I have just started getting into Shamu. I am 17 and I am planning on becoming a nurse. I am in a class at school which has given me a chance to learn CPR and SFA so I am certified in both although CPR is just for a year so that's something I will have to earn again♥ This looks like so much fun though, I don't know I may switch career goals♥

@MirandaLynnzie I would personally recommend taking speech classes, as well as studying psychology. Also work on your swimming skills. And if you can, apply for an internship at SWO. :)

There are several places in Europe where you could work with orcas, like Marineland Antibes in France and Loro Parque in Spain. Working at an American park is just an option. :)

Just study and work hard, build up your swimming skills, and gain experience and you can do anything. :)

what is everyones plans to make it to sea world?

I have been talking to the people there by email and I have decided the best chance I have of getting in is going to moor park college. How about everyone els?

I've thought about going to Moor Park, however most likely I'll go to University of Florida for a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Veterinary Medicine, and do internships at SeaWorld and Aquatica during the last several years of college, however, for probably the first two or three years, doing jobs like concessions or Adventure Camp counselor: just to break into the SeaWorld business :)

Well, in the case of the sea-world orcas, I'm pro.

But in Lolita's case... Absolutely anti captivity!

I think it depends on the orcas conditions. The orcas at Seaworld seem very happy, and they have pretty large tanks.

i dont think you realize wat these animals are going through, this is captivity here sure you might think its oke because the look happy and they have other whales with them. But dont you get it, there in a small tank with nowhere to go but in circles, the deserve ther real home in the ocean. Well yes tough world out there too with whalers and oil spills and all. But thats where they belong, not in the small tank where its loud and small. Just because they look happy doesnt mean they are.

I never said that they simply looked happy. Yes, indeed, some orcas definitely deserve the ocean more than the conditions that they're going through, but orcas at SeaWorld have better lives than some humans.

These whales are creatures like you and me. Training them all day is a dream job absoltely, these people put tears, blood, strength into these animals. It's work guys. Not just playing with whales all day! You have to have backgrounds such as

If you sit around all day talking and making video's about -how your an orca trainer-

your going to get nowhere! Practice swimming diving working with animals! Luv the video ry!

We know that. And we all know what it takes to become a trainer. Making videos about the orcas and their trainers is simply a way of admiring what they do every day. You say it like we're not dedicated to what it takes. We plan every part of our lives to reach our goal. For me, swimming and diving are my favorite sports. In the summer, I swim 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. So yes, in fact, we do understand.

For SCUBA, that's the general age that you are allowed to become certified - in any state. I believe First AID is the same. CPR, I'm not as sure of, but I believe it is somewhere around that age. :)
