When I found this song a couple years ago, it spoke to me because of what my girlfriend and I were going through. I think this version will always have a special place in my heart, but I of course hunted down and listened to the original afterward, and it's great too.

It's not trying to be rock. If they were really trying to define themselves as a rock band, they wouldn't cover a slow song like this. The Killers are comfortable with their own style and they're paying tribute to one of the greatest songs ever written.

Granted the Dire Strait's original will always be the best, but this isn't too bad of a cover.
