I hate being single and I hate being alone... my friends say that I'm not alone because I have them. But what they don't apparently know is that they can't fill the emptiness I feel.
I've been single forever and it sucks. On top of that, I haven't gotten a single hug and or kiss in 6 months, nor an I love you, while watching my family and friends get showered with that affection. Can anyone relate to this? I try my best to fit in, but nothing works. Nothing hurts more than that. Being a 5th wheel is even worse and I've been there 1000 times.I'd much rather get a root canal without anesthetics than go a life without love and affection. You will get a girlfriend, trust me.

some people feel that love is the only thing worth living for, its that important, i feel that way and hate being single, hate being alone, but sometimes when people are in that state of mind they get into relationships or stay in relationships that aren't real or aren't good for them. ive been guilty of being in a relationship just for the sake of not being alone and its never good but being lonely is really painful and difficult to deal with

@Bluy0 You have to learn to appreciate all that you have, and all that is around you. You have to learn to be humble. Focus on positive stuff and not negative stuff. Keep telling yourself it will be ok and eventually you will believe it. Sometimes we don't realize all the negative things we think in a day. Be aware and conscience of it. Then you can change it.

I've been single + virgin my whole life and I'm 17 so I dunno if that's a big deal or not...
But I feel how you feel about someone. But they are taken so I don't pursue them, instead I just hang out with her as a friend. When the time comes I may ask her out. the reason I've been single all my life is cause I've never felt love for someone in the same way I love her.
But I want what's best for her.

Being single doesn't = alone. What about friends and family? It's really up to the person. If someone keeps telling themselves they're alone, then surprise, surprise, they'll feel alone. It's better to take the time when you're single to learn how to be comfortable/happy being by yourself and to appreciate that there are also other people in your life (friends, family) who care about you. Spend some time with them. And don't just let one person in your life determine if you're lonely or not
I just graduated grade 12. I've never been on a date or anything in my life. Never really been asked out. But my friends and family tell me all the time how smart, funny, and pretty I am. I'm content. But it's just not the same. I understand where you're coming from.

I've been feeling this for a long time. "Being lonely has its advantages, don't worry!" That's a load of crap. Doesn't matter how I live my life, if at the end of the day I'm alone it seems pointless and incomplete. And what's sad is out of 6 billion people there has to be someone that you can be happy with and truly love, but until we run into them, and we're terribly lucky if that ever happens, we just bump into the wrong people and pray they're the right ones. I'm single, and I can honestly say, I felt more lonely when I was in certain relationships. Having a one way relationship where I cared more than the other, is the most lonely feeling I've ever had. Yah break ups make you feel utterly useless, but after you have time to yourself, and time to make new friendships, you end up feeling more comfortable being an individual. I've grown so accustomed to being single that, while I get occasional pangs, for the most part it really doesn't bother me. Forgive me for the cliche, but maybe you need to take some time to really get in touch with yourself. If you are constantly dependent on another person to make you happy, you're going to find yourself getting let down again and again.
At the beginning, I felt terrible about being single and had a few weeks of depression and now I feel like I am moving on. Through experience I can tell that I shouldn't be jumping into another relationship soon after the previous one ends. I've been feeling this for a long time. "Being lonely has its advantages, don't worry!" That's a load of crap. Doesn't matter how I live my life, if at the end of the day I'm alone it seems pointless and incomplete. And what's sad is out of 6 billion people there has to be someone that you can be happy with and truly love, but until we run into them, and we're terribly lucky if that ever happens, we just bump into the wrong people and pray they're the right ones. Don't lose hope :)

Being single is important, learning to be alone and happy is a powerful and pertinent lesson, it sucks sometimes, sure, but ultimately you cannot love someone else the right way unless you love yourself without assistance. You mean so much to so many people, and you are a complex and interesting person, go out and live, adventure, you don’t have to accommodate another person, embrace the freedom. Once you stop looking for love you’ll find it.

I'm single, and I can honestly say, I felt more lonely when I was in certain relationships. Having a one way relationship where I cared more than the other, is the most lonely feeling I've ever had. Yah break ups make you feel utterly useless, but after you have time to yourself, and time to make new friendships, you end up feeling more comfortable being an individual. Once you get to that point, your ready to date again. Thats just my opinion from my experience.

Being single is cool. At first it sucked, but then I got used to it, and now it's good. It leaves you free to be who you want when you want with a lot less limitation than you may have with a partner and also leaves you free to find the person who's right for you if you so desire :)

I've been single for a few months now. It's the longest I have been in the past two years. I was always trying to find someone so I wouldn't be lonely all the time, but I was never truly happy that way. But now that I don't have someone, I'm actually happier than I have ever been! I've grown so accustomed to being single that, while I get occasional pangs, for the most part it really doesn't bother me. Forgive me for the cliche, but maybe you need to take some time to really get in touch with yourself. If you are constantly dependent on another person to make you happy, you're going to find yourself getting let down again and again.

At the beginning, I felt terrible about being single and had a few weeks of depression and now I feel like I am moving on. Through experience I can tell that I shouldn't be jumping into another relationship soon after the previous one ends. And looking for another relationship will just bring me another doomed relationship, because I have not been working on myself by being alone and finding a way of making myself happy instead of giving that whole burden to the partner.

Being single is good in one way but bad in another, the good way is that you dont need to hear someone is holding you back from what you used to do when your free like me (im a girl) and i used to flirt with aloty of ppl. And you dont feel that restricted feeling when you are with someone....The bad thing is when you have no one in your love life or when you go through a relly bad breakup you get that feeling when you are alone and you think that no one will ever notice or care if you are alive

I've found that being single after a 5 year serious relationship was ok at the beginning bc I was so upset and trying to get through the crazy hurt and emotions.
