@KarlMarklund The way to REALLY get up that cliff is by a hidden and majestic ruin in skyrim called Kagrenzel and u have a very deep and beautiful fall down into another very beautiful ruin and u find urself at that spot

I found this place without being invloved in a mission but had level one whirlwind sprint and nelly's info was correct. Good tip dude.

Great idea, problem is I don't have the level 3 sprint. I was , however, able to MAKE IT UP THERE WITH MY LEVEL 1 WHIRLWIND SPRINT. Facing the waterfall there is a outgrowth of stone on the right (not the one with the lantern in front of it, is the the growth closer to the waterfall.) Jump up on there and blast across while aiming for the right side of the waterfall. You'll hit the waterfall's top ledge so be prepared to jump up. There you have it! Can someone help me out? im on the same quest but its asking my to go through a door that requires a key that is in the basement of the church/shrine place that is at the Blue Palace in solitude and i cannot find the fucking key anywere......

There are dwemer ruins on the top of the mountain, above the Stony Creek Cave, called Kagrenzel. You can get to it from the other side of the mountain. Exit from those ruins leads to Stony Creek Cave, just above the waterfall, so no need for these exhibitions with Whirlwind sprint :)

As you initially head into the path there is a path on the right, Arrow Sling above you, climb up there and there are two torches. Kind an illusion of sorts so you may miss it - I did a few times - but there is a path there - no need to try and be Superman (never worked for me)

i did this about 6 times and all i got was thrown to the bottom of the waterfall no matter how high i went on the rocks even when i fallowed what you did, and i know no other way to get up to the waterfall. anyone able to help? thanx

if this doesnt work for you , you can also stand at the rock on the side of the waterfall and then use worldwind spirit to get up ;)

Wow surprising no one seems to know. You go through Kagrenzel (it's a dwemer bldg to the east) Once inside there's a "strange orb". Touch it and you're trapped, after about 20 seconds of spinning (irritating) the floor you're on flips and you fall. Look down and aim your way through the rocks (and save before falling). Also comb the water, there's an expert chest in the water.

Shalidors wiritngs is in Ansilvund Excavation (south of this place), so don't understand the reasons behind this video.....? unless I'm ,mistaken with the connections of these places. there is one of those pink unknown crystal things in the cave buts thats all.

@soc3chappd Yeah, I just went through these excavations and found... nothing. Just some draugr and some magician chick. No Shalidor's writings. I am beginning to think that this quest is different for everyone. Looks like another buggy quest that Bethesda will never fix. Ah, reminiscent of Fallout New Vegas. So, Ansilvund Excavations is a bust as well.

@Lordofthecows and it's randomly generated. he just says he has heard rumors of where shalidor's writings are, then it sends you to a random cave or fort or dungeon in the game. you can do this quest a million times and more

Can you just explain how you get to Shalidor's Writing, cos its showing a marker in the middle of the screen. ? When i go via stony creek caves, i end up pretty much at a dead end (going into Kagrenzel, that waterfall is obviously the exit point from here,) i don't think your meant to climb it???

@KarlMarklund No it didn't show me this entry point. This is just what I followed. It was a great video and I never would have gone up there with the hints, but the only way to Shalidor's writings is at some shrine north. But, the gate is locked and there is no key anywhere. Bethesda does it again with buggy games. This will be my last Bethesda game. Too many freezes. Too many glitches. Too many unresolved and buggy quests that I cannot do.

I actually went through this cave and ended up climbing the waterfall via the shout. However, upon investigating the cave, it did nothing but take me to where falmer live and a dead end. There is a chest in the water in the room where there is a dead end, but nothing more. No exit. No Shalidor's writings. Nothing.

If you climb up the rocks to the right of the waterfall (looking at it), you can shout straight in without being stuck.

@spawn90001 I struggled with this, the marker shows near a tower in the middle of the map page, but stony creek cave is actually on the far right of the map, (as far right as you can get not in mountains though), its above a place called Ansilvund.

aiming at the left side of the hole is more efficent just aim left use the shout then rapidly press y to jump up after u hit the rocks on the side

The correct entrance is further to the east up in the mountains. U fall down into the water you arrive to after going the way u went in the video. Still havent found any writings inside though :S

The quest marker leads you to Stony Creek Cave, but you are actually supposed to start at the dwarven ruins that are further up the mountains from this cave and you exit through the Cave.

If your sprint shout isnt to level 2, then you can jump on to that rock to the far right (shown at 1:51) aim for the hole, and then sprint.
