actually you know what..i take that back about what I said about the deer. i just read that it was your first time drawing deer and i gotta say the face is pretty impressive...you just got to work on the hind legs...i remember my VERY OLD hooved animal drawings...their back legs were very dog-like...this is SO incredible i CANNOT WAIT to see what happens next!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh...this is so wonderful! I love things like this, because people who are beginners and learner about animation (like me) find this super useful. It was the fans who were being unfair because they flamed us without knowing what really happened. What happens "backstage" does not concern them and they just assumed then sent in the cavalry.
And people have the right to critique the styles. What's baffling is how it's after complaining about the style differences that they start saying "Nooo I liked the differences!" That's the point we're trying to make.
Was it different people complaining? I know there were some people who 'flamed' the first episode, but I'm not sure if they're the ones trying to stick up for PWA or not.
As long as the colors stay the same, and the style stays the same throughout the whole episode, it should be fine. I mean, no one's getting paid, right? If someone didn't like the style to the 1st one, maybe they will for the 2nd because the styles are different...Dunno! ^.^'
Okay wolf, you really need to read the previous comments and description. PWA was fired and she wants ep. 1 taken down! Some people still haven't watch TRH who want to and still need to see the Ep. 1 storyboard to make sense of it all.

I liked the 1st episode the way it was, and wouldn't it be better to go on with the series instead of just streching towards getting the first episode look perfect? I also think its kind of mean, she worked a long time to get that episode done :C And I think you, Keilidhbee is a bit naive and if you keep this up and will do a full episode in the detail and quality you've done so far, you will get tired of it very quickly xD But if you finish I will kiss your feet and call you god :DD
PWA demanded that we take her animations down. Very good tip though, we definately don't need so much detail, at the cost of how much time it's going to take ^^

There's also more to PWA than people think personality and teamwork wise and a lot of things were said behind the scenes which led to her being fired. If she was still on the team, she would have had a say in this and influence on the decision on whether or not the episode should be redone in the set style, but she's not any more. And we didn't want to take the animations down, she ordered us to.
In the end, what's the problem with redoing it in our set style? People are so hard to please. They comlain about PWA, then cry when she's fired. (Without even knowing the reason why) They complain about the style differences, then complain when we try to fix it.
It's not like this is a profit project. PWA wasn't going to make any money, I am not going to make money she could have had instead. The series isn't going to be a real TV show or anything so... :/
Yeah, I don't see why people complained. If they wanted a series with the same style, then they can just make their own series. I liked being able to see the different styles all in one series.
Animation is something I love and I've gotten a few more animations done since this, I never tire of redrawing frames rather than duplicating as I know it will be worth it in the end, same goes for detail. This is also the career I may pursue so if I can't handle animating something 10 minutes long of amateur quality, how will I ever achieve about 120 minutes of Disney, Bluth or Universal standard?

sorry, I'm kind of spamming too xD I believe you, and sorry, I don't mean to insult you T_T I've just seen so many cancelled series(of course many of them are of veery much lower standards) and I wish TRH will run it all out :) I know you're talented keilidh, and I know you can do it! :D
Everyone's getting the wrong idea though, which is also kinda naive. xD;
Redoing the first episode won't hinder the series progress as it's being done by someone who doesn't have anything else to do as an animator on the team. (Me) I believe Noelle only finished the episode 1 & 2 scripts and is revising the story, and I was originally animating episode 5. (Possibly six)
I don't think I'm naive as I've put a lot more research into animating as people think, they just think otherwise because this is my first completed animation. I'm aware of what a long process it is and don't expect to have the episode done in a few weeks - months is more like it considering I can only get a few seconds of animation done per day. However I don't require a structure sketch unless it's a run cycle which makes things quicker, plus I now have a colourist.
researching and doing is two very different things. I didn't expect you to have it done in just a few weeks, months is more reasonable. And with a colorist of course it will go much much faster :)
I know that you don't all work on the same episode, but will the second episode be uploaded before the redone ep1? I have no idea how fast you work of course, so I guess I have pretty much no idea :P I'll just step out of the way and let you animate! good luck!

