How in hell does Michel direct his American actors? Do they understand French or does he speak in broken English. Can someone translate what he said in this interview?

Nothing against Gondry. I think he is a genius filmmaker. It amazes me that he can direct, in timely fashion, non-French speaking actors on feature with deadlines. There is no time to have a communication problem on a 40 million dollar film.
