  • Nice to see this again. Does anyone have the closing titles/theme tune as well? I liked that too!

  • @converse91970 I just posted fifteen minutes of various clips from the series. Unfortunately I did not add the end credits to it. Have a look if your interested. The music used in various episodes of the show is still impressive today. Have a listen.

  • @AfghansHound No worries, I managed to find it elsewhere. I will check out the other clips. Sad to hear that a couple of the cast members have passed away, far too young!

  • 0.33 - 0.35 LOL!! I vaguely remember that there was a kid called that...

  • Loved this when I was a kid. Never saw it again till years and years later but I could always whistle the theme tune.

  • Could some1 please post the episodes online if u have them. I can't find them anywhere and I haven't seen them in the stores. :( From the comments i've read, it sounds like a good show and i REALLY want to watch them. :D

  • @elphatraGuin They are available on DVD in the UK - go to amazon.co.uk. Though there are only a couple of full length stories spread over various episodes. Still great kids TV.

  • Jonny Brogna who played Lil Bill also died in 2009, according to his IMDB profile

  • I am afraid to say Jolie Newman who played Joanne the tomboy sadly died, nine years ago aged 36. It was a shame but there you are, these things happen to us all sooner or later and we have to face them.

  • Does anyone know how they died? bit shockin. Used to love to watch it back in the seventies!

  • Make her drink milk again! SHE HATES MILK! MAKE HER DRINK IT!

  • this used to be on in england until about 1993 !! only 3 stories weren't there, ok okins kidnapped and a doppleganger replaced him, a monkey who could do sign language with a deaf girl and a little boy was kidnapped by ned beattie

  • I LOVEDDD THIS SHOW WE WOULD PRETEND we were the characters

  • The littlest boy is not dead - girl yes

  • @Kemnaygeography

The boy is dead, he died in 2009

  • @banashtar I heard Johnny Brogna, died two years ago, it is a damn shame but we all die one day and it is one thing we cannot rub out.

  • This used to air on Saturdays, after the cartoons. I recall it in 1977 on WNBC in New York at the age of 7.

  • Sad that the girl and littlest boy have since died.

  • Delighted to see this, The Banana Splits and Here Come The Double Deckers intros. Pure self-indulgent nostalgia. Beats the hell out of Pokemon.

  • Thanks for putting this up on youtube......memories, this show was great when I was five

  • Wot a frobak. Love it.

  • Great song lyrics... All together now.. La-La-La-La-La..... etc.

  • Wonder what James Bond 3rd is doing now?

  • @cocteaua - hoping to become the next James Bond

  • Bet this lot are all drug addicts now or brown bread

  • I remember being quite terrified of the kidnapping story and my mum was amazed that one of the actors was called James Bond III.

  • That's who Matthew Laborteux played. He was also great in Whiz Kids.

  • I hated this show when I was a kid, and that awful theme tune! It always came on in the summer when the good programmes were finished.

  • i absolutely loved this when i was little! thanks for posting-brought a smile to my face :o)

  • Hehe, remember really being annoyed at the girl in this; I was a really girly girl (still am) and loved Barbie etc, and kept wondering why this tomboy girl was hanging around a group of boys and running about getting dirty... lol

  • @RetroGirl1974 i like dirty girls

  • lalala la lala lalala la lala

  • was this canadian?

  • Do you think it was 'blood in blood out' to join?

  • I so used to fancy frankie!!!

  • I thought I dreamed this cos none of my friends remember it! I loved it!

  • @TheGayle1875

I was ther same even my older sisters can't remember it, great programme x

  • Is it true that Jolie Newman died?

  • @battywattywoo yes she died in march 2002 at age 36

  • @1969maxpower 36, gosh, that's my current age! How sad. What happened?

  • I used to rush home to watch this on TV way back as a nipper. OMG and Ive just youtubed it. Whats a blast from the past. I need to grow up lol.