I'd feel terrible if Katte's episode wasn't uploaded when she was done because of me. D: I can't answer that question, you'll have to ask Noelle, but I'm positive Katte's will be up whether mine is done or not. We could maybe make a notice telling anyone who hadn't seen episode 1 that it would be best to read the fist chapter of the book.

Excuse me kind sir but I believe the whole team in general never said that her animations were bad. If you recall in the past it was actually the public who didn't find her animations good enough. It was only until now that you guys started complaining and saying she was like god or something. And really it wasn't so much that she was fired because of her animations; it was because she kept complaining and whining about the style change and the episode being re-done. And please explain-
how she made a mistake...? This is only a storyboard, it's not supposed to be perfect. Lots of things are still being edited behind the scenes that you don't know about so I really don't think you should've judged so early when they haven't even finished the episode.
To be completely honest, a lot of people could. I am tired of hearing people complain now. I admit, her animations WERE SMOOTH, but the style change was a big issue. All of the viewers were complaining about the differences in style, and now the team have sorted it out, you start complaining again. It was the only way around this issue really. Oh my gosh do not use Picasso in this. I studied his art for the first year of my high school life because my teacher was obsessed with him.
He was more than capable of realism. Even look at his Wikipedia page. There's mostly realistic portraits on there than abstract. So "any sort of perfect anatomy or realistic character to /anything/ he drew" is a very ignorant thing to say. :/

What are you talking about? For one, it could be debatable that Picasso was one of the 'one of the most brilliant artist(s) to walk the face of the earth'. Secondly, a cursory glance at even Google Images searching for 'Picasso realism' gives you more than enough examples of what he had been capable of. I also don't think his art gained much popularity until after his death, either.

I think it's mainly because a lot of people think 'abstract' when it comes to Picasso than his more structured works (although they're arguably better than any of the abstract work). A common misconception, but a really foolish argument. D:

I pretty much agree. D: I think it's really comparing apples to oranges, though, because when it comes to Picasso it really goes along the lines of 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Some of his abstract works are amazing in their own right, but... Can one really say that for animation? That logic doesn't connect with meee. o_<
... I wish more people would do research in general. But that's like saying to one person to build Rome in a day. They just get burned in the end, though. 8D
I'm working on my own series made off of the book I wrote and hope to get published in the near future called 'Wolfs Serenade'. Thanks for the inspiration, though I have very few hunting scenes in my novel. Maybe 2.
I agree with Grassheart. It doesn't look very much like a fox to me... Maybe they are a little too skinny around the ankles, but, the art is very beautiful none the less. ^ ^

No offense to fans but... PWA's wolfs look more like cartoon foxes..KB is trying hard and so is PWA. but id hav to agree with KB, PWA's wolves are emaciated for a wolf. even a fox. If a wolf was that skinny it would be colse to death. PWA's style is unique but still needs improvement. KB is improving and it is accecptable. Artists need to be able to take critique especially if they are going to animate Directors chose animators that they think have suitable talent please get real people

Just because you're remaking PWA's episode doesn't mean you can disrespect her, or her art! Stop complaining about PWA's work! I didn't disrespect her art, please point out to me the point where I did. I wasn't all OMG YOU SUCK AND CAN'T DRAW. I told her her wolves were emaciated and that's the problem most people have with them. I explained /why/ they need to be bulky. But PWA has always had a problem with me giving her critique. (Not sure if she accepts it yet)
Artists will never improve as quickly on their own as they would if they accepted critique.
"It's my style" is a poor, poor excuse. People laugh at it.

