The CHL is where almost ALL of the draft picks either come from or get drafted out of idiot! The Canadian Hockey League is composed of the WHL (western), OHL (ontario) and the QMJHL (quebec major junior) and it is the best non-pro hockey in the world.

If more US-born players went to play in the WHL (the toughest, more physical of the 3 CHL leagues) I think they would be far more ready for the jump to the pros than if they played college. American players should play a year in college then go North to Canada to play.

Erik Johnson (who happens to be an American player who came up through the NCAA ranks). Four of the first eight picks in that draft class were Americans. Not to mention, Jonathan Toews (a Canadian and the 3rd overall pick) played WHERE before getting drafted? That's right, Corky. UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA. Hey man, I can't knock the NCAA hockey too mush cuz it DOES produce some great talent like my buddy who I grew up with Duncan Keith (D-man for Chi) but for the most part they will go to the CHL for atleast a year of conditioning to get ready for the grind that is the NHL. As for the Americans that went in Okposo's draft, good for them because what the league needs is good american players so we can market the game in the U.S. markets and get this league back where it belongs.....above the NBA!
