  • The Book Of Mormon is another testament OF our Savoir! and is a true book! I believe Every word in that book! The Prophet Joesph Smith is a true Prophet!

  • The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. The Holy Bible is also the word of God. The Prophet Joseph Smith is a true prophet. We have living apostles today whom if we listen to them, they will lead us through life's challenges and onto eternal life. That's just the way the plan of salvation or plan of happiness we designed. The Book of Mormon is NOT on trial, but the people are. We will be judged according to what is written in it...so everyone better read it...Actually everyone better FEAST on it.

  • those 5016 who disliked this video i hope that one day yous will come to the light and know the truth and be able to have a testimony of the Book Of Mormon

  • A powerful witness from an apostle of the Lord. As one honestly reads this book, he will know and feel it is of its divine authorship.

  • I love Elder Holland! I love the Book of Mormon too. It is truly a testament of Jesus Christ. It was written for the latter days. I know that it is true without a shadow of a doubt.

  • Because of the Book Of Mormon, my faith grew

  • Every night Satan checks his closet for Elder Holland.

  • Oh man, this is why i love Elder Holland, he is one of my favorite speakers at General Conference! And not only is he an amazing speaker, but he is a true apostle and prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true. It is the most wonderful book that i have ever read in my entire life. For all the nonbelievers, if you do not believe the Book of Mormon is true, read it. Trust me, no evil man could write it, and no good man could write it without God. Without God, man is nothing.

    P.S I'm 14 :)

  • "But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good."

  • I don't necessarily have an opinion on religion. I call myself a Christian, and love both God and Christ, but I leave it at that. I trust that the Gates of Heaven will open for me for being an honest, hardworking, and overall decent person during my time here on Earth, regardless of what I drink or smoke.

  • @Mas0o0n indeed my good sir

  • @Mas0o0n You are so right! The Gates of Heaven will open to all good, decent people, but Mormonism is more than just restrictions of what we put into our bodies or what we participate it. Mormonism is the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. Members of the LDS faith receive continuous revelation from God in these days that teach us of how we can better improve our lives and grow closer to our Father in Heaven.

  • Another reason to be grateful for Elder Holland and the fact that he is a living Apostle of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I love that God has always followed a pattern of calling Prophets and Apostles, so that we can come closer to His Son. I love that the principles of faith, repentance, baptism by someone holding the priesthood authority of God, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end... is available to each and every one of us because of the Atonement of Christ.

  • @thurbs123 thats ur point of view bro

  • Thanks Brother Holland; what a great spirit you have. I had times in my life when I was almost overcome with the anti-Mormon message. However, I could never deny the testimony of those in the Book of Mormon. An angel did appear to Joseph and delivered the plates. By the power of God Joseph translated those ancient plates, and I thank God daily for the Book of Mormon.

  • I love to listen the words of a special witness of Jesus Christ.

  • The Book of Mormon is true! it's the Most Correct book on this Earth!

  • I think I just found 5001 opportunities for missionary service :)

  • Powerful message. A little bit more info: Alma 36 is a chiasmus, a literary device many college students are unaware of.... and i'm supposed to believe that Joseph Smith made that up? with elementary education? There are loads and loads of more evidences for the book.

  • for those of you who do not believe in it.. pray about it. ask if this book is true in your heart. these are things i did because i was not a believer. it wont be easy and you wont get your answers right away. do not let those moments discourage you from not believing . what most question. i do believe its true. but that is me. i never thought i would say that lol say that. so if you want just pray about it. :)

  • with all the nasayers coming to these sites remember, even thomas had to feel the eounds before he believed. And for those that truly believe, remember this. Lehi's dream is as true today as when he first had it :-)

  • The Book of Mormon is True. And its the Most Correct Book on this earth!

  • This is to add on to what oMaR21702 said... This is NOT the only true church, this is just the MOST COMPLETE church. Other churches have bits of truth within them, but over the years many have becomed distorted. This church is the ONLY COMPLETE church, although we are not the only church based on the principles of Christ we just have the full picture.

