  • 2:39 a-team theme starts going through my head.

  • Cleaned up great. I like the stainless steel workspace. Good work.

  • I will admit to going "ah look he's got Vegemite in Japan!"

  • Did the old owner not have friends or family to clean the house after he passed away/left? It's just a little shocking to have food left over after 7 years. Other than that, absolutely beautiful job on the kitchen. Looks amazing. I miss my little apartment watching all these videos.

  • Quite a skilled "Un-skilled" labor you are.

  • The kitchen looks amazing now, haha doing pretty good for an unskilled laborer ;)

  • What happened to the person who used to live there? o.0 Seems creepy.

  • @taranova12 I guess he died from a heart attack or something. It seems very sudden the way he left anyways.

  • Australian!!!! How do u find Japan with crap all good quality bread coffee etc!!!

  • The kitchen looks gorgeous! Well done unskilled laborer!

  • I've pushed the 'like' button. So there goes! I'm really enjoying watching your videos & arriving more or less at the conclusion 'better him than me'. I do think you missed a golden opportunity with a before & after of that fridge. But I seem to remember it being pretty gross & so hats off to you for a really good detox & clean job on the cooler box. Well done!

  • holy crap, had to comment just to say good job.

  • is it cheaper to purchase an older house and renovate it like you or better to buy a more ready to move in type of house?

  • You've done an awesome job there, mate. Oh, and anyone who wonders what you do for a living should go buy a clue :D

  • I love the videos about your home renos! It's very interesting!

  • unskilled laborer has leveled up

  • Nice job ! ^^

  • I love that house! I remember when you guys were shopping for houses and you showed that one. It was a mess, but I couldn't get it out of my head and of all the houses you showed us, that's the one that I could see myself getting, just to fix it up. Kudos! You guys are doing a terrific job. I hope you'll give us a tour once it's finished. :)

  • I will watch the other vids also about the hose maybe there is an answer there to my question: wow...why did they let the house degrade like that? I understand that nobody was living there for seven years but it still had an owner from whom you bought it. Weren't they ashamed to sell a house in this condition?

  • Wow, what a change! I'm so happy for you guys! :)

  • Fantastic, you went from buying the place to moving in in 4 weeks - incredible must have worked your butts off. Must have been the vegemite :) by the way the fridge compartment needs to be at 5ºC -18ºC is correct for the freezer. Great job on the kitchen.

  • Man thats awesome you live in japan! when i was 15 i went to japan for 3 months to live with my brother on Yokota AFB, we went all over japan it was amazing. Ever since than my only dream is to go back. i dont wanna be a doctor or a movie star. Im 23 years old now and still just wanna be back in japan someday :)

  • Wow, I couldn't imagine that it would look so amazing after renovation. Now I'm really looking forward to see the other rooms after renovation, as well :) Keep up the good work ;)

  • my fascination with these videos never ends. also, the kitchen looks awesome!

  • ..."I'm making bacon!--What are YOU making in THERE?"

  • I think the unskilled laborer has demonstrated many impressive skills.

  • The "before" look reminded me of NY house keeping.

  • Very well done! Its beginning to look rather beautiful, that house of yours

  • You have worked so hard and so fast on this house! I don't know how you have the time to do anything else!! Huge well done!!

  • i love you're channel so much think you

  • I would've never imagined seeing a jar of vegemite and a bottle of Irohas in the same fridge.

  • love the look of your house!!

  • I hope that you painted the bottom side of that board at the window.

  • "A LITTLE BETTER"? how about A LOT FUCKING BETTER!

  • Man you must be part Mexican!!! =)

  • Comment removed

  • I really do love your videos! I love the renovating parts! D::D but I'm wondering, will you take pictures/make a vid of the rooms when you've decorated them also? (I'm fairly interested in interior design ;D) btw. the kitchen looks quite crowded with the fridge/freezer being where it is. you could try placing it next to the sink instead! and not go for so "deep" shelfs on the wall!

  • VEGEMITE!!!!!!!!!! lol.

  • It is coming along brilliantly, keep up the good work I cannot wait to see the end result to all your hard work!! :)

  • I imagine the pass-thru from kitchen to bathroom was for heated water from the stove to fill the bath before running hot water was introduced to the house.

Love these videos! Thanks for sharing!

  • Let me suggest something as you renovate : LED lightbulbs. The newest ones can be VERY bright and have a great color to the light. Plus they use very little electricity...I use a 8W bulb over my kitchen table and it's a bright spotlight that looks great. Check them out..they pay for themselves.

Do people who like Vegemite like Marmite and vice versa?

