How stupid do you have to be to leave a halter on a horse in a pasture?? You only have to see a horse reach a back foot up to scratch its ear one time to see how dangerous this is...
@horshooer if you notice the horses in this video have leather halters on and if a certain amount of pressure is applied they snap ... its the ones that are made of nylon that don't snap. and i am sure the breeders know what they are doing as these horses must be valuable as they might be the next top racehorses :)
I've been told by a horse-oriented friend that the racing industry races horses at too young an age, damaging them and throwing most of them away... Any truth to that?
thats what i think, but not all people feel that way..
they typically race a horse at 2 i think, and horses dont stop growing until they are 5. there for if the slightest thing happens, such as tripping, their bones r very fragile and can break easily because they arent fully developed... and yeah owners have been known to "throw away" a horse if they arent fast enough, not competitive, etc. luckily there are many people searching for off track thoroughbreds:)
Wonder how Tiger Hills offspring will do, he is a Danehill after all. Watch out next season, Alamshar's 2 year olds are coming to Europe, Alamshar is one of my fav horses ever, he won me big money in the King George & Queen Elizabeth stakes, can't believe I got 8/1 that day. He had won the Irish Derby beating Dalakhani! Bookies do sometimes give away money after all. :D
This is a very nice piece. Where are you? We raise thoroughbreds in Texas. Take a look at my piece on the National Stud Farm in Britain. Cheers, bestjonbon
We slaughter hundreds of thouands of horses each year in this country -- to be eaten overseas by humans. Please contact your Representatives and ask them to co-sponsor HR 503 and ask your Senators to co-sponsor S311 -- help us ban the slaughter of horses; support the American Horse Slaughter Protection Act.
