We modified this technique - the sweeping leg is bent (or "hooked" as we term it) to prevent the opponent rolling or sliding off (by accident or design).
Also my control hand stays at his wrist to allow other disruption techniques to be used i.e. elbow wrench/destruction against the chest wall or with the knee/thigh/shin of the sweeping leg as it rises in prep for the sweep.
Thanks!

Both changes have been very useful.
Where are you and what do you train in?