  • this it to guidebythespirit, I KNOW that Joseph Smith did see God and Jesuscrist. He translated the Book of Mormon by a holy gift. This is the ONLY true church upon the face of the Earth. You will know that someday adn have a "Testimony of the Book of Mormon."

  • Is it possible for Mormons to be a Christian? Suppose we evangelical Christians were to claim that we are “Mormons” because we “believe in Jesus Christ,” but we deny the Book of Mormon and teach that Joseph Smith was a false prophet. How would a LDS person feel about us claiming to be “Mormon” when we reject the basic tenets that underlie the LDS religion?

  • @guidedbythespirit Um...so what I am surmising is that you are saying that we reject the basic doctrines of Christ....the only difference we really have on that doctrine is the whole trinity thing, which is not supported by thebible at ALL!! In fact it is a pagan doctrine that people believed before Christ and found its way back into the church after the Apostles death. It was a VERY controversial topic until the formation of the Athanasian Creed. the same creed that created the Catholic Church.

  • @guidedbythespirit You cannot claim to be a mormon and yet deny the very book that is one of the bases of your religion, therefore your logic is void. Also we never claim to be evangelical christians or conform to your type of christianity, we follow the teachings and example of christ, and believe that only through him can salvation be achieved. We are Christians in our minds, therefore we are christians.

  • @CaptainInsano280 : May our Heavenly father watch over you and give you much work to do! My son will be returning in January :-)

  • Many hold up science as their god. They worship it when it is nothing more than observation. The Book of Mormon is the history of observations of ancient Americans that God lives and we are his children. Joseph did show the plates to others and they recorded what they saw. When men and women live the values in this book they will have greater peace and happiness in this life and the life to come.

  • i love how the religious always edit comments, whatever happened to "if god be with us who can stand against us" or "the truth shall set you free"? religious myths are dying science explains more and more every day.....

  • @FUwogs "The truth never exists unopposed. It will always have many times more than its share of antagonists, desperately striving to disprove, debunk, discredit, and destroy. That is so because it is truth; if it were not, it would be of no consequence and the world would pay it no mind, much less waste any effort to oppose it. It would be permitted to roll along into oblivion, unnoticed and forgotten." -Lawrence E. Corbridge

  • He did show the plates. At least 11 others besides himself saw them and testified before the world that they did in fact see them.

  • ...That we, through the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, have seen the plates... And we also know that they have been translated by the gift and power of God, for his voice hath declared it unto us;...we have seen the engravings which are upon the plates...an angel of God came down from heaven, and he brought and laid before our eyes, that we beheld and saw the plates...And it is marvelous in our eyes. OLIVER COWDERY, DAVID WHITMER, MARTIN HARRIS

  • Chiasmus, which was discovered in the Book of Mormon by Jack Welch. I think classic examples include the Alma 41 discussion of the term restoration, or Alma 36 with its Christ-centered Chiasmus focusing on Alma's experience in the depths of despair when he remembers the name of Christ and turns himself over to Christ and is redeemed. These are spectacular instances in ancient writing. They are spectacular examples of chiasmus structures that Joseph Smith knew nothing about.

  • I love the book of mormon

  • I love this video. I admire the absolute boldness of Elder Holland.

  • @mistfulrain : He did! He didn't show everyone, but showed eight people. the "eight witnesses". Their testimonies can be found in the front of the Book Of Mormon. Also, you can just pray and ask Heavenly Father if Joseph Smith was a prophet. Ask and ye shall receive. Lastly, just my little thought, If we could see everything with our physical eyes, there would be no such thing as faith.

  • Mistful. He showed it to Martin Harris who sold the part Joseph gave to him.

  • @MistfulRain We are taught to walk by faith, In the Book of Mormon Ether 12:6 It reads "I moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things, I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because you see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith" All of these people have read & prayed to know it's true, and the only answer to your question is if you do the same. Then you can answer it for yourself

  • Joseph Smith was called of God to not show the plates to the people, because they are sacred. The Lord gives us trials, or things before us, so that we can have faith. I know for myself, that I don't need proof to know the Scriptures are true. Joseph first turned to the Lord to answer the questions he had, He came across James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God," Once I read the book of mormon with a sincere heart. I prayed to know, and I recieved an answer that it was true. :)

  • what if Joesph Smith was lieing?? why didnt joesph smith show the gold plates to the people at the time? ??

