@dragonknight1984: I'm sure the blob would win. people base movie monsters on what the've seen,not what there sopposed to be able to do scientificly. the blob can't actually be killed,only stopped. thats by freeze. godzilla or any monster can do that. as soon as godzilla came into contact with the blob,it would consume him and get so big it would consume the planet and move on the next for ever.

I saw the 1958 version of this Movie on TV when I was a little kid during Sun afternoon oldies, I didn't realize how much it really scared me because I didn't feel fear during the watching of it but I did periodically have nightmares about it for years after! Now looking back, I think it's an allegory for Environmental disaster, and was actually some kind of a prophetic reference to the BP oil disaster ! Yeah, let's stop calling it "spill" It was a MONUMENTALDISASTER, which Media downplayed.

You're coming from an era where people are more sophisticated and jaded, so much so that now people focus much more on the quality of the effects than the storyline. My mom would tell me about how certain movies scared her as a kid and when I was the same age they were really tame. I always thought The Blob was a pretty clever idea. I saw both these movies on Chicago TV & believe me, i liked the original far better than the creeped-out sequel.
