How to get Halo 2 for PC to run on Windows 7

I found while creating a Windows Live ID you can create a local profile in the game to make it work .... first follow the instruction as above mentioned by pirate. then when you enter the game if it still asks for the windows live id go into the create profile , after clicking it on the next window scroll down the bar, as you can c there is a "create local profile" on last line ... click on it to make a local profile and then you can go into the game .... this is working for me ... ENJOY GUYS ..

step 2: run every file that you moved to the halo2 folder. (and remember to run the: Run One [File]

then after doing all that.. enjoy the game.

@TheJohnny012 What you should do is go to the XLive fix folder and there will be an app there "gfwlivesetup". Run it, and try to run Halo 2.

@shaneshanon039 Sorry to hear about that! I didn't intend for that to happen. Many other people have run my fix without any serious issues.

How exactly was your computer messed up? Did Windows not boot up? If you could at least get into safe mode, my fix actually has a feature to reverse the changes it made.

@PirateOfTheInternet My laptop couldn't enter the windows at all. It just says about software or hardware problem and need to use windows installation disc to repair it. I repaired it already, no problem. My laptop couldn't open the shortcut files at first so I used your "restore". And when I restart it, it just wouldn't let me enter the windows. Anyway it's just bad luck, I don't blame you.

@AkieAndrew Yes, the game can be played in fullscreen if your hardware can handle it. It's worth buying if you don't have an xbox, if you want to play online, and if you want better graphics(the graphics in the PC version are slightly better than the xbox version). I've never played the online multiplayer though because, unlike Halo 1 PC, you have to pay to use the online. My fix doesn't do anything for or hack the online multiplayer; it just makes the game run.

Bless you for your work on the fix for halo 2 pc!!!!!!! I have had several computers running win 7 either be able to play without any work or just never work at all. The catroot thing is total crap. Your Fix is the absolute bomb!!! I have a serious system including a gtx 560 ti card and am def not going to have halo 2 not work. It plays great. Still can't run multi though???

@lawnnmusicguy1 It depends on the power of the GPU and how much memory is on the graphics card. I used to have an Nvidia card with 512mb memory and Halo 2 worked great.

easier way to make it run on win7: go to the folder where Halo 2 is, right click on halo2.exe, go to properties, go to compatibility, then chose Windows Vista as the service pack. LIKE SO EVERYBODY CAN SEE!

I tried first time when i got the game but it didn't work, so i changed to 32 bit and that worked. But then i got 4gb memory which would only work on 64bit. Since then it works.
