howd you think i could do it?

  • @bubblez0795 put some ballast bags in the back of ur boat to make the wake bigger. id say go 225. that should do it.

  • Okay i get very close to clearing the wake but i have trouble landing so usually i get massive air (4-5 feet) but after i get the air i fall do i just bend my knees to absorb the landing?

  • @AwesomeDudes245 yeah but when you land its gonna give you a little pop almost like an ollie enless you land on your wake but when you bend your knees and absorb it

  • I got into wakeboarding this summer (been skateboarding and snowboarding for many years) and I have started trying to jump from wake to wake, but I think our boat doesnt make big enough wakes, is this a huge factor or is it all about the jump(rope pull, legs straightened out etc)?

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • I rode yesterday after watching this video and i cleared it and with 3 hand grabs! thank you!!!!!

    -Emma

  • Wow what an excellently put together video! thank you!

  • Back of the boat... Problem is I'm stuck at this stage and would like to progress with some inverts.. Any recommendations on first attempt at an invert?

  • Hey fellow wakers.. I've been behind the boat for roughly 8 20 min sessions it's a tige rz2 with 80kg ballast and a big arse wake.. Only problem is the weather!! I'm confidently riding, normal and switch, deep water and dock starts, 180s, wake surfing, butterslides wake to wake on a 100ft of line etc and enjoying upsetting my friends who have boarded for years by being being such a fluke with progressing fairly quickly to the point of them threatening to throw stuff at me out the back of the bo

  • My handle is really uncomfortable. Is that normal or did I just get a really bad handle?

  • @ixlikexscurvy - You've got a bad handle. Well, I should say, you got a bad handle for you. Different riders prefer different handle grips. What works for one rider, might not work for another. There isn't a clear "Best handle." I'd go to your local shop and check out the different handles they have.

  • @LearnWake Is it normal to be able to use any handle? I've used anything from small, rough, and really stiff rubber handles to thicker, softer rubber handles and just really thick wooden handles and i can do the same with either of 'em

  • @ixlikexscurvy suck it up pussy

  • @1996dudeo bet you wouldn't say that to his face you have the internet to protect you so you're the pussy

  • our boat has a single pole not a bar across the top will that make it harder to jump??

  • Awesome vid...definitely helped me out...After an a few evenings of playing with different variables (boat speed and rope length) I was able to get wake to wake pretty easy but this vid was perfect for what I would like to do next. I think I need to do a little pop to get some more height and play around with the approach into the wake.

  • if my boat does not have a high pole or high bar going across it (my rope connects at the back by the ladder) can i not jump?

  • @cumminsd250 If you are getting slack in the rope when you cut back in, that is usually because you didn't wait long enough. After cutting out, you should naturally start to drift in after a few seconds. This is when it is ok to start building your edge. If you try to edge in too quick you'll get slack every time.

  • @MildonLanhorn Im haveing the same problem. we rent a boat and can get as close as you can to jumping the whole wake without going all the way across

  • @whoooooooosaskin You can always try shortening the rope some so you can clear the wakes easier. Once you master that, start trying to extend your rope out to further lengths to see if you can build your way up.

  • Best instructional video I´ve ever seen on Youtube!! Thanks alot!! Keep it up! :)

  • I have been wakeboarding for two summers now and I'm ready to try to clear the wake. But our boat does not have a ski tower like your boat, but instead just an eye at the bottom used to pull a tube. What will I have to do differently considering the rope is lower? Please help with this... I can't seem to do anything with the rope lower, and wondered what can help. Thanks!!

  • @MildonLanhorn You won't have to do anything different...except...try harder! The same principles will work for you, but you are at a slight disadvantage. Most of the fundamentals, however, can be used on any type of boat (even jet-skis). So, while you are at this level and working on jumps, 180's and switch-stance riding, don't worry about your boat as much. However, like I said, it will be a tad harder for ya.

  • i managed to jump with how the yellow and purple lines go lol i havent wakeboarded in a year

  • i just bought a yamaha sport boat not a very big wake what jump do u recomend

  • @JOHNCENASTF4LIFE Probably just learning the fundamentals. Get use to edging, and clearing the wakes. Once you are able to do that, learn all of your 180's, and become comfortable landing and riding switch. Once you have those fundamentals set, and if you are still really into wakeboarding, try to figure out a way to start getting some water time on a wakeboard boat. Make friends :)

  • if i am doing this but not on a boat meant for this but has a tower what is the ideal speed and rope length?

  • @smiesmie Depends, obviously on the boat. You want to make sure that your wake is nice and firm (not foamy). Usually an ideal speed is about 22-23 MPH.

  • @smiesmie Now, as far as rope length, once it again that depends on both your tow boat and the rider's ability level. Generally you want to be at a length where when you do a nice smooth wake jump, you land coming down the 2nd wake. Usually a goal is to be able to build up to using a longer rope because this will allow you to have a longer approach into the wake and overall longer hang time.

  • so what you do is go out as far as possible, and then let the boat pull you in a bit then turn into the wake with knees really bent and right when you reach the wake just straighten legs or do you push with the legs?

  • @Lizzylump Yes, and no. This video isn't necessarily pointing out right and wrong, as much as it is pointing out different methods for getting air on a wakeboard. Certain edge/pop combinations work for certain tricks, and other combinations work for other tricks. But overall, you your most generic wake-to-wake jump, yes...you are correct...bent knees and extending your legs at take-off is generally the most desirable technique.

  • Comment removed

  • @cumminsd250 you don't want to. you want to gradually build up your edge and when you are at the wake should be the time you have the most edge possible for the best results.

  • Hey great video it helps for sure. I just wanted to ask about the toeside version? Could you do any of these variables toeside or is there really only one way to edge toeside?

    Thanks

  • @solestress A lot of the principles are the same, however your body position is different (obviously). Lot's of times we teach to stand a little taller when edging in on your toeside, because it is easier to build leverage that way, due to the twisted position your upper-body is in when doing a toeside edge into the wake. We have a few different videos on the LearnWake website explaining toeside edging and popping.

  • Alright, so basically, I keep my knees bent when I go out / cut in, and when I hit the wake I stand up straight?

  • @T0ughstuf Different approaches/pops for different types of jumps. For the most generic pop, yes...you would want to have bent knees through the approach, and straighten your legs at take-off to spring off the top of the wake. The main thing is you don't want to absorb the wake's energy with your knees, because that will kill your pop.

  • Just bought a ski boat, new to the sport. What's the speed of the boat for this?

  • @preppyfearsome Kyle is riding 80 feet in the video with a boat speed of about 23mph. You can ride much shorter and slower if it feels more comfortable. Just make sure to keep the speed fast enough so the wake stays clean. We teach riders this same concept on a 60 foot rope at 19mph with an unweighted boat to build confidence. Then work up from their as their skills and comfort improve. Thanks for the question!

  • A very professional video! Everything from the graphics, editing, physics based variables, music, etc. Good job, keep them coming.

    Are you in central Florida?

  • @CessnaPilot99 Thanks! Yeah, we are based out of Clermont, FL.

  • nice video.. keep up the good work :)

  • @Moshaweth Thanks!

  • What was the rope length and speed for these wake jumps?

  • @okobojiWAKE13 Kyle is riding 80 feet in the video. And, these jumps were done on a longer rope to show viewers how possible it is to get high pop with such a short approach by loading the line. You don't always need a wide approach. Thanks for the question!

  • @LearnWake Thanks so much...maybe this summer I'll finally clear wake with the new approach

  • Thanks for these Great videos It really helps. I hope you keep it up! :D