(2)...look skinny, then people can politely say it, then leave it be. I noticed alot of people jumping on board saying that the wolves look like emaciated foxes, and it almost seemed like people were ganging up on her. Try to see it from her point of veiw, even if she didn't try to see from your's. If a bunch of people started saying things about your art, you might get a little defencive, especially if you worked REALLY hard on it. We only really need one person to point something out.
My style is almost exactly like yours, but I'm not that experienced at animation, (But I CERTAINLY would like to become an animator someday)
If you'd let me I'd be honoured to help with tweening, colouring or good lines. I've alwyas wanted to help with rebels howl but I didn't have any animations to show off and I (kinda) have some now, not my best though.

Well, the rocks falling towards the deer seemed like a BIG, BIG BIG BIG filler, really pointless to me. It's cool, but pointless. Rest of the storyboard seems awesome so far though.
At 0:46, the nose is really point and sticks out far in front of the lower jaw. 1:08, watch them pointy noses! >:Y
Also thing the whole thing would look better without eyebrows.
The anatomy is gorgeous though, amazing deer, referencing is so helpful, is it not? I actually cannot wait to see more of this storyboard.

Well with that part, I'm not too happy with it LOL. It means I need to learn how to animate a limping deer. But yeah it's supposed to look at the injured leg, then remember how it got it's injury and was seperated from the herd, then back to present time. It's a scene in the book

Oh also Blue with the eyebrows thing I'm actually sick of eyebrows on animals too and have worked it out of my normal style, cause I want a balance between toony and realistic. But all the animators and the director came up with the style and the majority wanted eyebrows, and I'm pretty much neutral, so yeah the eyebrows have to stay. xD
I loved it ever since I saw Off-white. Iki's "D:/" expressions are awesome.
Oh well at least my Lyariah has been reduced from sparklewolves with eyebrows and overtoon style to naturally coloured ones with no eyebrows and I'm trying to get a much more realistic style too.
I bet that alone had more frames than the first one! XD looks great so far, keilidhbee! Cant wait to see your hard work pay off! its so much more intense now. i cant look away. its longer with more angles and such. really gets you pumped, so it really does look fantastic :)

Okay wolf, you really need to read the previous comments and description. PWA was fired and she wants ep. 1 taken down! Some people still haven't watch TRH who want to and still need to see the Ep. 1 storyboard to make sense of it all.

I liked the 1st episode the way it was, and wouldn't it be better to go on with the series instead of just streching towards getting the first episode look perfect? I also think its kind of mean, she worked a long time to get that episode done :C And I think you, Keilidhbee is a bit naive and if you keep this up and will do a full episode in the detail and quality you've done so far, you will get tired of it very quickly xD But if you finish I will kiss your feet and call you god :DD

PWA demanded that we take her animations down. Very good tip though, we definately don't need so much detail, at the cost of how much time it's going to take ^^

There's also more to PWA than people think personality and teamwork wise and a lot of things were said behind the scenes which led to her being fired. If she was still on the team, she would have had a say in this and influence on the decision on whether or not the episode should be redone in the set style, but she's not any more. And we didn't want to take the animations down, she ordered us to.

In the end, what's the problem with redoing it in our set style? People are so hard to please. They comlain about PWA, then cry when she's fired. (Without even knowing the reason why) They complain about the style differences, then complain when we try to fix it.
It's not like this is a profit project. PWA wasn't going to make any money, I am not going to make money she could have had instead. The series isn't going to be a real TV show or anything so... :/

Yeah, I don't see why people complained. If they wanted a series with the same style, then they can just make their own series. I liked being able to see the different styles all in one series.

Animation is something I love and I've gotten a few more animations done since this, I never tire of redrawing frames rather than duplicating as I know it will be worth it in the end, same goes for detail. This is also the career I may pursue so if I can't handle animating something 10 minutes long of amateur quality, how will I ever achieve about 120 minutes of Disney, Bluth or Universal standard?

