Mayweather will walk straight back with his shoulder defense, where Marquez doesn't. His shoulder defense is much more ineffective against southpaws. Marquez will fight when being pressured, Mayweather won't. If they were to fight, and Manny on a good day, would have it easier with Mayweather then Marquez.

Simple math, and guess what, marquez was the challenger and need to dominate the fight to prove hes worth the title. If Marquez stayed active (which may connect him some punches) in the last rounds, he would have won. pacquiao and marquez have styles that match up well in the ring you cant count out pacquiao in a fight withe mayweather because im sure marquez would have some trouble beating cotto, margarito, mosley, and clottey. i think marquez is a great fighter one of my favorites but pacquiao is a real threat to mayweather and mayweather for pacquiao. i think another fight with marquez would be more exciting then one with mayweather simply because the well matched up styles.

No style is greater then another ...all are different.Norton's style was poison to Ali, Norton beat Ali, broke his jaw.. and in the other 2 fights they had he gave Ali fits and was robbed and should of won.. Then came Foreman and wiped Norton out in 2 rounds.. everyone fought that Foreman had the power and style to beat Ali but it didnt workout that way and Ali koed Foreman... Aggression? Landed punches pac 176, mar 138; Jabs pac 59, mar 38; Power punches pac 117, mar 100. Simple math, and guess what, marquez was the challenger and need to dominate the fight to prove hes worth the title. If Marquez stayed active (which may connect him some punches) in the last rounds, he would have won. Pac at that time is not up to par due to some reasons, but Marquez slacked and failed to take advantage of that.

Heck even most Filipino boxing experts including the man who first laced up Manny said Marquez won. Pacquiao had one thing going for him - agression. Unfortunatley scoring is based on EFFECTIVE aggression. Manny was only effective in the final 3-4 rounds and barley so anyways. If you compare the Mayweather Marquez fight you will noticed that Marquez is much more faster in this fight. Marquez trainer Barestain learn the mistakes in that fight so they adjust to boost his speed. They call Manny/Mayweather fast because of their footwork great body movements but Marquez has small legs compare to his upper body he never meet that speed.

@kingsomark Marquez's body allowed him to train 3 times a day 4 times a week. Pacquiao trained almost everday 3 times a day for 12 weeks (opposed to Juan's 8 weeks). JMM had to first gain significatn weight then focus on speed (this time with the help of a coach). However Pacquiao was very natural at that weight and he focused on speed for 12 weeks. Marquez is a shell of himself 5 years ago and he schooled Manny. Manny fans cannot admit the shame from that but its the painful truth. JMM won

@deturiated Different styles man. Manny would do better against say, Miguel Cotto than Mayweather, but Mayweather would do a lot better against Sergio Martinez than Pacquiao. Pacquiao is an pressure fighter, and Mayweather is a classic boxer. Like night and day, J.L Castillo was beat by Corrales, Mayweather Knocked out Corrales, but had trouble with Castillo. Styles make fights.
