I love both Bowie and Iva, but to be truthful, I think maybe I like Iva's voice a bit more, it's a bit more melodious and less nasal.

If you like this, check out the Icehouse album "Heroes," where this is from. He reworks more classic songs, and it's really incredible. I especially love "All Tomorrow's Parties" (cover of Velvet Underground) and "Heaven" (cover of Talking Heads). He's still in fabulous voice, and really brings totally new character to some great material.

I saw Icehouse on the Measure by Measure tour at the Palace in Hollywood in 1987 and after a lot of Black Russians broke into the label party afterwards and cornered a surprised Iva and asked to know what "Goodnite Mr. Mathews" was about. He graciously told me, and I still don't understand that darned song, but he sure was nice. I only wish I wasn't so drunk that the whole experience is hazy. They were absolutely unbelievable in concert, though, and Iva was riveting. He'll probably never mak