  • @MistfulRain Joseph Smith DID show the plates to others. I suggest you get a copy of The Book of Mormon and read it for yourself. It is an incredible, true account of the peoples inhabiting the Americas between 600 B.C. and 421 A.D.

  • @MistfulRain Our church teaches us to walk by faith. In Ether 12:6 which is in the Book of Mormon (translation of plates) it says "Now I Moroni would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not see dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive witness until after the trial of your faith" All of these people have read the Book of Mormon To find out for themselves, and the only answer to your question is if you try read it

  • @MistfulRain I ask you why did not God appear to all of Israel instead of JUST Moses, why didn't God himself tell the people of the flood instead of JUST Noah, or why did not the Angel appear to you and me instead of JUST Saul? Why? FAITH, the opportunity for you and me to use FAITH would be diminished and you and i would be responsible to God more greatly than we are now. Apostles are speacil wtinesses, so to were these men who saw the plates and the Angel. Get that Book read it and ask God.

  • @MistfulRain Two things: First, he did show the plates to others. Secondly, precisely what Elder Holland is saying is that if they were lying, then they would not have found hope in a book which "would brand them as impostors and charlatans until the end of time." Their treatment of the Book of Mormon when they had nothing to gain by continuing to defend it (unless it is true) makes it clear that they believed that it is true. That they were lying under such circumstances is incredible.

  • @MistfulRain He actually did! Google "Testimony of Three Witnesses" and "Testimony of Eight Witnesses". Check out the site that is at LDS dot org. I also add my witness that the Book is true. It changed my life, and continues to make it better and happier every day!

  • @MistfulRain

He did, he showed them to 11 other people whose testimonies are found at the beginning of the Book of M. But in regards to the public at large, my opinion is that it is all a part of the test of faith. If we saw the gold plates, then there would be no need for faith, we would simply know.

I've asked myself that many times, but the promise given in both the Bible and the BoM makes it so we don't have to worry if he lied or not. God will answer; He gives to those who seek His Truth.

  • @MistfulRain there are 11 wittnesses who actually held and we have record of what they said of the gold plates. there are others who felt them through a cloth. read the first 2 pages after the introduction of the book of mormon.

  • And I know that either. It's completely true

  • this is fantastic! what a great testimony boost before i leave for tokyo japan for 2 years!!!

  • @CaptainInsano280 you on a mission bro?

  • The Book of Mormon, the truth, and true testament of Jesus Christ. There will be many that challenge the wonderful book, but if read this book your faith draw you closer to the book, because it is true, and living testament for mankind to live and obey, the Father commandments and to practice your faith in the God hand if, trust him, then should never judge the is word..

But, in the word special way of life, that mankind could destroy this, this special bond with God, the Heavenly Father...

  • I've received an answer from God of this things, however,I've analyzed tons of information about the church (good and bad),and I've found there's more good and logical things that "probes" the BofM is true, and some of that things Elder Holland talked here, there's only by the gift of the holly ghost we can obtain a spiritual testimony, actually we are the only church which claims to have testimonies,it's amazing how the BofM was translated, only by the gift and power of the holy ghost,I'm thankful

  • @pippin2992

I know you asked a while ago, but I felt I should answer. Yes. The events in the Book of Mormon DID in fact happen. I know this because I have prayed to know, and the Lord has answered through the holy ghost.

As to your other question, I did doubt for a while, even after feeling the burning. But then I realized that when I read this book, I feel so so good inside. James 1:17 "Every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above..." basically, every good thing comes from God. Wel

  • When I hear the testimony of Apostles and Prophets it moves me like nothing else in this world does. An unspeakable joy fills my heart and I know that what they say is true. So also do the words written by ancient prophets like Nephi, Mormon and Moroni move me and I cannot deny the truth. They are the words of love, joy, and hope. I know the certainty of death and have known it too many times in 28 years of Army service so also do I know the words of life and that the Book of Mormon is true.

