my bday is this fri and im turning 14 but im going to be trainer 4 a day w/dolphins!!! I have been wanting to do this since age 1 1/2 or 2 when i fell in love w/ dolphins when i first touched the dolphin, Nellie who is now 58 (i went to her bday party!) :D
great video. I love orcas so much i would love to be trainer because i also love being in the water. the only problem for me i cant stand public speaking. sucks. I hope though you get to become a trainer it seems like it would be amazing. :)
I have just started getting into Shamu. I am 17 and I am planning on becoming a nurse. I am in a class at school which has given me a chance to learn CPR and SFA so I am certified in both although CPR is just for a year so that's something I will have to earn again♥ This looks like so much fun though, I don't know I may switch career goals♥
@estelle497 Thx!Yea im actually taking speech classes in school,i'm gonna study phsychology later in HS or college,& next year i can be a lifeguard @ my YMCA so im always practicing swimming.Thx 4 helping,it means a lot to me to talk to someone with the same intrest :)
@MirandaLynnzie I would personally recommend taking speech classes, as well as studying psychology. Also work on your swimming skills. And if you can, apply for an internship at SWO. :)
Thx!Yea im actually taking speech classes now in school,im going to learn psychology later in HS or college,& next year i can be a lifeguard @ a YMCA so im always practicing swimming 4 that :) Thx 4 the help,it means a lot to me 2 talk to someone who has the same intrest as me :)
Also, a good way to get inside tips about becoming a trainer is to talk to trainers on social networking websites like Facebook, incase you're interested. :)
There are several places in Europe where you could work with orcas, like Marineland Antibes in France and Loro Parque in Spain. Working at an American park is just an option. :)
Just study and work hard, build up your swimming skills, and gain experience and you can do anything. :)
awsome i love thissong and orcas i aso want to be an orca tranier what orca do u like the best y fav is orkid and unna and kalia btw thsis my bros account=P
Awesome. XD There are so many people who share this dream! It's great to have the support of other people, as then you can see how they are trying to achieve it. XD Great Photos.
Hey girl, How was your summer? I think of you a lot and here's hoping you are making strides toward your dream! Hope you got to see your beloved orcas and I repeat what i told you earlier. Never lose the dream and You go Girl!
I have been talking to the people there by email and I have decided the best chance I have of getting in is going to moor park college. How about everyone els?
I've thought about going to Moor Park, however most likely I'll go to University of Florida for a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Veterinary Medicine, and do internships at SeaWorld and Aquatica during the last several years of college, however, for probably the first two or three years, doing jobs like concessions or Adventure Camp counselor: just to break into the SeaWorld business :)
I have the same dream. Orca's are a work of art. Delicate to a point and majestic to a point. It's perfect. People who train them, are simply amazing. I look up to laura, AKA Shamu's trainer. I wish you all good luck! XD
i dont think you realize wat these animals are going through, this is captivity here sure you might think its oke because the look happy and they have other whales with them. But dont you get it, there in a small tank with nowhere to go but in circles, the deserve ther real home in the ocean. Well yes tough world out there too with whalers and oil spills and all. But thats where they belong, not in the small tank where its loud and small. Just because they look happy doesnt mean they are.
I never said that they simply looked happy. Yes, indeed, some orcas definitely deserve the ocean more than the conditions that they're going through, but orcas at SeaWorld have better lives than some humans.
Please lol i didnt try to sound rude or any of that mean crap before. if i did im so sorry and yeas i see. My dream is to work with these animals but its not just playing lol its work work work! and im torn of my dream because these animals need the best. wow i hope i worded this all right XD XD.
These whales are creatures like you and me. Training them all day is a dream job absoltely, these people put tears, blood, strength into these animals. It's work guys. Not just playing with whales all day! You have to have backgrounds such as
-bioligy
-marine bioligy
-zooiligy
If you sit around all day talking and making video's about -how your an orca trainer-
your going to get nowhere! Practice swimming diving working with animals! Luv the video ry!
We know that. And we all know what it takes to become a trainer. Making videos about the orcas and their trainers is simply a way of admiring what they do every day. You say it like we're not dedicated to what it takes. We plan every part of our lives to reach our goal. For me, swimming and diving are my favorite sports. In the summer, I swim 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. So yes, in fact, we do understand.
I just became old enough to attend Career Camp, but I have not been so far.. XD - I have attended two, week-long camps in Florida and San Diego, though!
I want to work for Busch in Florida, just personal reference as they have plenty of ops. But I would also like to be employed for the Dubai parks when they open in the next decade!
For SCUBA, that's the general age that you are allowed to become certified - in any state. I believe First AID is the same. CPR, I'm not as sure of, but I believe it is somewhere around that age. :)
I don't know... I guess I have some sort of hater. I'm thinking about reporting this to YouTube. They mark my videos down, along with the comments people post on them.

Sometimes I don't know...
Am I pro- or anti captivity?
Well, in the case of the sea-world orcas, I'm pro.
But in Lolita's case... Absolutely anti captivity!
I think it depends on the orcas conditions. The orcas at Seaworld seem very happy, and they have pretty large tanks.
Wel, I hope you make your dream come true. I'll see you at Seaworld one day :)