  • very nicely done!

  • i want to try vegimite :)

  • @TheKatsumiSkytower

So do I. I've heard so much about it and by the description of it, on how it tastes, I don't think I would like it but I still want to taste it with some toast. :)

  • Keep up the great work :) I love watching these videos :)

  • You guys are doing such a lovely job renovating this place! It really looks like a delightful place to live, I hope you guys enjoy it :)

  • Wow, looks so very different! Well done!

  • I like the new look.

  • wow cool windows!

  • Wow! What a difference. Well done for taking on the challenge of an old house, esp in Japan! We own a 100 yo QLDer so I understand the fun of renovating, but it is hard work. Great stuff.

PS... Yay for the Vegemite. :)

  • Whoa! Good job with the kitchen!!! Looks so good... Congratz ^^

  • That's heaps better mate! looks much more modern and def. clean! thumbs up for the vegemite!

  • I can't believe the family left it like that, I'm sure they kindly "removed" everything of value from the house, To leave food in a house like that is just insulting to their relative as well as to any buyer.

  • Nice video unskilled labour

  • Love how you apologize to your viewers when you do something silly. Star Wars vacuums ftw!!

  • You've done a magnificent job with the place, a really top notch effort, it's going to be a great place to live in. By the way, do the Japanese have blessings on their homes when they first move in? Great videos, please keep making them!

  • ...and... isn't the fridge new?!?

  • Hello unskilled labour, what is your (professional) skill then?

  • It's a bit silly on my part, but I find myself getting excited every time you complete a room, lol. I'm such a dork. XD Looking forward to the next one silly old dude! Oh! And make sure that unskilled labourer gets a nice cup of ocha for his trouble now that there's a nice kitchen there!

  • Amazing silly old dude, utterly amazing.

    :-)

  • man there are few youtube people who i would listen to talk about anything and i mean anything you got that kinda voice. you could talk about algebra and i would find it interesting to listen to. like the top comment guy said keep making videos. thanks

  • Really good job!

  • Heh, the before-and-after shots showed quite a dramatic difference. ^^ Nice video. I enjoyed your comments about the "unskilled worker" and his impressive speed. :D

  • Looks really good!!! Absolutely beautiful! Awesome job!

  • Love your videos!!! Very nice!!!

I have a question to ask if you don't mind, are you going to install kitchen caninet later?

  • I think you've done a wonderful piece of hard work on that house, my sincere congratulations. I do have a question... Since you did have the chance to go "down to studs" on the walls, and because of what I've heard about Japanese lack of insulation, why didn't you take down the old clay (which I am also happy you kept) and insulate and cover with the sheeting?

  • I love seeing the before and after shots of your videos :) btw I also love your new house so much!!!

  • Lovely! I think you made something beautiful out of that.

Looking forward to see the rest of these clips from your work with the house.

    Cheers!

    /mtm

  • You bought that house right? May I ask you how much did you pay for it? I'm thinking of buying similar old house but in hokkaido.

  • @Raessentia The cost of the house was mentioned in one of the videos... you need to review them.

  • @Raessentia - They paid 200,000 (U.S.?) for it. But it consists of a nicely sized house, with several outbuildings, on a humongous lot! Quite the bargain.

  • Big differance,I think the unskilled worker did a great job. Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome before and after shots. That fridge looks new, even in today's standards.

  • 5* for the aussie staple food in the fridge.

I love Vegemite. It´s never lacking in my fridge too!

  • Wow! You did a wonderful job!! It looks absolutely lovely!!

  • I've never known anyone to refrigerate vegemite before..

  • I gave the 500th thumb up xD Never stop making videos no matter what, you hear me!

  • @CruzzioXT

    Thank you.

If you guys keep punching that "like" button, I will keep making these silly little videos!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I hope youre using all LED lights ;)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Hey I wanted to say I loved all your videos, been watching for few months now, gone back and seen them all :-) .Love to see more Thx from Canada

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom well. in that case. like nr 721. not as round or beautiful a number, but you get the message

  • @CruzzioXT im the 667 D; 666 follows me everywhere its insane

  • @KuroiNeko2bz Haha, what a coincidence!! On other platforms, I name myself KuroiNeko!!! In addition, I play LoL, too! :D And obviously, we both like Japan!

  • @CruzzioXT LOL! xD my nick in LoL is KoNèKó xD really a coincidence... I used ShiroiNeko before... xD cheers

  • I always find the renovations awesome!!

  • very well done and interesting as always!