  • Please read the book if you doubt or are skeptical (which is normal), but you must seek in order to find, and you must ask if you seek an answer.

  • Be it known unto all nations...That we, through the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, have seen the plates...We also know that they have been translated by the gift and power of God... And we also testify that we have seen the engravings which are upon the plates... We declare with words of soberness, that an angel of God came down from heaven, that we beheld and saw the plates... It is marvelous in our eyes.OLIVER COWDERY, DAVID WHITMER, MARTIN HARRIS

  • I know that the Book of Mormon is true!!

  • I also know that it is TRUE

  • I love this testimony

  • It's too hard for me to believe that Joseph Smith was not a prophet. It's foolish to believe that he made all that up. Read his history! it is impossible to deny that he had God's help. No man could ever do what he did without divine help. It is an all or nothing claim.

  • It is the truth, the testimony that stands as the work that invites all to follow Christ...

  • I feel something, when he holds that book up. It's like God is trying to tell me something.

  • When the mob killed Joseph, they did so with the intent of destroying the Church, and believed that when they had killed the prophet, that they had done so. Yet today it still stands, now over 13 million members strong, and still growing daily. This truly is God's Church, and Joseph Smith was and is His prophet as is all of the other president's of the Church that have come after him. President Monson is the living prophet. I urge you all to read the Book of Mormon and pray. I know it's true!!

  • @makbruins so true, be blessed, i'd rather be a Mormon than a moron, Moroni came!

  • For all who claim that the LDS Church is false and that Joseph Smith isn't a prophet of the living God, I'd like you to honestly answer me one simple question. Of all the other churches out there in the world today, if they had gone through the exact same things the LDS Church does and did go through at the beginning, would they still be here today? Or would they all been disbanded or destroyed(you can choose whichever word you like)?

  • @makbruins Yes , don't think a false Church could of stood up to this many attacks unless it was true . Something created in 1830's by a farmboy of 19 would of fallen apart sooner or later as the years went by 1880s or so at best . No other explanation , has to be true . Too many people working so hard to destroy it without success.

  • @makbruins a simple answer to an overly simple question:

there are dozens upon dozens of break away sects from the original Mormon church attesting to the pressure the church experienced internally throughout its history.

  • @plunderpunk yeah, and there are even more break away sects christian sects attesting to the truthfulness of the bible, does this mean its not true? And in the book of mormon itself there are a few instances in history where there were break aways from the lords church where their beliefs were very nearly similar however they lacked the full truth.

  • It's true!

  • The Book of Mormon is the true word of God and I am thankful for it.

  • If you're humble enough to bend your knees and ask sincerely about this book, being not partial but accepting what ever is the truth you'll discover by yourself that this book is true. And after this experience, you'll never deny, even if you are threatened by the death as the characters described in this message.

And if you are able to get this experience you'll know the true Love of God for all His children.

  • Very good video. Cool bonus him having Hyrums copy or the BOM in his hand. wow.

  • Jeffery R. Holland is my hero!! How can you deny such power!

  • i wanted to find south park the book or mormon but found this lol

  • Compelling...that's all i can say.

  • i know that the book of mormon without any doubt is indeed true.. i've experience a mighty change of heart because of this book. i can't explain how it goes, but i know that this book has a power to change even the most hardheaded people in this world.. if they will just read, ponder and pray about it they will know.. this book really helps me to know more about the Savior and the power of His atoning sacrifice,i know! it's true,i have a deep conviction that this is the word of God, i promise.

  • I love reading the comments almost more than i like watching the video. It is so wonderful to see the testimonies of so many people around the world who can testify that the Book is true. I too, know the Book of Mormon is true. I've seen it change lives, including my own. It changed me completely and I know that without it, I would never be the person that I am today. I love this book and EVERYTHING it stands for.

  • Ether 12: 26...The Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;"

  • Elder Holland whenever he speaks will shake your soul!!!

  • The Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God. Jesus Christ being the Son of God, the church being Jesus Christ's church, the Bible and Book of Mormon being true, and Joseph Smith being a true prophet is more than a belief for me; these are things I know are absolute facts.