  • school summer hols at mi nans while she looked after us til mi mum picked us up!!!! ha

  • I remember an episode where the blonde girl pretended to be a shop mannequin for some reason...

  • Quality.

  • I was always intrigued by "doc" james bond the third ! what a name !

  • A staple on morning tv during every school holiday !

Quality.......I always liked the jewel thief one, where they end up in that old house, pretending it is haunted to scare the thieves !

  • Its all so incredibly familiar even though I haven't seen it in donkey's years.

  • the american version of the famous five?

  • Yeah I remember it and thinking it tanked! Double Deckers was way better!

  • Me too, it was crap! Double Deckers for ever!

  • How come the one kid got to play a character by the same name? Was the role written for him? Was he the coolest character? Famous before the show? Anybody have the trivia on this?

  • i recall the kids in this series seeming a lot older - presumably as i was only 4 at the time.

only thing i can really remember is an episode where a woman is keeping the girl captive and having to drink a glass of milk in front of a cop to keep up the pretence.

  • Where is James Bond III now?

  • christ, this brings back memories, how youtube knew to 'suggest' it to me is quite worryin

  • i wrote to jimmy saville to ask if he could fix it for me to have an adventure with the red hand gang.....im still waiting for a reply.....(im not even joking,my sister still loves to tell people that story!)

  • Jimmy Saville has still several years to spend of his jail sentence maybe he will write to you when he gets out.

  • @iloveacuppa LOL, now THATS a story! haha i think Sir Jimmy owes you one, i wonder what they all look like now?

  • @iloveacuppa that would of been his greatest fix it ever jim had some connections but they didnt go that high

  • @iloveacuppa ....lmao

  • ha! I have been trying to remember the name of this program for years and years, I used to watch it as a kid and I have never been able to get the theme tune out of my head. Came to me in a flash and I thought I would chance seeing if it was here. Thank god someone posted this on youtube (why?) and maybe now my brain can rest in peace!

  • I totally remember this programme! But no one else near my age does when I ask them. Great to see it again!!!

  • I remember this kids tv programme well. It was great and I'd like to see what they look like now. There's only the male members of the gang left. Jolie Newman died seven years ago.

  • OMG - memories of wet summer holidays stuck inside watching BBC1 along with Why Don't You....

  • yup if your about 40 or near to it, the nightmares of The Red hand gang, The kids of degrassi street. Big John Little John, will always be with you

  • why dont you was well cool i always wanted to hang out with all those scouse scallys

  • Lol, ditto

  • Wow! The Red Hand Gang! The BEST children's TV show ever made, I used to watch this at nine years of age and absolutely loved it! Great theme music and I loved the adventures. Great to see it again here on YT. Excellent!

  • ah, the days of playing outside, no cellphones for mum to contact, getting dirty on skateboards and bikes, and catching a few terrorists before bed.

  • Complete series comes out on DVD July 28th here in the US finally.

  • I could never understand why the bad guys never carried guns so the could slot the snot-nosed little brats!! still a funny show tho!!

  • when i was a kid getting changed for p.e we used to say "want to join the red hand gang " if the victim said "yes" you would slap them so hard it left a red mark

  • I remember that

  • it really hurt didnt it

  • This was shown when kids TV was great back in the late 70's and 80's, not like all the politically correct crap on kids TV now!!

Loved this show when I came home from school.

  • james bond iii rules

  • The names obviously been in his family a long time!

  • great stuff!

  • omg this was favourite show EVER!!! Id sing the song all the time. Id totally forgotten about it. I wanted to be an american street kid so bad because of this show, I even got one of those banana shaped skateboards because of this show!!!! and it didnt hurt that guy from Little House on the Prairie (my other fav show) was in it.

  • U can buy it on dvd now, for the first time ever since it was first aired!

  • I already checked lol, you can only get it in England, not canada. :(

  • Just mail order it and if you cant view it, buy "anydvd" software to decode and rewrite it

  • I think I will just cross my fingers that they release it over here, or that someone else buys it and puts it up, that sounds way easier. :D

  • WOW This brings back some memories. JAMES BOND III Cool name.

