  • Djembe rocks !!!!

  • How do you play this? It sounds bass, tone tone, bass bass, tone-tone-tone

  • love this music !!!!!!

  • I really love this beat. I'll have to try to get a round of this going at our next meetup locally. It looks really fun.

    Two questions:

    1. Is this a traditional African song?

    2. Are the beat and "lyrics" online somewhere, so I could send it to my "circle"?

  • Not sure... our guide called it "Fanga", and I think ts origin is Mali...

  • I found it using that info. Thanks!

From what I found, it's "Fanga Alafia", which means "Welcome" (Fanga), "in peace" (alafia). Which is an awesome message in any culture.

  • @Skullpudding signals on there such as that started at 1:55 are typical signals used in classes (at the very least) that are distinctive 'next phase' signals. The Soloist at 1:10 used, what I believe were traditional, and the 'talking' (I forget what the actual term is) between the soloist and another drummer at 1:24 - 1:28 is traditional. (I haven't analysed the rest of the vid because it's too long, these are examples). Good effort from the group, they just need to be less shy and go for it.

  • Absolutely GREAT!

  • This Drumming is very enjoyable and makes me want to dance.

  • I am also black and your comment is ridiculous. A Negative comment is negative regardless of the SOURCE. Take a moment to think about it. Maybe it will make sense to you if you try not to be judgemental.

  • there's no soul nor resonance. good try though.

  • haha...at 0:45 it looks like that guy is playing the drums

    with a crowbar! :D

But anyway..i love african drumming...should be a big influence for every drummer!

  • dotn start chatting crap bout been dipped in black cos we all know that you mum stinks like a dead donkey in summer

  • Im black so I can make a racist comment because it does not degrade me or the people who share my skin color!

Also its fine for a racist joke to be said once someone of the race being attacked states that its okay, lawls!

  • thats just plain bullshit