  • You must read the Testimony of the 3 witnesses and the 8 witnesses and Joseph Smith at the beginning of the Book of Mormon. Everyone of these men died saying that what they saw was true. What is even more impressive is that some of them left the church and still never recounted their testimony of the Book of Mormon. Now, today millions around the world testify that this is God's work because they have received personal testimony that it is true, and you can count me as one of them!

  • very true.

  • yes i am also know the book of mormon is true.i really trust it

  • yes i am also know the book of mormon is true.i really trust it

  • The Book of Mormon is there available for anyone to read. The book speaks for itself. You don't have to rely on what any believer has to say about it or what any non-believer has to say about it, you can find out for yourself. Read it for yourself. Find out for yourself by reading it through. Don't take anyone else's word for it.

  • We love you Elder Holland. Thank you for your unwavering faith and testimony that so many rely on. You are in my prayers.

  • @mkwatson92 I, myself, do not believe in the Book of Mormon because Joseph Smith said it is true..I believe and KNOW it is true because I've read it and asked in EARNEST&SINCERE Prayer to Our Heavenly Father if it is so.By the Power of the Holy Ghost it's truthfulness was revealed unto me.There is so much goodness to learn of this great book and the Lords Church, learn for yourself an Pray about it...you'll see.

  • I remember this talk. Hit me hard then, and it's nice to be edified once again.

    The book is true.

  • This is the arguably the best video on youtube in every way possible

  • I too know that the Book of Mormon is true, I grew up just going to church because my parents made me, and I also liked the girls there, some may say, what a bad reason, however because Ive been exposed to the gospel all my life one day I decided to give it a chance, I found that it was true, and it took seeking! It wasnt a nightly prayer then bam revelation, However I got my answer, served a mission, in college, life only gets better :D

  • @mkwatson92 that is a good point. i'm not one to say who's religion is true and who's isn't. i testify there is a god and the LDS church is the closest to the truth. thats what i beleive but its not my place to tell any other religion they're wrong. if they believe their church is the most accurate, than thats what they believe and i respect that. the point is, its amazing for someone to have such a strong testimony for a religion, that they would die defending it.

  • @slyzargi8 "its amazing for someone to have such a strong testimony for a religion, that they would die defending it." You're partially right but also somewhat wrong. We have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. It is by the Spirit of God that we know the church is true. I'm very proud to be a member of the church and would never turn my back on it. I know Jesus Christ is will be the Son of God.

  • very touching testimony

  • very outstanding speech by elder holland. i love the LDS gospel very much.

  • By this comment I am not trying to sound cynical or sarcastic in anyway. I want honest feedback from anyone that reads this comment. Does anyone get that burning within there chest during this testimony but has doubt in their mind that the book of mormon really is the word of God? That this church is "the ONLY true church" on the earth today? There is an extreme lack of hard evidence for this books authenticity. DId those events really transpire that are told of in the book of mormon?

  • I have seen lives changed by this book. It shows the words of Christ.

  • Yes we have had plagues and turmoil and the lds people will always be there to lift and help. Because the lds people are disciples of Jesus Christ

  • ur passion speaks and leaps bonds beond the margins of ur speach if truth would be the word of man urs is a truth word. sadly i still looking for a word that holds a bigger truth. wdh.

  • Surely such evidence, while it does not prove the Book of Mormon true, makes it plausible, and worthy of honest investigation.

  • The Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book and is the Word of God. If we study it with prayer, we will get closer to God. Joseph translated the book by the power of God.

  • How can someone say the Book of Mormon is false when they haven't even read it? If it is prayerfully read, asking [with faith in] a loving God, whether this book is false or whether it is true, they will receive an answer.

I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Book of Mormon is true, and that it is a pure piece of the ever-lasting gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • I love how even amongst online we can testify and share our example. Although how difficult it is through the online persecution never forget the words of the Prophets, in the scriptures and your own words from your testimony. I know it is true. I don't care what people have to say differently for me differently. Although I have been raised in the church for 18 years. I know for myself. I have learned and take for what I have been taught. In the name of Jesus Christ amen.