  • i love ur videos man post more !!! i wana go live in japan now and i am going to live there some day for sure

  • Love those window shelves. Great for things like plants or whatever. I actually have a dish drainer on mine that holds the dishes upright and drains down into a pan. Sunlight is the best thing for killing any nasty germs if someone in the family is ill. We seriously have less colds pass around since I started that and also wiping the phones, door knobs, and light switches with a little bleach water daily during cold season.

  • Very very nice thumbs up for the video.

  • PS: good choice on pinting the shelf white up top, it'll help in lighting up your kitchen, with the outsides ambient light during the day.... ^,^

and Don't sell yourself short, LoL....You got that new house of yours look excellent in such a short time, so Kudos! To you guys on the restoration of your home.....

1 thing though, about how much larger in (X's) would you say your new house is, over your old Apartment? ?_? ?

  • ROFL!! ^o^'!!!!

    STARWARS LoL

Actually, LoLz!! You look a bit more like 'Bill Murry' playing 'DOCTOR Peter Veinkmen' off of GHOST BUSTERS, I luv it!! That movie was a classic..... ROFL....

I Was Half expecting to see SLIMER floating around in there behind ya, lol......

  • Incredible job!

  • Major improvement for your new life there. Now you can cook while you take on the rest.

Great job with that tiny, toy paint roller.

  • you are doing such a great job

  • go the vegemite!!!

  • The house is coming along well! The "unskilled" laborer should be given a pat on the back and rewarded for his effort.

  • Can I move in with you?

  • The house is beautiful-you're doing a fantastic job! :)

  • What's so wrong with putting wallpaper to the roof? Isn't that common in Australia and/or America?

Anyways, the unskilled labourer did a great job!

  • @AndreR241 Ceiling was the word I was looking for :P

  • you did a wonderful job, thank you for taking the time to make this video

  • 2:42 Who you gonna call? Ghost Busters!

But seriously, Love seeing this go down. Good luck man. ^_^- Looks like your hard work is slowly paying off.

  • i love your house :D

  • National!! I thought they don't exist anymore!

    Nice 'restoration' job :P

That area beside the fridge going to be the dining area?

  • Marmite's wayyyy better.

  • Congratulations on the new kitchen, you did an awesome job on that.

  • wooo vegemite

  • I live in Nagoya, maybe close to your fancy Farm house, someday drink and have a fun in Sakae.

  • That turned out amazing! Really enjoying these vids especially, the before and after lol!

  • The kitchen looks amazing! You deserve a medal!

  • i love that fridge, you should put it next to the sink, nice vid.

  • so satisfying!!!

  • Love the bottle of Vegemite! I'm Canadian, but my mother is a kiwi; so I was pretty much raised on the stuff.

  • is that the same fridge? Awesome jobb in cleaning it :D

  • The location of that stove is scary, one step backwards and you'll fall off the floor into that stairwell. I think a small railing to prevent that would be an idea, or extend the kitchen so that drop isn't there. That refrigerator very expensive. "The R". Love these videos. I just feel sorry for the unskilled laborer. I think you're being a bit harsh toward him and his lack of skills. Anyway, that place is shaping up nicely!

  • Wow...you did (a LOT of) great work in the kitchen! It's a good thing someone saved that cute farmhouse from being destroyed over the years.

  • Here in germany we have wallpaper on the ceiling.

  • Great job!! Much better!!:)

  • I totally saw the Vegemite and was like "I see Vegemite!" then you started talking about it. Haha.

How much did it cost you all in all, for the place and all the renovations?

  • why did the previous owners left the house in that horrible condition?

  • awesome! will you show it when its completly finished?

  • A question - from what I've put together on my own and via your videos, the Japanese can be very meticulous, thorough and unecessarily overzealous in their work and will often see their approach to it as a reflection on them... so HOW could the real estate people present a house in such condition? Not so much the structure, since that's a natural type of wear... but the trash, the decaying food, the oily machinery... it just seems terribly odd and unlike the common attitude I've observed.

  • I'v e only heard of vegemite from the Men at Work song!

The unskilled laborer actually has a lot of skills and he has done beautiful work!

    Awesome video!!

  • FREE STOVE Sweet

lol You and the Vegemite lol

  • thank you for letting us become voyeurs in your amazing remodel..love the videos.

  • Love how your refer to yourself as the "unskilled labourer".

Great job on the kitchen! I can't imagine how disgusting that must have been to clean up.

Do any kitchens in Japan have upper cupboards? Here in North America the vast majority of kitchens have upper cupboards, but I haven't any in the videos of Japanese kitchens I've seen.

  • Any problems with infestations in the kitchen? I know you said earlier that you did not have a problem with white ants, but what about cockroaches etc.?