  • i am so buying this on dvd LOL

  • Wow! That brought back memories of Saturday mornings...think Banana Splits was on just before this...and maybe Why Dont You was on after?

    Great vid!

  • Loved the show and loved the choppers!

  • Hey - just bought this on dvd as came out in the uk 29/09/08. loved watching it again and bought all the memories flooding back. my 6 year old son loved it. Apparently Jolie Newman who played Joanne died some years ago.

  • I loved this show as a kid! My brother and I formed our own "gang" and went around the neighborhood taking down license plate numbers, while riding our skateboards of course. When there was a robbery at an apartment house it turned out we had gotten the car make and license of the thieves. It was awesome!

  • My sister and I used to drive my dad singing this theme when we were in the car. Lol.

  • its out on dvd 30/06/08

  • This is coming out on dvd only 30 years after it was on tv. I think they should wait a while, its too soon.

  • They also did a TV Advert for Bubble Yum bubble gum. One of the gang, on his arrival back from a holiday in England, told the rest that they didn't have Bubble Yum in England and they couldn;t believe it. The catch phrase was "The flavour last this long" - with his arms spread out wide. The rest of the gang then ll said "right !"

  • "told the rest that they didn't have Bubble Yum in England and they couldn't believe it."

They'd be right not to. I used to chew Bubble Yum when I watched this on BBC1 long, long ago.

  • The reason we all wante to solve crimes in the 70`s !!! Whatever happened to Silas, remember that ? Bring back the long summer holidays of the late 70`s and early 80`s !!!

  • On our housing estate at the same time there was a gang who styled themselves on these. The Brown Hand Gang. Similar smearing techniques. Not pleasant.

  • i remember his nocurina [spelling?} and i can

    still hum that damn tune....

  • Me too! :o) I hum the tune ALL the time. I remember he called the Nocturina a 'Sweet Potato'.I'd never seen anything like it before and I kept asking my Mum for a sweet potato for Christmas. She was proper confused and thought I was taking the P!

  • Didn't they go around solving crimes or something by painting their hands red and then smearing them on parked cars and the like? Hence the name. What did they use for paint, and was it water soluble? Good job they weren't called the Brown Hand Gang.

  • i thought jodie foster was in this show ... what the hell am i thinkin about????

  • The names Bond the Third, James Bond the third

  • I loved this as a kid. One of the best shows to watch, maybe not now though!

  • ths woz indeed the catz knackers wen i woz a kid

  • god i was only 4 but remember it so well

  • YES totally remember this show. This was before Matthew L. was any type of name on TV. Wasn't Anthony Zerbe always the bad guy? lol

  • Yeah, I remember him looking particularly like Paul McCartney in one espisode.

  • They have a lof to these shows on netflix

Ark ll, ISIS, Benji, Zax, and the ALien prince, the FIRST GHOAST BUSTERS

  • Were the red hand gang the forerunners to the Bloods gang? Perhaps thats why they never made a 2nd series - they ran into the blue hand crips.

  • Ha ha. Gunned down for peddling crack in the wrong hood. AK drive by. On skateboards.

  • How can a nerd be their leader?

  • kids in my school in london uk loved this especially james bond the third, what a great name!

  • anyone remember the episode with the wild dogs chasing them.......I was so young and remember being sooooooooo scared........

  • OMG! This brings back memories! Always trying to remember the theme tune! Thankyou!

  • dreadzvoril see that your spelling has not inprove sense you have been a kid

  • Does not look like you can actually spell at all.

  • O.M.G i luved this wen i woz a kid , sang the theme tune t me kids b4 we wotched it lol ... nd got it right ......

  • happy simpler days eh

  • holy shit!!!!.....unbelievable though it seems I remember being scared of this show when it was on tv.....must have been four or five years old I think.....seeing it now it still gives me the creeps when that man's hand touches the kid's shoulder....what a wuss I must have been!!!