  • This is one of my favorite talks of all time! I remember Elder Holland getting up and giving this talk. My heart was on fire, and I know without a doubt what he said was and is true!

  • I know the Book of Mormon is true. And everyone can learn for themselves if they will just open their hearts. And I know if you receive the word of God which IS the Book of mormon along with the Bible; the Lord will strengthen you and encircle you about in the arms of his love. I testify that the Lord loves every soul on this earth and he wants each of us to come unto him. And WE CAN come unto him by reading and living by his word found in the Book of Mormon.

  • @Zella456 I support you and know the Church is true. Thank you for your testimony!

  • @Zella456 You bet!!!!!!!!!!!! I also know this is true!

  • I know the Book of Mormon is true. And everyone can learn for themselves if they will just open up their hearts. And I know if you recieve the word of God which IS the Book of mormon along with the bible; the Lord will strengthen you and encircle you about in the arms of his love. I testify that the Lord loves every soul on this earth and he wants each of us to come unto him. And WE CAN come unto him by reading and living by his word found in the Book of Mormon.

  • I love Elder Holland whenever he speaks...I know that He is a truly apostle of God....

  • @deekay Good point; there is also a scripture in Deut. 4:2 which says "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command." So if you apply this, everything after is wrong. The Bible was not written originally as one big book but as several smaller books so what these scriptures are saying is we should not add to the word of God. We believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

  • I am very thankful for the book of mormon in my life

  • Amen, Elder Holland! God bless you: you good man.

  • The book of Mormon Is not added to the bible. It's another testimony of Jesus Christ.

  • Elder Holland is an Apostle of Jesus Christ and he testifies of the Book of Mormon's truthfulness

  • I love Elder Holland

  • I have read it and have pray for his truth. And I have found out by the Divine power of God that it is true. The Book of Mormon is with the Bible two ancient records of Prophets and apostles that show us the dealings of God with his people. The beauty of this is that every one can obtain the same testimony by personal revelation, by praying to God our Heavenly Father and receive the answer back by the Holy Ghost. To this I also testify.

  • @Onit1964 I did this the other week, just for defending here on youtube. My knowledge and faith has increased, but when I asked in secret prayer, I was Bathed in the Holy Ghost with a conformation of the truthfulness of this Gospel, it's leaders and the book of Mormon. I would never dare deny the work and the Kingdom of God, in this Church and among his Priesthood holders, God's anointed prophets.

Stand in Holy Places. Peace be the journey. Brothers and sisters Strengthen each other.

  • @Sephuskal

how and why do you think the BoM is the truth?

  • @alanarns The words were added to the KJV version for clarity, just like you stated. It would make sense that someone translating the verses into English would also insert the words for clarity as well.

  • REV 21:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book(KJV) the book of morms is an add-on is it not?

  • @deekay120278 The Bible wasn't one complete book when it was written. It was actually a number of scrolls that were being passed around by the people. It wasn't fully compiled and finished until about 382 AD. It is actually widely believed that Revelations was written before the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This verse is true, but when it says "This Book" it is referring to the book of Revelations, not the whole Bible, which wasn't even a book when this was written.

  • @deekay120278 When we read the Bible the book of revelations is at the very end so most people agree this quote means that no one can add anything to the Bible. But you have to remeber that the book of revelation was written by John while he was exiled on Patmos. There was no such thing as the "bible" when he wrote this. The bible wasn't put together for many years so Jonh wouldn't have even known that that he was writing would be apart of a larger book.

  • @deekay120278 Friend, that scripture is refering only to the book of Revelation. The Bible as a cannon of scripture is made up of many different books and these books were compiled to give us today what we call a Bible. The writings of the prophets have not always been together in a compiled form. The Book of Mormon is another of these sacred writings. In fact The Book of Revelation was not added until 379 a.d. at the council of Carthage. So is the Book of Rev. an addition to the Bible?

