man games like this one use to cheat soooo badly. there would times where they expect you to jump into nothingness to continue on. how can i make my next move if i don't know if i'll live or not? lol
For those who accuse him of cheating and complain, please notice that this collection is based on World Set 2, and not Set 1. The main differences are the following...
1) The Red Arremers are much slower than in Set 1.
2) The Red Arremers take only 6 hits to die, while the ones in Set 1 take 12.
3) You can't make the dragon from Level 4 disappear, like you do in Set 1.
In any case, you have good skills. Congratulations.
@DiegoVizia at the last stage as well, there are two ogres instead of 1 and those two ogres will rush you while the one in the easier world is a sissy and will just bounce up and down.
Hey!!! you killed the flying red moster 8:44 with very few hits!!! WTF??? you need a lot more hits to finish him! and I don't think you done it just because of the Shield... please answerme!!!!!
This reminds me of a game I played way back when in the 90's. I think it was nintendo? Hell I'm not sure. It might have been castlevania I don't recall. But damn it was fun. I later learned that I like RPGs, but the roots of my love were in that game. I remember collecting gold and potions and things. It was fun learning about the levels and how to beat them more effective. Anyway I"m a believer that good games don't need realistic graphics anymore than they need realistic gameplay.
i have this exact version of the game and i am completely impressed on how easy you make it look, for a game with basic controls, it can be a real pain in the ass! lol anyone agree?
Fantastic run of this beast of a game...I seriously think this first installment in the series was RIGGED. But then again...the whole point of coin operated machines was to steal your money, correct? This game had only six levels (looped twice, so technically 12), as opposed to 255 in most games of that time period (Dig Dug, Pacman, Galaga, Galaxian)....so they had to be quite difficult in order for Capcom to make a profit. Either way, I love it...but in all honestly I prefer the Gargoyles game.
Ah, the spirit of old Capcom games: agile enemies and hero as agile as a bucket of wet debris (slow, low jumps and only horizontal attacks). Nevertheless, it is possible to reach the last stage with training and lots and lots of patience. And do you wanna see the end? Beat the game twice. :)
@supersmashbrawler100 Most hardcore gamers would refer to it as that. It took me about fifeteen hours to finish, on the easiest setting! Ghouls n Ghosts is easier IMO....and unless you're a sadist you are better off playing that version. Or its spinoff, the Gargoyle's Quest games. I cleared those when I was about 9 or 10 years old...
hahaha!! 1 cyclop in the fifth level only, plus the firebrands seem to have a worm brain, Besides in the real arcade u cannot use ur weapon that fast if u r only stood when shooting. Now that you have beaten it in easy. Why don't you try hard or at least normal mode
Thanks for the videos, I keep watching to learn all of your tricks in GnG. One major thing I've noticed is you really have to keep moving and try not to stop. Have you played Rastan and Rygar? Both games are similar and you'd probably enjoy them.
do anybody know when the arcade version of this game come out in the Wii shop channel in America cause I heard Capcom was going to release this game and 5 other arcade games (which two of them are already on the channel) for virtual console.
This looks definitely better than the NES version which is on the Wii Virtual Console. I've heard that the arcade version is also coming to the Virtual Console at the end of 2010. Maybe I'll get it then.
The hardest game I ever played... I can't even begin to remember how many quarters I spent, and I never did see the end. I had seen one guy get near the end... but he like so many other brave knights, perished with those damn furry devils... I wish they still made games like this :)
This is very impressive, but the hardware you're running it on is really helping you out. I don't know if you're ever played GnG on one of the original arcade machines, but it is not this smooth.
You are very, very skilled. Don't think I was taking anything away from you :)
@doctorx0079 Me too! Today, you'll only find some games that should go down in history. You look back, you see hundreds of classics. I wish they would sell them.
@DraGGos fuck you you fucking asshole how dare you call me a newb, you don't even know me i've been a member of you tube for many years and i've been on the internet for even longer fuck you and the ground you walk on i hope you die a slow painful death and rot in hell! Fucking fanboy troll piece of shit.
God I used to play this all day long at Alladin's Castle at our local mall when I was a kid. I leave soaked in sweat at the end of the day, hahaha. Goooooood times!
how do you get the arcade version? I have the sega one on my pc but it's not like this one, the map is a little different and so is the music. I always loved the original arcade the best. The NES version sorta sucked..
@dmajorhiphopproducer , to get the arcade version, as the one i have, you can download a MAME emulator and a rom with this game in RomNation (For example).
But note that every version of MAME doesn't execute certain games, the version i have with Ghosts'n'goblins is MAME32 0.81. Greetings.
From memory as a kid playing this game over and over, the difficulty is waaay lower than the arcade was. That red devil you see after the graveyard in stage 1, takes 6 hits not 3 to kill. Check it on MAME with a rom. Some of the bosses (mainly the Dragon thing takes more hits to the head to beat). I know its from the Capcom Classics, and still an impressive run, give the true rom version a whirl it's a bitch :)
@Thrymm I remember when I was a kid....I use to play this game at the pool hall. I would sneak out the house with my brother and the game baby-sat me while he was playing pool. I NEVER knew you needed the shield to beat the last boss. I lost so much money playing this damn game.
Nice fucking job. This DESERVES 5 stars. I've only reached set 2 level 3 of the NES version, and that's with tons of game overs and savestates on the title screen.
Woah! The red gargoyle doesn't fly in this one? This IS easlier than the NES version. Kinda surprising. Usually, the arcade version is like 1000 times harder.
Oh, it flies if you let it. Try it and see for yourself. Also, anyone who thinks the NES version is harder, try this one. Go ahead and see for yourself.
Key phrase "if you let it." In the NES version, it's going to fly regardless. I've even watched speed runs and no death runs for the NES version. I've never seen anyone keep the NES gargoyle on the ground.
People think Contra is hard because they are too lazy to try it without the 30 lives code. They fail to realize that with a bit of practice and actually attempting to dodge something once in awhile, it's not too bad.
@doctorx0079 I know it's been a year...but DAMN STRAIGHT brother. I'm 15...and played the living hell out of this game through the Wii's arcade service. I beat if...finally...after 3 days of 5 hour or so sessions. It's a shame most people my age will never even hear of this game, let alone play or finish it. While they're busying meddling with Black Ops, I will be playing the games that segregate the men from the boys so to speak. :)

Yeah, this was the first time I made it on one life. I was so tired of playing it that I decided to just use this one. Puts you on the edge of your seat doesn't it?
The glitches actually make the NES version easier.
Now Deadly Towers, that's an unpleasant game. I know how to beat it but you have to know exactly where to go. You spend so much time just trying to get money . . it's just not worth it. At least in GnG you get to keep going to the right.

Yeah, and if you REALLY want hard.. play this on the NES. Still frustrates the crap outta me. The Gameboy Color version is as easy as the arcade in comparison.

I guess if I mastered it, it wouldn't be Ghosts n Goblins.

This seems a little easier than the nes because red demons are a lot easier on this.

Yup sure is. I have yet to find a game just as hard.
Unless you count Mortal Kombat 2, on that Midways Collection, they do fatilities on ya and everything, I gave up on it.

Hardest game ever. Ever.

Personally I think Defender and Robotron are much harder.

Yeah, and if you REALLY want hard.. play this on the NES. Still frustrates the crap outta me. The Gameboy Color version is as easy as the arcade in comparison.

Humph. I think the NES version is easier than the arcade, but YMMV I guess. The NES version is the first one I beat.
