on the 7 min of the vid. you say theres nothing black can do ?? what about taking the knight with rook ??? this should take away all threats.. considering white is already down a rook .. the only advantage would be the pawn up for white. What do you thin k..? BTW LOVE your videos .. please Reply i need to know what you think .. or email me at donaldplus1@yahoo.com .. thanks
@donaldplus1 the problem for black in that position after rook takes knight and the bishop takes the rook is that qe8 needs to be protected against AND Bf5 needs to be protected against. the only move that does this is Nd7, and then after Kxf1, white is two pawns up and winning easily.
an example of trying to save the bishop that fails is Bb5, Bf5, g6, Bxg6 and then the h7 problems combined with e6 issues are going to cause black's resignation shortly
It's a question I always asked myself: Is there anything crushing after white castled if b4 by black, kicking the defender of e4 and trying to take this pawn?
Great commentary. This was poetry in motion. I bet this type of game will be studied 50-75 years from now, and people will still be learning new things.
Excellent analysis, and for the less adept (such as me), the played out variations to the "What would happen if..." at each crux within the game. I've noticed that Kasparov has an excellent mastery of sacrifices, pins, and forks in order to achieve his goal of gaining critical position squares and ultimately, winning the game.
Very good analysis and commentary. I absolutely love these kinds of positions when the opponent is just one step away from a great move but can't get there because he's under attack from a different angle :)
kingcrusher, your speech has become more vivid and enigmatic which i like.I wander very much how Karpov could play that Kasparov monster to a nearly equal score. Most of the game i sat with my mouth gaping,Jesus, this way of playing...i just wander hooow? Karpov could fight him to the very last. For example see English best Short against Kasparov match ended with crushing win of Kasparov.
How did Kasparov manage to make world class players look so ordinary. Some moves there were 'ordinary'. Qg3 followed by Bh6 is almost like a beginers attack!
forget about beginner play, it was a very good move. force the knight back which ties it down to the defence of g7 effectively removing it from the game
Indeed it was but it is common at beginers level. Here it was tremendously strong. That is my comparison and not referring to it as a 'beginers' move.

At the position where white plays Qg3, can't black counter with Nh5 threatening the queen?

after Rad1 , apart from Bd7, why not Kh8,it gives black equal play doesn't it ?

that's one of the features of the best - making other brilliant opponents bleak out in the sheer presence of a champ

good move, despite its crudeness
