  • well when I want to delete the screen background I got the fill window opening???

  • I do not have colorange when I press select. I only have the word all highlighted every thing else is dull and cannot be selected.

  • Great tutorial. I just purchased a green screen to use for portrait photography and my initial tactic was to use the magic wand selection tool. This method is so much easier! Thank you a bunch for sharing!

  • 10x

  • Very good, thank you!

  • do you computerize your voice to make it sound better?

  • by the way I am using MAC and CS2

  • Hi,

This is a really good tutorial...it just that when I click delete that is located under fn, nothing happens and when I press delete like the backspace, the background doesn't go away, just the shade of green gets lighter...can you please help me. Thanks

  • Hey howard i recognized your voice! Nice tutorial!

  • Quick question... I am using photoshop 5.0 and when i go to select there is no color range option. Do I have it? If not, what photoshop program are you using?

    Thanks.

  • Hey, I think PS 5.0 does not have a "Color Range" function. Its integrated in PS CS 1,2,3 and 4. As far as I know IceflowStudios use PS CS 3 or 4.

  • Oh okay thanks...What about PS Element?

  • Don't know very much about it, but as far as I know I think its a "basic" version of Photoshop which does not inclued all functions and filters of the "original" Photoshop. For more information : use google :D

  • What about if I know someone who has PS CS4, if I were to obtain the CD can I download it on my computer? Can the serial # be used more than once?

  • If you know someone, the person you know should not have internet access, if you want to use his serial #. Otherwise it won't work, I suppose. But you can give it a try ;)

  • Photoshop 5.0 is way oldschool... try to find either cs2 or cs3.. :)

  • What about CS4?

  • that's if you have the experience O.o, cs4 is for advanced users and way expensive than any other versions

  • he is using either adobe cs1 cs2 or cs3

  • What about if the background isn't just one color?

  • then its not chroma keying.....

you have to select the background manually.

  • alright :l

    Thanks.

  • np, and btw, i would use the polygonal lasso tool :P

  • gooooooooooooood

  • Select, Color range, then click on the green. :D

  • Thanks For The Shortcut

    :]

  • Absolutely fantastic tutorial. Thank you very much. I will check out your site.

  • You Rock!

  • AWESOME. Thanks for the tutorial

  • The problem with this tut is it eat away the image by expanding and feathering. What worked for me best is simply use the magic eraser. If there are spots that were missed, you then use color range. The green left behind after this will be so faint and tainted that you will have to zoom in to actually see it.

  • Yeah, this is a pretty outdated method. I have a few newer vids with better methods. Good point though.

  • Very cool method. Thanks for posting the video.

  • A better way to do this is to drag the fuzziness all the way to 200% so that all the green is eliminated then hit Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse the selection so that the object in the foreground is selected then using the lasso tool (whilst holding onto shift) simply add the deselected zones into the marquee by lassoing them. Then hit Ctrl+Shift+I followed by delete to delete the green background.

    100% accurate without feathering.

  • its not very that accurate lmao!

  • quick-tutorials com

  • THANKS ICEFLOW! this is the best stuff on youtube, keep doin this guys!!! :D!!

  • This is helpful, because I actually take all my photos in front of a green screen.

  • nice ;p

  • awesome i learned alot thanks the tut

  • the voice reminded me of daxflame, and "now you're subject is on the beach" made my polluted 15 year old mind laugh..still great job with the tutorial...is there a way I can do this to frames in a video automaticly?

  • hmm i got cs3

  • You didn't even mention the magic eraser tool!

Do you just not like to use it?

  • that was a good tutorial, what photoshop version is that? i have photoshop 7.0 and i usually use the polygonal lasso tool to cut out my pictures but i find it not as accurate as it should, or at least as i want it to be. Therefore i was looking for some tutorials on this, and this one was very useful, but i noticied that you used a fairly easy picture to work with, will it be the same process with a picture with a background that has many colors in it?

  • Remove a solid background from your foreground subject.

solid backround: a SINGLE COLORED area behind the main subject of a picture

  • one of the top youtubers favorited this

  • Great job.

  • that's alot easier than the last tutorial that i tried from another person. Thanks. I really appreciate all the time you put in to making these tutorials for us. I look forward to more. :) Also, what program did you use to make that YouTube intro that's down toward the bottom of your videos list?

    -BJM

  • Thanks for the comment. For the YouTube intro, I used 3D Studio Max.

  • cool tip, cheers!
