@chezbalz well because when you have an open, hollow can like that as a substitution for a muffler, you have no back pressure. Without back pressure on a two stroke engine, for some reason it decreases your power. I don't know why but it does. But on the stock muffler, there is like some cotton like material that blocks some exhaust from escaping the exhaust chamber.

@on3m4n55 it decreases performance because there is no back pressure in the pipe and it allows the fuel mixture too escape easier through the exhaust port as apposed too if there was back pressure stopping it....thats just my knowldge :)

if there was like a muffler with a plate inside of it in the middle, like a catylic converter on a car, then it would have more rpms. just putting that thing makes no difference but make your muffler a lower quality..

you did lose power see if the pocket bike had a 3" exhaust it would get hell of hp but u just restricted the air flow. its like if ur forcing the air back into the engine :|

It's a 2 stroke engine. You NEED it to be forcing gasses back into the engine.
