no offense, actually getting an international driver's license is a lot easier than getting the korean driver's license. because no any other test is required for applying international driver license as long as you can scan the original license, picture, and signature paper to send it on internet. then you get it in a mail in less than one week. more than 150 countries will accept the international driver's license.
@shinny318 - Thanks for the info! An international drivers license probably is a little bit easier to get and covers more countries... but then you miss out on the experience of going to the Korean Department of Motor Vehicles...
From a foreigner's point of view... most foreigners here in Korea already have full time English teaching / editing jobs. Not only that, but we are constantly being asked to teach / edit / tutor / help / translate everything in English everywhere we go. On top of that, it's extremely difficult to find Koreans who are willing to help us learn Korean so that we can survive here. So... if the driver's license center wants to improve their test, they should hire someone to do it for them.
4) And about the navigation, what it keep saying is that "You will be entering 80km per hour speed limit zone in 500 meters" "You will be entering... in 300 meters" It is giving you a warning.
3) you or any of your friends would do the honour.
If you just leave it as it is, people comes next to you might have to suffer those poorly translated stuff, and the next person, and the next... a vicious circle of weird English translation in Korea.
These bureaucrats, they never change unless somebody do something about it. Unfortunately in this case, nothing can be done by native Korean citizen.
goguryeo2007@ don't say as if you represent all Korean. i dont mind whether they badly translate in English or not. learn to express about English good humour and less serious.
@ Den38790 Because I've seen so many videos by native English speakers complaining about badly translated English in Korea, I thought that i might ask some of'em "instead of just complaining about it, why don't you help us by correcting them?".
Is this such a bad idea? Is this me acting "representing all koreans"?
I don't understand what made you so upset about whay I said. I was simply asking for help to make things better.
@ Den38790 And judging by your English, I can see that you are not a native English speaker but probably Korean. This is exactly why it doesn't work if Korean try to correct the wrong Engllish in Korea.
Certainly not all of'em, but some of Koreans just can't stand another Korean trying to correct other's English because they think that it is nothing but a "show off".
I am not trying to show off how great my English is or anything. I'm just trying to do some thing good for the public.
goguryeo2007@ As you say, I'm not both a native speaker or fluent English. I never ever been visited English country except Germany. Also I've never overestimated my English... what I'm say is i dont like to say a prejudice which can't proved..........that's only my reason why Im saying about your thread. if you were hurt my word, I'm really sorry for you.
2) English translations are, they wouldn't take it seriously. Because I am not a "native English speaker".
But if you, the native English speaking white/Balck People take some time and go there and try to correct those awful broken English, you migh make some significant differences.
I've been watching your videos and I could see that you are very decent kind of person. So I thought that since you brought the "poorly translated English test" up in your video, I might respecfully ask

What I don't understand is, how come none of those English Speaking folks do nothing about it.
As you can see, I can speak Enlgish a little. But I am Korean. If I go to those restaurants or public office and tell them how wrong their
Chinese drivers license is easy to get, just pay money.
