@converse91970 I just posted fifteen minutes of various clips from the series. Unfortunately I did not add the end credits to it. Have a look if your interested. The music used in various episodes of the show is still impressive today. Have a listen.
@AfghansHound No worries, I managed to find it elsewhere. I will check out the other clips. Sad to hear that a couple of the cast members have passed away, far too young!
Could some1 please post the episodes online if u have them. I can't find them anywhere and I haven't seen them in the stores. :( From the comments i've read, it sounds like a good show and i REALLY want to watch them. :D
@elphatraGuin They are available on DVD in the UK - go to amazon.co.uk. Though there are only a couple of full length stories spread over various episodes. Still great kids TV.
I am afraid to say Jolie Newman who played Joanne the tomboy sadly died, nine years ago aged 36. It was a shame but there you are, these things happen to us all sooner or later and we have to face them.
this used to be on in england until about 1993 !! only 3 stories weren't there, ok okins kidnapped and a doppleganger replaced him, a monkey who could do sign language with a deaf girl and a little boy was kidnapped by ned beattie
Hehe, remember really being annoyed at the girl in this; I was a really girly girl (still am) and loved Barbie etc, and kept wondering why this tomboy girl was hanging around a group of boys and running about getting dirty... lol
How come the one kid got to play a character by the same name? Was the role written for him? Was he the coolest character? Famous before the show? Anybody have the trivia on this?
i recall the kids in this series seeming a lot older - presumably as i was only 4 at the time.
only thing i can really remember is an episode where a woman is keeping the girl captive and having to drink a glass of milk in front of a cop to keep up the pretence.
i wrote to jimmy saville to ask if he could fix it for me to have an adventure with the red hand gang.....im still waiting for a reply.....(im not even joking,my sister still loves to tell people that story!)
ha! I have been trying to remember the name of this program for years and years, I used to watch it as a kid and I have never been able to get the theme tune out of my head. Came to me in a flash and I thought I would chance seeing if it was here. Thank god someone posted this on youtube (why?) and maybe now my brain can rest in peace!
I remember this kids tv programme well. It was great and I'd like to see what they look like now. There's only the male members of the gang left. Jolie Newman died seven years ago.
Wow! The Red Hand Gang! The BEST children's TV show ever made, I used to watch this at nine years of age and absolutely loved it! Great theme music and I loved the adventures. Great to see it again here on YT. Excellent!
when i was a kid getting changed for p.e we used to say "want to join the red hand gang " if the victim said "yes" you would slap them so hard it left a red mark
omg this was favourite show EVER!!! Id sing the song all the time. Id totally forgotten about it. I wanted to be an american street kid so bad because of this show, I even got one of those banana shaped skateboards because of this show!!!! and it didnt hurt that guy from Little House on the Prairie (my other fav show) was in it.
Hey - just bought this on dvd as came out in the uk 29/09/08. loved watching it again and bought all the memories flooding back. my 6 year old son loved it. Apparently Jolie Newman who played Joanne died some years ago.
I loved this show as a kid! My brother and I formed our own "gang" and went around the neighborhood taking down license plate numbers, while riding our skateboards of course. When there was a robbery at an apartment house it turned out we had gotten the car make and license of the thieves. It was awesome!
They also did a TV Advert for Bubble Yum bubble gum. One of the gang, on his arrival back from a holiday in England, told the rest that they didn't have Bubble Yum in England and they couldn;t believe it. The catch phrase was "The flavour last this long" - with his arms spread out wide. The rest of the gang then ll said "right !"
The reason we all wante to solve crimes in the 70`s !!! Whatever happened to Silas, remember that ? Bring back the long summer holidays of the late 70`s and early 80`s !!!
On our housing estate at the same time there was a gang who styled themselves on these. The Brown Hand Gang. Similar smearing techniques. Not pleasant.
Me too! :o) I hum the tune ALL the time. I remember he called the Nocturina a 'Sweet Potato'.I'd never seen anything like it before and I kept asking my Mum for a sweet potato for Christmas. She was proper confused and thought I was taking the P!
Didn't they go around solving crimes or something by painting their hands red and then smearing them on parked cars and the like? Hence the name. What did they use for paint, and was it water soluble? Good job they weren't called the Brown Hand Gang.
holy shit!!!!.....unbelievable though it seems I remember being scared of this show when it was on tv.....must have been four or five years old I think.....seeing it now it still gives me the creeps when that man's hand touches the kid's shoulder....what a wuss I must have been!!!
I remember watching this show in England when I was about six, it was sooo cool, I can still hum the theme tune thirty years later. I remember that it seemed to run for years, well into the early eighties - were there many series or did the BBC just show lots of re-runs?
Oh my god that is sooo funny I grew up watching this in England and now live in SC and no-one here has ever heard of this show how weird is that????? I loved this show
The greatest thing about the theme is that it had no lyrics and was therefore easy for a small child to sing back: "la la la lalala". Wonderful! Those were the days...
That's correct, loved that show as well! He also played Albert on "Little House On The Praire", who gets adopted by the Ingals. Did the movie "Deadly Friend" with Kristy Swanson too!
Nice flashback was this video. This TV serie was a success in Costa Rica in the early 80s. My skateboard still works for the adventures of the RHG... 30 years after.
when iwatched this as a kid all i wanted to do was move to america and join a gang and solve mysteries they were way cooler than the kids from why dont you (a shit english show)
remember being a kid and getting my dad to get me a radio just like the red hand gang and it hardly working. unlike the red hang gangs that had a range of over 2000 miles..
I try not to use the "word" that often as it's horrible over used on the internet but... LOL. James Bond III, what a wonderfull name to call your kid, especially if he's black...