Redoing the first episode won't hinder the series progress as it's being done by someone who doesn't have anything else to do as an animator on the team. (Me) I believe Noelle only finished the episode 1 & 2 scripts and is revising the story, and I was originally animating episode 5. (Possibly six)

I don't think I'm naive as I've put a lot more research into animating as people think, they just think otherwise because this is my first completed animation. I'm aware of what a long process it is and don't expect to have the episode done in a few weeks - months is more like it considering I can only get a few seconds of animation done per day. However I don't require a structure sketch unless it's a run cycle which makes things quicker, plus I now have a colourist.

researching and doing is two very different things. I didn't expect you to have it done in just a few weeks, months is more reasonable. And with a colorist of course it will go much much faster :)
I know that you don't all work on the same episode, but will the second episode be uploaded before the redone ep1? I have no idea how fast you work of course, so I guess I have pretty much no idea :P I'll just step out of the way and let you animate! good luck!

I know, just I got the impression you thought I was one of those kids who wakes up one day and says "I wanna animate a series!" xD; ASnd they jump right in without even knowing what a keyframe is or how much effort it takes. They annoy me a lot and I thought you had got that impression x3;;;
Blah I hate that, canceled series...es! ;a; They make a big deal out of it then quit once they realise how hard it is. I have faith in TRH though, lots people on it.

yay for TRH! ^^ I and Katte counted the wolf-series on youtube, and there was over 70 of them :0 and most of them were just "casting calls!" or "auditions" etc... the TRH-people seems a lot more serious! Good thing you joined them, now its gonna be very very good :3

I'd feel terrible if Katte's episode wasn't uploaded when she was done because of me. D: I can't answer that question, you'll have to ask Noelle, but I'm positive Katte's will be up whether mine is done or not. We could maybe make a notice telling anyone who hadn't seen episode 1 that it would be best to read the fist chapter of the book.

Excuse me kind sir but I believe the whole team in general never said that her animations were bad. If you recall in the past it was actually the public who didn't find her animations good enough. It was only until now that you guys started complaining and saying she was like god or something. And really it wasn't so much that she was fired because of her animations; it was because she kept complaining and whining about the style change and the episode being re-done. And please explain-

how she made a mistake...? This is only a storyboard, it's not supposed to be perfect. Lots of things are still being edited behind the scenes that you don't know about so I really don't think you should've judged so early when they haven't even finished the episode.

To be completely honest, a lot of people could. I am tired of hearing people complain now. I admit, her animations WERE SMOOTH, but the style change was a big issue. All of the viewers were complaining about the differences in style, and now the team have sorted it out, you start complaining again. It was the only way around this issue really. Because PWA wouldn't change her style, they had no choice. Otherwise everyone would keep complaining!

That's a Flashback scene. xD It shows how his leg got injured and how he was seperated from his herd.
(In the scene where he opens his eyes,it looks like he's lying down but it's actually me failing at that angle. x3; And forgetting to sketch a background.)

Oh my gosh do not use Picasso in this. I studied his art for the first year of my high school life because my teacher was obsessed with him.
He was more than capable of realism. Even look at his Wikipedia page. There's mostly realistic portraits on there than abstract. So "any sort of perfect anatomy or realistic character to /anything/ he drew" is a very ignorant thing to say. :/
He learned anatomy.
We're not talking about a realistic style, we're talking about anatomy. There's a difference.

What are you talking about? For one, it could be debatable that Picasso was one of the 'one of the most brilliant artist(s) to walk the face of the earth'. Secondly, a cursory glance at even Google Images searching for 'Picasso realism' gives you more than enough examples of what he had been capable of. I also don't think his art gained much popularity until after his death, either.
Picasso also didn't animate.
This is the weakest argument I've ever heard. Do some research before you argue.