  • @deekay120278 Deuteronomy 4:2 (King James Version) 2Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

  • @deekay120278 The Book of Mormon is not adding to or changing the Book of Revelations, so I am not seeing your point. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is not a replacement for the bible or additional words added to the Book of Revelations. That verse of the Book of Revelations is not referring to the bible, rather just that book. And it is not the only book in the bible that states that. See: Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 12:32, Proverbs 30:5-6, Galatians 1:6-12

  • @deekay120278 Read Deut. 4:2 also the book of revelations was written before the 3 johns, peter, and james. Its talking about THIS book, the book of revelations.

  • @deekay120278 no..no one has added to john the revelator's book... have they?

  • @deekay120278 No. Deuteronomy also says to not add. Revelation 22:18-19 is just referring to Revelation. The Bible didn't exist then. Any Bible scholar would tell you that.

  • @deekay120278 read dueturonomy 4:2 i believe it is

  • @deekay120278 that applies to the book of revelation itself, the bible wasn't even compiled as a book until years after Christ died, so yes if some one was to "add" onto the book of revelation and got it published and started fooling people, im sure something bad would happen to them. :)

  • This talk is one of my very favorite talks ever from General Conference. It is so powerful. I love Elder Holland..... I'm grateful we have living prophets on the earth to be "watchmen on the towers" to alert of us the dangers that are ahead....

  • Elder Holland is fantastic!!! I'm so glad I know him.

  • LDS is spread world wide.

  • Thank you for your testimony. Well said and expressed.

  • could anybody tell me what language was the book of mormon on the golden plates was ?

  • @Allahsarmy Great Question! Acording to Joseph Smith and the book of mormon it was "reformed egyptian" (Mormon 9:32). One of the founders of the church took a sample copy of characters to a famious linguist that said the characters where "Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic." (Joseph Smith History 1:64). rummor has it that it's easist to read in arabic and it was the easist translation. feel to ready scriptures.lds.org or mormon.org. I'll be happy to answer any questions too.

  • @Allahsarmy An unknown ancient language using hieroglyphic like symbols.

  • Why do the Bible verses quoted in the Book of Mormon contain the italicized words from the King James Version that were added into the KJV text by the translators in the 16th and 17th centuries?

Here's an example: 3 Nephi 24:10 says: "...that there shall not be room enough to receive it..." This is an exact quote from Malachi 3:10 from the King James Version. What's amazing is that seven of these words were not part of the original text. They were added by the KJV translators for clarity.

  • I love Elder Holland, love the Book of Mormon, and most of all, love the Savior. The Book of Mormon increases an understanding of Christ's mission, as well as an understanding of the Bible. No wonder a recent Pew Research Center survey identified "Mormons" as the most religiously educated of any Christian group, and this included knowledge of world religions. For those who need it, evidence of the B of M not only exists, but abounds. But a testimony based in evidence won't stand alone.

  • The Church is True! Israel is being gathered for the coming of the Lord. It is no longer debatable, it is just the Lords plan and His Kingdom upon the earth! The scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon) have testified to this fact. Two sides will face off. Only one will win, we know this. Find the Lords true Church and follow his plan of salvation.

  • @288dr

    not existe another one

    i love this book

The Book of Mormon is trueeee

    i love this gospellllllllllllllllllllll

  • I testify this is the truth... My life has changed by this truth.

  • Wonderful message from a great leader.

  • THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE!

  • AND there were 8 others who also testified about the truthfulness of the history of the coming forth of the BoM.

AND none of them them were assasinated, none gave their lives, and yet, even tho' some said J.Smith was a "fallen prophet" NONE, NOT ONE denied what he had testified to and signed his name to on the fly pages. not ever ! to their dieing day. those 11 were the official Witnesses. there were several others who were not official witnesses who have written in their personal journals.

  • Elder Holland is speaking to believers. he is not offering his testimony as "proof". he is simply stating his testimony. a testimony is given in court or other circumstances not as proof or evidence.

the sad thing that scoffers don't understand is not only J.Smth claimed the BoM to contain the word of God, delivered by an angel, having been writen on gold plates, there were 3 others who testify they saw the angel, hefted the plates AND heard a voice from heaven declaring the BoM to be true

  • I felt the holy spirit in this video

  • The Book of Mormon is the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ!!! If it is the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ, then that means that it is true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true!!! If you want to find out for your self that the Book of Mormon is true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, get on your knees, and pray to Heavenly Father. and ask if they are both true!!! Heavenly Father will answer you!!!