  • <-- Aussie guy

Chuckled as soon as I saw you open the fridge to see the vegemite :D

  • Unskilled laborer, make sure your secret identity is not compromised. Especially since your nemisis "Autralian Lens" seems to be following you around...

  • This series of videos is VERY entertaining man! I really enjoy them. Good luck on your house man. I'd volunteer to help you with some grunt work, but being on the otherside of the pacific makes it diffcult.

  • Amazing job on the kitchen.

  • Your kitchen desperately needs a plant. Otherwise very nice.

  • AMAZING job!! I have no clue what Vegemite is. It sounds like a tiny bug that eats veggies. >.>

  • house is starting to look nice

  • Wow I've been waiting for this! Amazing :D. Huge difference. Can't wait for the after house.

  • nice. i think the unskilled labourer has gained quite a bit of skill for certain tasks. Maybe he doesnt work as quickly and efficiently as someone who has been doing this for a decade but it looks great!

hopefully he doesnt hurt himself too much. take care!

  • it seems like the kitchen was not meant to be in that location and rooms have been repurposed over the years.

was the last owner the first owner?

  • WOW!! You did an amazing job on the kitchen! :D Can't wait to see more videos!

  • I cheered when I saw the vegemite!

  • very nice job.I cant'n wait for new videos.Very cool japanese house. What kind of heating you use in this huose in the winter time?

  • bit of a bonus to be able to keep the fridge, it's got to be worth 100,000yen easy.

  • The kitchen was the best restored area it looks like new, that fridge is big and very well stocked with the all important Vegemite, good job mate best of luck with the rest of the home.

  • Hooray for Vegimite!!!

  • The kitchen looks really nice!

  • this house kinda reminds me of the house in the grudge. :P

  • What a transformation. You have done an amazing job to this old house. I wonder why the former owner left it in such a terrible state, with dirty dishes in the sink and rotten food.

  • It looks amazing after what you guys done! I didn't want the video to finish!

I have a question, I am not sure if this was asked and answered before, but why would they sell a house before they clean it? I noticed from your other videos that they really sell/rent the house or apartments as it is! I would never think that a place like that would have a hope, but you guys did amazing job!

  • that fridge is huuuuge!! wtf i thought everything was tiny in japan.

  • Is making the videos encouraging you to work faster on the house? The fridge is huge have you considered moving it to a better spot? HOME SWEET HOME.

  • looks amazing XD Cant wait to see more!!!!!

  • Yeah that unskilled labor is terrible. Look how badly he paints!

  • I'm to OCD irrational to think that with ever be clean enough again EVER! Although it looks so nice now if you didnt tell me and i we're invited round for tea or something id never guess it was in such an awful state before. I can't imagine leaving everything..even out of courtesy it would be on the front of my mind everyday

  • @IEatCows *were not we're (dang phone)

  • Amazing.

  • I am interested in what this "Kitchen Sheeting" is that they are using. I have old plaster walls in my house that are cracking all over the place and I do not want to cover them with thick gypsum board. Is there is a specific name for the stuff or is Kitchen sheeting it?

  • I have this idea; since you put all that work into that house do you think you'd be able to sell it for twice the value? I'm not saying you should, but dang man, you put in some hard work in that house. It looks fantastic!

  • AHHHH-MAZING! Good job! Wow.

  • OOOO another video you made me so happy when I found you had posted another video!

  • You're turning that place into an absolute palace. I can't wait to see it finished.

  • how much did you pay for this house? it seems like they should have given it away for free

  • Good grief. My hat is off to you. I wouldn't undertake a renovation of this scale. You should be proud of what you've accomplished!

  • Nice .....very nice.....you know Iam sure from you and yours there will be a lot of appreciation and satisfaction ...you'll have....once everything is finished.....it will be delightful....and it will fill good to say.......That unskilled guy did a GREAT job...with his unskilled work...lol lol ....Thanks for sharing....loving this...I wish I could help, Iam here in the States...bored.

  • hi good job man looks really good love the before and after shots just wanted to know can you give us an estimate how much you spent on repairing the kitchen and all ? thank you

  • all i can say.... GOOD JOB on the revival of the kitchen! :)

  • Wow I'm impressed. You have a lot to be proud of! Very very nice, excellent job for the least amount of money put into it and tons of pretty skilled labor for a unskilled laborer!

  • At least the guy had good taste in beer...

  • Nice, I was wondering how the kitchen would look after renovation and it looks awesome.

  • omg,you deserved an award for the kitchen,

  • This house is looking great but I have to wonder how much It has cost so far for it to look this good?