I think it's mainly because a lot of people think 'abstract' when it comes to Picasso than his more structured works (although they're arguably better than any of the abstract work). A common misconception, but a really foolish argument. D:

I just wish people'd do their research before stating stuff like it's fact. xD Someone could easily say "Keilidh only draw wolves!" because I'm known on here for the TRH project but a visit to an art site I'm on would show otherwise.
Another thing, Picasso got famous for his abstract work, but does that necessarily mean it's good? (Astract, not realism) I never really thought popular = talented. I mean look at DeviantART. :|

I pretty much agree. D: I think it's really comparing apples to oranges, though, because when it comes to Picasso it really goes along the lines of 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Some of his abstract works are amazing in their own right, but... Can one really say that for animation? That logic doesn't connect with meee. o_<
... I wish more people would do research in general. But that's like saying to one person to build Rome in a day. They just get burned in the end, though. 8D

No offense to fans but... PWA's wolfs look more like cartoon foxes..KB is trying hard and so is PWA. but id hav to agree with KB, PWA's wolves are emaciated for a wolf. even a fox. If a wolf was that skinny it would be colse to death. PWA's style is unique but still needs improvement. KB is improving and it is accecptable. Artists need to be able to take critique especially if they are going to animate Directors chose animators that they think have suitable talent please get real people

That deer looks very good. :3 I think the back legs look off, though... Maybe thats just me.
And the wolves look 10000x better then the original ep. They acually look like they have a body. xDD

Somethings seem unfair, looking at the comments. I mean, I know that you're remaking the first episode, but there's no need to bash on the creator of the first one. Just because you're remaking PWA's episode doesn't mean you can disrespect her, or her art! Stop complaining about PWA's work! She did everyone a favor, but working hard to animate for everyone to watch FOR FREE. Show some appreciation!!

I didn't disrespect her art, please point out to me the point where I did. I wasn't all OMG YOU SUCK AND CAN'T DRAW. I told her her wolves were emaciated and that's the problem most people have with them. I explained /why/ they need to be bulky. But PWA has always had a problem with me giving her critique. (Not sure if she accepts it yet)
Artists will never improve as quickly on their own as they would if they accepted critique.
"It's my style" is a poor, poor excuse. People laugh at it.

(2)...look skinny, then people can politely say it, then leave it be. I noticed alot of people jumping on board saying that the wolves look like emaciated foxes, and it almost seemed like people were ganging up on her. Try to see it from her point of veiw, even if she didn't try to see from your's. If a bunch of people started saying things about your art, you might get a little defencive, especially if you worked REALLY hard on it. We only really need one person to point something out.

My style is almost exactly like yours, but I'm not that experienced at animation, (But I CERTAINLY would like to become an animator someday)
If you'd let me I'd be honoured to help with tweening, colouring or good lines. I've alwyas wanted to help with rebels howl but I didn't have any animations to show off and I (kinda) have some now, not my best though.

Well, the rocks falling towards the deer seemed like a BIG, BIG BIG BIG filler, really pointless to me. It's cool, but pointless. Rest of the storyboard seems awesome so far though.
At 0:46, the nose is really point and sticks out far in front of the lower jaw. 1:08, watch them pointy noses! >:Y
Also thing the whole thing would look better without eyebrows.
The anatomy is gorgeous though, amazing deer, referencing is so helpful, is it not? I actually cannot wait to see more of this storyboard.

Well with that part, I'm not too happy with it LOL. It means I need to learn how to animate a limping deer. But yeah it's supposed to look at the injured leg, then remember how it got it's injury and was seperated from the herd, then back to present time. It's a scene in the book

Oh also Blue with the eyebrows thing I'm actually sick of eyebrows on animals too and have worked it out of my normal style, cause I want a balance between toony and realistic. But all the animators and the director came up with the style and the majority wanted eyebrows, and I'm pretty much neutral, so yeah the eyebrows have to stay. xD

I loved it ever since I saw Off-white. Iki's "D:/" expressions are awesome.
Oh well at least my Lyariah has been reduced from sparklewolves with eyebrows and overtoon style to naturally coloured ones with no eyebrows and I'm trying to get a much more realistic style too.