  • I LOVE MORONlSM

  • ISN'T MORONlSM GREAT

  • just because people died for it makes the book of mormon complete truth? In south africa in the 90's hundreds of people committed suicide in a cult ritual. they gave their lives. does that make their cult followings true? i dont think so

can anyone give me some hard evidence (archeological) about the nephities' existence

  • @jaryang09 Plenty, plenty, plenty of evidence.

  • @jaryang09 Google F.A.R.M.S.

  • @jaryang09 All I know is this on my Mission I went to In Arizona I was really blessed to meet a lady that was teaching at Masa High and she was and archeology she did alot of work in South America. When we talked to her we asked her to read the Book of Mormon and see what she thought. The next day she called us and knew for sure it was true that alot of things she did not understand exactly made alot more sence, she could see as she looked through the book things she knew now made more sence.

  • "can anyone give me some hard evidence (archeological) about the nephities' existence" Yes but even being overwhelming is still open to debate, and is not the measure that God sets, he doesn't want anyone being decieved, he asks that we seek knowledge from him. The apostles said Acts 5;32 And we are his witnesses of these things and so is also the Holy Ghost whom God hath given to them that obey him. We can open the way by obeying all his commandments as we learn them, try his way.

  • @jaryang09 from what i can gather, they are the ancient people who lived in south america. the predecessors of the Aztecs or the Mayans. :) this does not prove the book, you have to believe it for yourself, but it is an answer to your question.

  • @jaryang09 Well where to begin. archaeological evidences. would take a very long time to share, let me offer this. email: hulsitalianplasters@hotmail.com If you reference this, I shall fill your library with plenty to think ok. Know this a Testimony of the Book of Mormon is gained by reading & prayer. As suggested in it. however the fun of archaeology evidences is a hobby of mine I shall pass on as much as you can handle and then let you go from there. If you deem it a Fair proposal.

  • @jaryang09 the holy ghost is the most powerful witness and evidence that the book of mormon is true. the archeological evidence can only touch your mind and your eyes, the holy ghost touches your very core, your very soul and beares witness of the true things of god. therefore archeological evidence is vain.

I will send you a message with the link to your needed evidence.

  • All the archeological evidence in the world wouldn't be proof enough for you. You will ultimately hit a wall and need to take it to God. He's the only one that can really tell you if it's true. Read the introduction to The Book of Mormon. I promise if you sincerely follow the invitation in the last two paragraphs you'll know The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and is a true book. You won't need "hard evidence." It'll bring you true happiness and purpose in your life.

  • @jaryang09 Why do you need evidence, the evidence is your testimony because when you read the Book of Mormon with real intent, praying unto your heavenly father in the name of Christ to know if the Book of Mormon is true, because without the Book of Mormon our church is not true....it is the keystone of our religion...oh and what "adkyler" had about those facts, those are pretty good, because you do believe in the Bible right? If you do, they go hand in hand, both teaching of Jesus Christ

  • @jaryang09 If you could see God...would be believe? Think long and hard about that statement you made.

  • try praying about it. i can tell you from experience that it works.

  • The so called brave things people do throughout their lives are many.

Yet so many fear a 500 page history book, Go figure!

I once asked a guy who told me that he read the Book of Mormon:

Do you remember the part about the pioneers crossing the plains?

    He said; "Yes"

  • The below comments were in defense of the BOM, posted by Bot | April 21, 2010 12:57 PM on an anti-mormon website...great factual comments:

  • ..."Could you write a 500 page manuscript on the first try within 60 days, with no erasures or punctuation, and have it stay essentially in tact for 185 years? Could you incorporate ancient Jewish names and sentence structure (chiasm)? And make it consistent with New Testament theology?

Could you restore the lost First Century ordinances of baptism and temple worship, and re-institute correct Christian principles of the Godhead and deification?...
