Because back in the 80's , things seemed scary and freaky to a little kid , I should know I saw part of it. totally off topic but I couldn't help but read a lot of the Wall Street Journal from August of '89 that you referenced in this vid... One article is about the Bush admin. having talks in the middle east over some sort of trouble with hostages being held by shiite moslems etc. etc. etc.

The funny thing is though, if you didn't know better you would think it's Bush Jr.

Sadly, this show boosted MTV's ratings so much that it caused the execs of MTV to smell profit, and move away from music videos and start engaging social programming (what we in the 21st century call reality TV) David, can you help answer a few questions? From 1989-1990, MuchMusic in Canada tried going with their own type of music game show, "Test Pattern", hosted by Dan Gallagher. They obviously had a lower budget then this, but at least a five-time champion got to go on a "mystery" trip to an exotic destination. The episodes I've seen are hilarious.
