Gods of various kinds have been traced back about 20,000 years or so...In her book 'A History of God', Karen Armstrong discussed the very earliest of pagan gods which date back to around that time. She then goes through the polytheistic religions and some of the monotheistic ones. It's a very intersting book, especially when you consider that Karen was a catholic nun.

I know that what we refer to as Judaism is not the oldest religious tradition, however this is accounted for in the Bible, as the Isrealites and the birth of modern Judaism came about only after Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt.

Gods of various kinds have been traced back about 20,000 years or so...In her book 'A History of God', Karen Armstrong discussed the very earliest of pagan gods which date back to around that time. She then goes through the polytheistic religions and some of the monotheistic ones. It's a very intersting book, especially when you consider that Karen was a catholic nun.