  • I remember watching this show in England when I was about six, it was sooo cool, I can still hum the theme tune thirty years later. I remember that it seemed to run for years, well into the early eighties - were there many series or did the BBC just show lots of re-runs?

  • Oh my god that is sooo funny I grew up watching this in England and now live in SC and no-one here has ever heard of this show how weird is that????? I loved this show

  • I loved that show. I hope it comes out on DVD

so I can keep enjoying it. Besides does anyone remember matthew Laborteux who was on Little House on the Prairie?

  • Yeah he was Albert, like the oldest of the Ingalls sons I think.

  • That's his character from that show.

  • OK...I'm old...this proves it

  • Am I right in thinking they all hand bikes or skates or a skateboard except for one fat kid who had to run everywhere?

  • gr8 post. gotta get this as a ringtone

  • J.R. Miller: In 1979 J.R. Miller starred in Amityville Horror and had guest starring roles in US TV shows, including Starsky and Hutch.

Johnny Brogna: Appeared in the movie American Pop in 1981.

Jolie Newman: Now a record producer

Boomer (The Dog): Got his own show, called "Here's Boomer".

  • Apparently they were all part of the JUVF

  • Class!

  • i,m 34 now and everyone i know still knows the theme tune to this.

    absolute class.

cant remember any episodes just the music.

  • The greatest thing about the theme is that it had no lyrics and was therefore easy for a small child to sing back: "la la la lalala". Wonderful! Those were the days...

  • such a great show ! :)

  • Where are they now?(!)

  • either dead from crack or in jail

  • brilliant!

  • the greatest theme tune ever...used to love this programme as a kid

  • it don't get any better than this !!!

  • anybody know where I can download the lyrics to the theme???

  • it goes la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la not sure of the next bit though

  • thats right! i forgot the words to the theme tune, i remember now!

  • ah memories

  • I think the lead charachter is played by the same actor who played the lead in "Whiz Kids" a few years later ?

  • That's correct, loved that show as well! He also played Albert on "Little House On The Praire", who gets adopted by the Ingals. Did the movie "Deadly Friend" with Kristy Swanson too!

  • Nice flashback was this video. This TV serie was a success in Costa Rica in the early 80s. My skateboard still works for the adventures of the RHG... 30 years after.

  • when iwatched this as a kid all i wanted to do was move to america and join a gang and solve mysteries they were way cooler than the kids from why dont you (a shit english show)

  • remember being a kid and getting my dad to get me a radio just like the red hand gang and it hardly working. unlike the red hang gangs that had a range of over 2000 miles..

  • thats how cool they were the briany kid with the glasses fixed it to have superior powers over ordinary radios

  • Brilliant titles. I always liked the tomboy on her chopper. What happened to them all?

  • This intro brings back so many memories!!

  • Was that the kid from Little House on the Prairie??? I loved this show anyhow.

  • no way first time ive seen that since i was well young, i was born 1976 though and still really remember that, how long did it run for??

  • this was one of my fav's!!! Why doesn't nick at night play stuff like this instead of the re-ran reruns??

  • these rod-smokers were responsible for getting "kids from caper" cancelled. fuck em!

  • If this were made by today's television networks, they would all be smoking crack and carjacking passerbys

  • Jeez, what a blast from the past. The smart one used to irritate the life out of me !

  • The American Version of the famous five?

  • what memories!!!! I cant wait to watch them! I used to think Joanne was a hottie when I was 8!!!

  • Me too. She was a real beaut when you're that young! I wonder what she looks like now?

  • What a theme song.

  • La? la la! la.

  • I try not to use the "word" that often as it's horrible over used on the internet but... LOL. James Bond III, what a wonderfull name to call your kid, especially if he's black...

  • Wow I remember them anyone also remember The Blood hound Gang? 0r Graham's Gang? seem to be a trend in the 70s for all these Kids crews what with the famous five and all - Thanks you for the upload fabster3333
